Hello from Victoria, BC! 8:06 The decimation of the forest was caused by forest fires. On a positive note, look how much new forest growth is popping up around the burnt out tree trunks!
That is very interesting and something I had not heard before. It certainly puts a much more positive light on what we saw. The worst cases were on the trees in the more remote areas closer to the ocean. Many trees that were not actually dead looked in very poor shape with pale vegetation. I do think that lower rainfall had stressed them but I am no tree expert.
In south Dakota we have had a problem with our pines dying in the Black Hills, ours is a beetle, do you have any idea what cause the destruction that you saw? Massive amounts of spraying have made ours look better, but it is still an ongoing problem.
I believe the beetle problem is mostly in the interior of our Province(BC). I've lived and travelled on the coast of BC all my life and those trees have always been like that(I'm 62). There was some limited research done in 2008 into this issue .. most of the dead trees are Yellow Cedar ... although Red Cedar often grows with "dead looking" tops too. Some of the dead trees are estimated to be over a hundred years old ... so it's not a new thing. One "guess" mentioned in the research is that the Yellow Cedar is susceptible to freezing temperaturs due to lack of topsoil in the affected areas. More info here in this paper published online, if you're interested .. books.google.ca/books?id=BazKD3ZcavEC&pg=PP1&lpg=PP1&dq=north+west+bc+coast+dead+trees&source=bl&ots=oSwLsPTpa8&sig=fIaHSo4uj1ZSVL7I9TbHNmBoaj8&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj3yqeqib3XAhVRz2MKHXz5D4gQ6AEIaTAQ#v=onepage&q=north%20west%20bc%20coast%20dead%20trees&f=false
You mention the trees dying off, you don't think it has anything to do with CHEMTRAILS/spraying day an night! Yes its devastating, I see it here in my own back yard of Rhodeisland! I walk the shores where green crabs & horseshoe crabs also twinkling periwinkles were in abundance! Unfortunately there are no more.Just my opinion & observation. Do the people in Alaska say why the trees are dying? My Inquiring mind never stops! LOL
I think the trees are stressed due to less rain and higher temperatures and the bark beetle is moving north as winters get less cold. Every year when we go north we see less snow and the streams, fed by that snow, dry up earlier - before the salmon arrive and they cannot get up those streams to spawn.
We have just arrived baxk after another cruise in British Columbia. Have seen many trees dying in certain areas. Not yet able to ascertain the reason. Could be due to the bark beetle or stress due to lack of rain. It is depressing to see. Hope to find out more before my next video.
Reminder: Atlantic Salmon are not true salmon. They must be fed food with pigment to make them look like salmon. "Wild Atlantic salmon" are more like cod...grey or whitish meat.
Tony Fleming The food they feed "Atlantic" Salmon usually has dye or pigment in it and adds pink color to the meat. Recently I read a story where Atlantic Salmon escaped their pen in British Columbia(I think). There was a hysteria that they would mix with the Pacific Salmon and cause an environmental disaster. Scientists say the two types cannot breed together
In these traumatic times your videos just give me peace. They just ease my pain and make me feel like the World is a beautiful place. So thank you Tony for showing us all it is worth saving.... :-))
"You just need the will and the spirit of adventure." Well said, Mr. Fleming.

just looked it up...ours is also the bark beetle, but ours turns brown and really from a distance looks like someone sprayed with liquid manure
