@@Lovestay822 I have before. I always measure how much I need so I know I’m getting the right amount. It’s really not that much. She’s putting a whole lot more that 1/4 tsp. It’s not bad that’s she’s putting a lot but as someone with sensitive eyes I have to use mineral sunscreen and putting too much on causes one hell of a white cast.

@@w98 I just measured a 1/4 teaspoon right now and it was about as much as she used. At least to fill up the whole 1/4 teaspoon. Either way, better to have too much then not enough because if you’re not applying enough and getting a much smaller spf coverage, then that’s technically wasteful as well seeing that you’ve used up all the sunscreen in less than adequate amounts to not even be effective

Exactly! Sunscreen is not cheap. I'm black, so I use a sunscreen that doesn't leave a white cast on my skin, and it costs $17 a bottle. The bottle is not very big either. I can't afford to drop nearly $20 that frequently on sunscreen.

As an albino I can tell you I just apply five dots on my face and I don't get burned at all. The thickness of the layer you putting on isn't that important, but the time is. If you forget to reapply after a certain time (most of the times you can look up how long your sunscreen protects your skin), the UV will get through the crème.

    • @meatysheep
      @meatysheep 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

You don't have to look up how long your sunscreen gives protection.. thats what the SPF tells you. So, you have your natural protection (according to your skin type) for me thats around 10 - 20min x the sunscreens SPF is, lets say 50 = makes 8 - 16 h , BUT that only applies if you apply the proper amount of sunscreen, because if you don't the SPF is less than what the bottle says. Meaning, the amount of sunscreen gives you the time. Ofcourse you can use less, but then you have to reapply more often. If I use the proper amount I can go a day without reaplying which is especially useful when you go out with makeup on.

Wow, I'm glad when I started taking sunscreen more seriously, as I've aged and beyond learned my lessons, I naturally started using this amount or more. But this is definitely interesting and great to keep on top of, as well as layering advice! Little nuggets for anyone else make use to reapply throughout the day, especially while or going back out into the sun through the day and sunscreens from other countries, especially Korea, Japan, Australia, and some from Europe have better formulas than the US that blend and are more appeasing for those who struggle with everyday use and under makeup. They also provide strong and added protections. I've been in love with a lot of Korean products I've started to use from sunscreen, moisturizers, tinted protection, and even foundations that wear and look much different than the many I have tried of the US companies while being very affordable 🫶 thanks for your content!!! And I'm always excited to hear new recommendations on sunscreen as a seasoned, evolved, adamant user these days lol

Yes you can layer it but there is no Reason to put that much. I personally put everywhere and not too much and not too Little. It needs to go everywhere that the sun sees. Yes, please! I'd especially like to know about the Korean and Japanese kinds, because they have the newer protection and I feel like they will be better at covering both UVB and UVA. We don't have as much for UVA here in the states. Also, I'd like to see which are hybrids and which are water resistant.

I also do that layering thing, i put half over my face and neck them go in for another layer and you genuinely cant see it on light/med skin, cant speak for darker skin. it's actually better if your skin isn't absorbing it! both moisturiser and sunscreen are NOT supposed to absorb into the skin- moisturiser creates a barrier to prevent moisture from escaping while chemicals in the product like hyaluronic acid will permeate the skin to stimulate more moisture production, while sunscreen usually uses a barrier of titanium dioxide or zinc oxide that sits on top of your skin and reflects UV rays before they hit it (which is why you need to reapply sunscreen every 2 hours of sun exposure! if your skin isn't absorbing it tho, you actually get more time out of each application!!)

You can easily apply makeup onto a face which looks shiny and greasy from skincare products. It’s even better to apply make up after your sunscreen as most newest daily sunscreens are formulated to act as a primer as well. Just apply powder afterwards if the shine (after foundation or after sunscreen if you don’t wear make up) is still bothering you. I can highly recommend you Ben Nye setting powders, they’re the finest I’ve ever used and work very well.

    Tips for not getting sunburnt:
1: get a strong and expensive sunscreen for the face, and a lighter a d cheaper one for the body.
2: Apply several times as the day goes on, specially after exiting the water or sweating considerably. No matter how "water resistant" your sunscreen is.
3: go for at least 50 protection on the body. If you find it, go even higher on the face.
4: Don't try to rush a tan by wearing less protection, if your skin peels off, you will go back to square 0.
5: When tanning, flip front and back frequently.

Don't do it if you have sensitive skin pls. I am 30 and i have never applied this amount of sunscreen in my life. I don't understand what's wrong with influencers nowadays. If you see any influencer applying this amount of any product, their skin is basically dead, they rely heavily on products to look normal. Thank me later.

@@b__05nope. Your skin will be bAsIcAlLy dEaD in very few years without any sun protection. On most people you can clearly see they get to much sun without any protection. Moreover every skin is different and needs different protection. Stop talking shit just cause you think your method is the one and scroll further.

i used to use Verse sunscreen which was perfect. it was tinted, lightweight, mineral, and rated 100% on yuka though ik yuka can’t be fully trusted, but it made my skin soooo clear. overall though Verse is a good brand. i regret switching it out for a beef tallow sun butter because i’m mixed and it leaves too much of a white cast and is kinda grainy :( both were $30 and i don’t have extra to rebuy the Verse sunscreen until i get paid😢

We in India try and avoid going out in the sun between 10am - 4pm when the sun is really strong. We cover ourselves up from head to toe, if we do need to ho out during the day. All this on top of using sunscreen

  • @kelbell275

As an Aussie who freckles and burns, you don’t need expensive sunscreen. For it to really work it needs to have titanium dioxide or zinc oxide in it.
Don’t put it on your eyelids…wear sunglasses to protect your eyes. Oh and I’ve never reapplied it once. It still works later in the day. Obviously if you have gone swimming or gone to the gym then yeah reapply.

They do it by not having sensitive eyes or they found the sunscreen that doesn't sting their eyes. From what I've heard mineral sunscreens don't tend to sting so some put mineral around their eyes then their regular sunscreen everywhere else.

there are different kinds of sunscreens and also different skin types, you can’t apply yours like the same person who has oily skin or dry skin, here’s the thing, go to see a doctor who’s the one that can help you to find the best sunscreen for you skin type :)
