In most places it is illegal for it to have a throttle. There are three types of classes for E bikes so for that assisted speed it cannot have a throttle. In the USA as far as I am aware of by law?
@@JerrodLandon Yeah the e-bike laws are ever changing, however there are companies in USA like Aventon, who do make a bike with a top speed of 28 mph + a throttle. Traditional bike companies like Specialized just don’t like the idea of a throttle, and that’s cool too. I still like the bike. What do you ride?
$3.84 at Culver’s? For what? Where?! WHEN?!?!? 😂
@@Mattball82 Lol, I think it was for a “mini” ice cream 😂
Des Moines ah
If I have seen a worse bike review I can't remember it.

What does reformat mean?
@@Tudy_ChiChi It means to delete the footage.
what mode do you usually ride in? or do you constantly change, idk if i should get a soltera or a commuter level 2
@@mbuckets3 I stay in level 1, it’s more than enough assistance, I then use the throttle whenever I want a little more power. You can ride all day that way without battery issues. I personally like the look, and the weight of the Soltera 2 over the other Aventon models. I just prefer the sleek, undercover look that it has. 😎
hey, where's the discount at bro? i don't see it
@@mbuckets3 I will look into that now, they may have made some changes to the way it works.
@@mbuckets3 I just checked. You just want to click the link in the description to access the site, from there they already have the bike discounted under $1,000 so there isn’t an additional discount. That is a way better deal than I got on mine 😎
I got the matte black one and it looks good and rides great 👍
@@jimbo4203 Nice, that’s the one I want too!
hey is the battery solid?
also can you still unlock it to 25+ mph? looking to buy it soon
@@mbuckets3 Yes, the battery has held its charge nicely over time. No issues with V1 or V2. Please use my link in the description of the video if you do make the purchase. Thanks
I knew exactly how I was going to ride my turbo Vado SL so I got one without fenders , put on bigger tires and ride it on trails All the time, it's been a blast 😊
Your display looks different then mine
I have that boke
How fast?
@@Nickthewrestler This one goes 20 mph on throttle, and 28 on pedal assist. Could probably go faster with the wire cut
That’s cool
Nice bike but no front suspension.
@@hasher10001 That’s true, however I don’t miss it on a skinny tire road bike like this. That being said, I do also enjoy suspension on some other heavier bikes. It’s definitely more comfortable and smooth riding experience 😎
Thanks! I didn't realize i could do this. I was constantly hittiing the stock setting of 20mph and was like man i wish it would go just a little faster. Now it will lol thanks.
Thanks for this video! I have the Aventon Pace 3 and love it, but also looking at the Soletera. Thanks again for the review.😊
I have three e bikes. A 20 mph pedal assisted Trek FX, to ride with my wife on her Trek E Dual Sport, a 30 mph Fucare Gemini to run errands and take our dog for ride, and a 35 mph Raev GTX. E bikes allow me to ride every day, 5,000 miles a year, without ruining my knees.
@@brentcollins9727 That last what I’m talking about👍 That sounds like a perfect blend of bikes for every task too!! 😎
@@stkyfngez , riding is definitely my favorite thing to do. My next bike will hopefully be the Javelin, by Spark Cycleworks, in Connecticut. It’s almost a motorcycle.
@@brentcollins9727 that bike looks awesome, I would live to ride that!
Change to hydro brakes and the hack for 34mph
how do you hack it to 34 mph?
The only bikes that look cool are the Project BMX & Chimera the rest look weird.

Are the tires holding up well on gravel, then? Did you end up needing to swap them out? And, it’s been a year since you made this video-how’s the bike holding up now?
@@bhargobkakoty9204 The tires held up, and I never had to replace them. The bike held up great too, however I upgraded to the Soltera 2 this spring. I have a bunch of videos on my channel of that one too. It’s still my favorite all around bike 😎
@@stkyfngez Oh, that’s great to hear that the tires held up without any issues! I’m actually eyeing the Soltera 2 right now. The addition of the torque sensor is a big draw for me-it seems to offer a more natural riding experience compared to cadence. I’ll definitely check out your videos on the Soltera 2. Thanks for the heads-up!
@@bhargobkakoty9204 Awesome, that sounds good dude 😎
Where was that paved trail you were riding in the first half
It was at Gray's Lake Park in Des Moines Iowa 👍
My first ride on my new Biktrix Juggernaut Hub Duo with 27.5 x 3 inch tires was with no power on. I wanted to know how sad I would be pedaling the heavy e-bike should I lose power. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. About the same as pedaling my analog bike with a full load of groceries. I wouldn't want to be more than 5 miles from home should that ever happen, but I could still do it with extra whining. I changed the pedal assist from 5 to 9 and use 1-2 most of the time, though a strong headwind will have me going to 3 or 4. I try to use the throttle as little as possible, but some times showing off at red light intersections is fun using 85 nm of torque. I still like to have fun at 67 years old.
