I remember getting into a whole electro swing obsession when I was a kid, this kicking it off. There're some good "best of this year" compilations of the genre
Cool to see you react to Caravan Palace! Their music videos tend to be on the weird side, yes 😂. Loving all the variety on the channel, I'm sure some people are finding new music through these videos (me included).
I think the video is supposed to be like a metaphor for a savannah oasis or something. The customers are predators while the workers are herbivores who expose themselves to the predators in order to get what they need to survive (in the oasis it's water, in our society it's money).
To be fair, I don't think any interpretation of music is ever wrong, if that's what you feel. But a Lone Digger is the one person that dances at a club even if no one else is. The one in the cage at the end was the lone digger. I think the idea is that she isn't going to let anything stop her, she's gonna dance even if the rest of the club is dead. When that music takes you, nothing else matters.
Welcome to the world of Electro Swing! Caravan Palace is by far one of the coolest bands in the ES genre, right up there with Post-Modern Jukebox (Hailey Reinhart doing vocals for them is legit). Now, the video...oh boy. It's all metaphor with the anthropomorphic people. For example, the Cool Cats, a drunk down on his luck Family Rabbit, the "Dog eat dog" world of business, and the innocent "doe eyed" exotic dance. Try not to think too hard on it; it'll make your brain hurt. 😅
@@Blitzwaffen actually, after slowing it down, I noticed that it has a carrot in his glass. The ears and muzzle don't match a rabbit, but it's hard to see at first glance since it only appears for approx. 0.5 seconds. Still though, symbolic of a corporate schmuck always chasing the carrot they'll never acquire, i.e. that big promotion.
Donkey also fits as a "beast of burden", a work animal. I also note that many of the guests are predatory animals outside of the Salaryman/Familyman Donkey, the Goose with the Wolf, and the employees. They're out on the hunt.
Caravan Palace have weird video...but the music is unique and is a genre that should have been more mainstream...It's just amazing ! That clarinet is gorgeous and it's so rare ! But what really hit me is the piano on the back...really bring the rythm !
To me the video seems like a modern twist on fables pulling visual metaphors from idioms used around 60s to 80s instead of common folklore like in works of Brothers Grimm. It's certainly bloody enough to be a German folk tale.
I had heard this song literal hundreds of times before I ever saw the video (Mostly knew the song from playing it in Beat Saber) so when I saw the video it was super surprising.
A foolproof way of telling a crocodile from an alligator. If you release them and they leave, you'll see the crocodile in a while, but you won't see the alligator until later.
I'm so used to watch animators react to this video i completely forgot is an actual music video!! And i think you are the only one who actually is reacting to it as such!! I'm amazed of everything you said that i didn't noticed !!
This genre is Electro Swing and it's one of my favorite music genres! The blend of old swing and jazz with electronic dance is done so well with artists like Caravan Palace.
with electro swing and your recent endeavour with japanese music, I can reccomend you Japanese composer FAKE TYPE. Their particular song "Beauty Unique Boutique" is a bop. Their songs are perfect mix of electro swing and vocaloid. They do compose and collaborate with various singers too.
Just can't hear this anymore without hearing Officer Hopps say "She just.... keept dancing" xD (check out "Judy Hopps Lone Digger"). Awesome vid and the one that got ma into Electro swing (also the ost remix for "a Hat in time")
7:32 Well shit, two of those recommended videos at the end would make good reactions. "And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope" by Ne Obliviscaris or "Overtime" by Knower
Fox and Goose (though i think it's a Swan here?)...pretty normal day in the Furry Fandom :D Lone Digger is probably my favourite from Caravan Palace, it just all fits so nice together.
Isn't this sick though! The first 10 times I listened to the song it had not ocurred to me to check TH-cam. That clip is so violent, I had no idea. So I completely agree to listen to the music without the clip - it's like reading the book before the movie. So, awesome job on this video, really appreciate it and it was a ton of fun to watch. Anyway, I don't really got a say in suggesting songs for you, with me not being a patron and all, but what do you think about the German hip-hop singer Peter Fox and one of his latest songs Zukunft Pink? And if you don't care for that, what about this duo from Israel, Infected Mushroom with their song Bliss?
This is my favorite song by them but it isn't what I would have picked as the first one for someone to listen to. Dramophone is a way more fun introduction to "electro-swing". But the video isn't nearly as cool.
Caravan Palace is a major player in the electroswing scene, but I'd highly recommend Swingrowers. Even just for your own off-camera enjoyment if you don't want to react to them, but I do think Swingrowers are overall better, musically, than Caravan Palace.
Hey Tony, I'd love to see you react to Aaron Kitcher's drum cam play through of the Infant Annihilator song, "C*nt Crusher" (often shortened to "CCrusher). I think you'd really enjoy the amazing technique and drum arrangement Aaron puts on display. Although the play through doesn't have the vocal track (and thus, no lyrics), I would like to give you a heads up about what Infant Annihilator is as a band. I found this comment on a different video, and I think this person writes a good summary: "Infant Annihilator is an intentionally satirical band. They are deliberately over the top in everything they do, from the lyrical content to the musicianship. It's intentionally tongue in cheek and kind of a riff on how edgy and tryhard some of the Deathcore/Death Metal community can be. So if you do read the lyrics, keep that in mind. They aren't serious, it's satire. Even the song names are satire. Brojob is another band that is both FANTASTIC musically but also is a complete mocking teardown of the genre and it's hyper masculinity." Again, the play through doesn't have any of the lyrical content, so the video should be "no worse" than your reactions to Slaughter to Prevail and Lorna Shore, among others. I hope you'll take the opportunity to react to the video. I think you'll have fun with it.
I always have to refer to this song by two different things. Me describing the song with the furry bar fight visuals and me describing the song are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT
the video was animated entirely separately from the song, as the lyrics are meaningless i say separately but i mean after. show me a music video that gets a song made for it, you know?

My friend, this is called "Electro Swing". Swing with an Modern Twist, with elements of Electronic Dance Music (EDM), and Rap.
Electro Swing has always been one of my favourite genres, it's awesome.
Not always rap
@@wagiqwq He mentions elements, so I'd say it mostly covers the base that there can be rap to it, but yeah all electro swing is very varied

Some of the ones I listen to are ones like Caravan Palace, old chap, parov stelar.
