I actually see it as a sign of progress that such non-maimstream sources are allowed to speak in CUS debates. When I was at Cambridge in the 1980s I heard loads of Ministers, loads of wannabe Tory hacks, several foreign dignitaries. But John Pilger was never to be seen, nor was Jeremy Corbyn, nor was John Prescott for that matter.

The young chap still repeats this accusation to which Kennard again adamantly deny this. The kid needs to clear the wax out of his ears. Kennard clearly did not say Israeli police arrested Asa. He said the 13 police officers raided Asa's house. What is wrong with this crowd of people?? So embarrassing.

Usually we allow Points of Interest so that audience members can make brief challenges to the guest speakers; these interventions are supposed to be kept under 30 seconds & phrased as a question. It is the perogative of the guest speaker to accept or deny the intervention - on this occasion some audience members were in breach of these terms and were addressed by the President in Chair to prevent any unfair time disqualifications to the speaker's alloted time.

Matt Kennard is a brilliant journalist and advocate for true democracy.
Pity we couldn't hear most of the questions. Can you guys not afford a roving mic?

Thanks for watching the debate, sadly we don’t usually provide microphones for interventions for a number of reasons (particularly obstruction of speaker’s time limits/taking too long to provide mics). Each speaker has around 10 minutes to make their point, audience members can make interventions if agreed by the speaker; the audience interventions must be under 30 seconds and phrased as a question; as a result it isn’t always feasible for our staff to get microphones to participants quickly enough. We do agree that the lack of audibility of the participants does impact the overall experience and we’ll look into ways we can make this work more favourably for our viewers - thanks for your comment and feedback and hope you still enjoy our videos!

@@cambridgeunionsoc1815 Perhaps this problem would be less likely to arise if the chairperson included in the introduction a polite request for people not to interrupt the speaker but to wait for the allotted discussion time following the main speech. I've seen that in quite a few debates.

We hold “floor speeches” that take place between each round of proposition & opposition speakers that allows participants to express their views with access to microphones - we have had however had issues in the past with permission/publicity regarding published videos of audience participants so we exclusively feature the floor speeches on the live broadcasts as to protect both free speech whilst also trying to protect attributions of our audience members that may wish to remain anonymous

@@cambridgeunionsoc1815 Maybe you could add subtitles, or get someone with a mic to repeat or summarise the questions/floor speeches. Thanks for the response btw!

Well done Matt, fantastic address and debate….anyone who hasn’t read The Racket should do so…especially our ginger friend who asked the questions during the address….maybe you will learn something about the truth hidden behind the veil.

You would do good to take on board what Matt is saying. Easily the best journalist in the UK.
Would say that it's a journalist job to report objective reality and if that holds power to account, so be it.
