I still use my 2020! ✊🏼 I've realized its not really about gear (for me) I can make damn near anything sound high quality just within the box Appreciate you highlighting this piece of gear, so more people are informed! 🙏🏻
Just got an 2020 a few months ago. I don't have any complaints about it and anytime I get a bad sound it's usually because I'm recording in a shity room
I f*ng love you man, you are like a teacher to me 'cause I'm an up and coming artist and I'm so looking forward to work with you when I learn a tiny bit more things!! Huge love and appreciation man, Keep KILLIN IT !!!
i think you should have tried to gain match the 2 mics before the signal goes through the fx chain. if you have the same settings in the plugins the compressor will have a lesser effect on the at-2020 signal compared to the at-4050. you can see in the waveform that the 4050 signal is louder and sits above the mix. you could also use eq before the chain on the 2020 to get a similar tone (a bit of low cut and high shelf) but besider that they are pretty close. the major difference is that the at4050 has the option to thange the pickup pattern and a pad button (in case you want to scream into it and not get a distorted mess before the preamp stage i think) and most probably for that price it has a lower noise floor
@@andreivoinescu9364 that’s a different type of test that can be done. it’s not one set way to compare mics. I wanted to show with all things being equal what would the differences be which opens up discussion about what ppl hear differently between the 2 without changing anything.
@SKYJORDXN well i understand but you should at least try to match the gain as the ear perceives a louder sound to have a different tamber. A quieter sound sounds a bit more bassy to our ears so at higher volume is perceived to have more clarity (more presence in the high frequencies) and cuts through the mix. Also the gain affects the dynamics both on the dry sound due to our ears and also doesn't trigger the compressor. Most people would turn up the gain on the 2020. I get the fact that using a eq to match the tone isn't representative of the microphone's sound.
You’re the man bro and if it’s anybody that could make it happen , it’s you .. Stam audio has created a u87 tube mic … it be 🔥 if you could review … keep it up bro 💯
Aite twin let’s see… Daw of Preference is Pro tools just because of the way I came up and had to use in the studio If I don’t use pro tools my go to tends to waver between FL and Ableton as first choices then Logic Pro The simplest one in my opinion seems to be FL or Ableton pretty much easy to learn without being intimidated But pro tools isn’t hard to learn and once you do the workflow is easy But it kinda depends on what you do. But FL is prolly the better mix of all of them
@@SKYJORDXN Thanks slime I’ll be recording just vocals. I’ll check out FL first and when I’m comfortable making music, I’ll switch to pro tools. Thanks slime, very helpful
AT 4050 did sound better ngl. But will the average audience know the difference or even care? Prolly Not. Bro kurt cobain used a shure sm58 (its an 100$ microphone) for his projects. Bro 2020 is a great mic. I have the 4040 and i have watched endless videos on the 2020 and watched some of my favorite artists right now record on a 2020 and i regret not just saving the money and getting the 2020. I could of also saved money on my interface a scarlet solo would of been enough but i spent twice as much on mine , although its great its not needed. You can make some real bangers with the right mixing on budget gear!

thoughts on the AT2020 vs AT2035?
i used to have a 2035 and it had more of a brighter sound to me
@@SKYJORDXNwhich one would you say is better for deep voice male rap vocals?
@dudethelostchild 2035 would give you a brighter sound going into it the daw so you won’t have to over EQ it
