- This is my impression of the brand new Chimera Electric BMX Bike 2024!!! The Chimera bike is an electric BMX bike.
The Chimera combines my two favorite things: e-bikes, and Bmx!

Thank you for showing the Chimera on your channel. A bit of information that's important: The short range you cite only applies to the insane mode of 3800 watts using our 52v/8.4ah Molicel P42A pack. Many riders turn the wattage down using our mobile app to around 1200 watts to achieve up to 20 miles of throttling range on that pack while still having impressive power and speed. In addition, we're now offering a 36V 15ah Samsung 50S pack that gives riders between 20 to 40 miles of throttling range at street legal speeds with similarly high torque. These battery packs are the same weight and compact size, and can be swapped out on the fly.

In addition, I’d really like to find a way to test out the new black version of the Chimera in person someday. That colorway just helps to blend the battery in with the frame perfectly, bringing it all together.

what mobile app controls the chimera ? im wondering bc i was going to order one soon and would like to already have the app installed and ready
@@brysonpritchard3030 Interesting timing on this question! We're already in beta testing of our own Chimera app, and releasing it soon to the app stores. Super simple. Fine-grained control of all functions. In the meantime, we've been using an app called "Kilowatt" available through testflight.
I love my Chimera! Ive gotten roughly 20mi with settings dialed down - same torque and speed ramp up, only lower top speeds when you do that. Check out my Chimera playlist for more!

I already has an ebike like this just the tires are thinner...I spent 600 for the bicycle and got a mid drive motor kit with top of the line display for about 800. The battery was a 52v 750w tiny battery I put inside a small bag which was secured to the rear of my seat. You can't even tell it was a battery. Batter cost about 400. I had a bike shop put them together about 200. In theory the bike could go 35mph and could go over 25 miles throttle only. Bike weighted only about 37lbs with everything as well. I could use pedal assist and throttle! 9 speed! I should be able to do the same on a regular BMX bike but I like folders so. The only drawback with this bike is that it's more a 20 inch road bike!

@@kingslepton I agree, those are all great bikes. The only thing to keep in mind with the Talaria and the Surron, is that those are both technically illegal to ride on streets and bike paths. So if you ride those, you just gotta be careful

I would say range is relative. It all depends on how many amps you have and your Wh/mi. Nothing magical about that.

Okay so can't you like reduce the power output so that the range doubles or triples? Also I don't get the weight okay so it's a 40 lb bike but it's only like 20 lb heavier than your average bike that's really not much weight. Like between 35 and 40 years old I jumped up 40lbs but I can still bike like a champ... 40 lb ain't shit.
I actually really like the look of this bike. I like how it's easy to work on and all the components are separated so they're easily accessible. I kind of hate the banana seats or some of the other designs of other electric BMXs. This one hands down is way nicer in my opinion. Bike chains have always been a risk of catching pants so don't wear pants to snag in bike chains.
Honestly this bike is amazing to me. I think as long as they have instead of a heads-up display maybe a three-button option where you can have efficiency, performance, and a custom option for the bikes output.
@@matthewhealy4752 Yeah, it’s a sick bike all around in terms of looks and performance. I learned more info after this review, and put it into my follow up video the Chimera Black Shadow. My opinion of the bike and the brand increased even more by that video. I’m hoping to make an in depth review if I can ever make it back out to LA.

Hey, I’ve talked to the owner since making this video, and he explained some ways to increase the mileage. I have a video on the new black model, and it’s much less expensive with a longer range. You can basically tune it to your liking. I’d be interested to see what you think of that model. Thanks