That was smart to test it out like that. It’s nice to know you can ride without power, and approximately how far you would be comfortable going. I’d love to check out the Juggernaut sometime, that looks like a sick bike. That’s awesome to hear your out there having fun like that at 67, I hope to be doing the same, never stop riding! 😎
No more whining about hills or headwinds with my E-Bike. I do all my grocery shopping with my E-Bike as I did with my analog bike, but now only concerned with volume of space and not added weight. Want 2 cases of beer? No problem now. I use the same huge shopping panniers as on my analog bike. Finding an E-Bike with a useable rear rack, or a way to add a touring rear rack like on my analog bike was a big buying point for me. I chose the Biktrix Juggernaut Hub Duo as my first E-Bike. By choice I have been carless for over 14 years and am 67 years old. I really like my E-Bike even though I am still not quite used to the 27.5 x 3 inch tires coming from 700C x 38 mm tires of my analog bike. Thanks for the video.
i like regular ones. anything over 10 kilos seems heavy
When you get older you'll appreciate a heavy fat tire ebike more. Mine has 7gears, 750W-52V motor, 910 WH or 17.5 amp/hour battery, shock absorbing front forks, thump absorbing seat post, and hydraulic disk brakes. The controller works in pedal assist that reads the gears and compensates speed, or if you pedal harder, the throttle assist takes over for a bigger boost. I'm just short of 70 years old, don't care who passes me, and many won't if I push the bike to it's limits. I've come to appreciate the features, range, and comfort of my Pedego.
That makes a lot of sense @cubestone. The fat tire bikes are definitely more comfortable in my experience, and it makes sense why that would take priority over a light weight bike for your rides. It sounds like you’ve got a great all around e-bike. I’ve been wanting to test out the Pedego bike lineup, so hopefully I can make a review in the future. I would definitely appreciate that 750W motor too, the 350W motor on my Soltera leaves me wanting a little more power at times. Thanks for checking out the video 😎
Any new & expensive E-bike today should be running a belt drive and rear internal hub gears.
right there! Alfine 8 speed plus gates
E-Bikes are for everyone 👍
I live in hilly terrain and would not want anything but my single-speed Rad Mission. I have altered it from 50/16 to 44/22 and that's it. Perfect!
I would say a proper ebike doesn't need gears. The pedals could directly drive the generator, whose resistence can be set to match your power output. The generator then provides energy for the motor that drives the vehicle. If excess power is generated, a buffer battery can be charged. Otherwise it can be depleted to get ahead quicker (e.g. maintain speed on ascend). The second motor should also have a regenerative braking mode. This way you can get rid of most of the fragile mechanics on the bike and you don't have to worry that you run out of battery (if you want to make this compromise, then an e-scooter is cheaper, more reliable and more comfortable).
@@svr5423 I definitely agree when it comes to a well built high end single speed bike. However the majority of the single speed e bikes that I’ve tested personally and tend to see on the road do not fall in the well built category unfortunately.
The ride1up CF racer 1 is incredible value for money if your budget stretches to $2,300. Can use it as a commuter on the weekdays and do club rides on the weekends.
Do E-Bikes Need Gears? No, unless you live in Switzerland on the Alps or you are buying E-MTB. Otherwise Belt driven single speed is more than capable going from 0-45km/h
@@DuBstep115 The gears are nice to increase resistance, and gain more speed on flat ground, or going up or down hills.
@@stkyfngez or turn off the assistance if you want to workout. That's what I do on electric mtb, pedal without assistance
@@DuBstep115 Even with the pedal assistance off, I still don’t receive enough resistance on single speed bikes, and even my Aventon Soltera 2 (which has gears) gets to that point.
@@stkyfngez Bruh, I have steel bike with 46-16 gearing. My quads are on fire and I and squat 200kg
I personally love that the battery is integrated. When i'm taking the bike to the gym, store, work, cinema etc. I never have to worry about carrying around a heavy battery. Just lock the bike and go. Longevity will be a question though since the battery only comes with a 2-year warranty i believe.
Has anyone successful swapped out the forks for suspension forks?
@@OlondonGreen Not I know of, but I’m sure it can be done. It would be interesting to see how it would ride with suspension.
