To all the people who have liked or commented on this video, first I want to say thank you for watching, I enjoyed reading your guy’s stories. But I want to say I finally created a clan and it’s called, All The Presidents Men.
To give lore the name is from a movie that is becoming one of my favorites and the movie is about two guys who expose the president . And even though I didn’t expose anyone really , i did “expose” the solo side of destiny. And with that if you want to join , then I’ll see you there

Well looks like you struck a nerve because there are plenty solo players out there.
I've been playing since beta and in that time made friends and did very few raids.
the main reason for that is I never wanted to have people complain! Raids are too stressful for me. I was able to complete one raid when there was a cheese of have 12 players on. It was the most fun I ever had because even if you fucked up someone else was round to pick up the slack. I wouldn't mind playing with you if you don't mind carrying an old man LOL over 60! send friend request

There was a kid who joined our D1 raid group during RoI. We were adults who met at the100 for King's Fall a year before. We welcomed him and he did very well. Eventually life brought us to different places, but not before he sent a heartfelt party message, thanking us for all the fun times and moral support. Hearing your story now made me realize that message probably meant much more than I thought then.

I am 58 years old and my sons got me into Destiny. Neither of them play very often and I play every night. It is always solo or in matchmaking. Would love to raid, but no experience in it. Need to get some of these younger players to be patient and show us the ropes. Nice to hear of other older players on here. All the best. I am "Ur Ma" on D2.

5 year-old guardian here, my friends introduced me to Destiny's universe when Forsaken was launched, I've hearded about Destiny 2 before that, but I never wanted to touch it even with a stick, but I gave it an opportunity, it was all fun until Season of the Opulence came to us, all my friends left the game and they never returned, then I shared activities during the next couple of years with a lot of clans, making friends around the globe and now, I'm the leader of my own clan (we're spanish talkers btw), it's crazy to think how my original fireteam left and how i gained up a more experienced fireteam, so much things has changed since 2018.

I've been playing solo ever since Light fall came out. I was the only person in my clan who would log on and do activities, but now i feel kinda lonely. But I'm not fond of meeting other Guardians sometimes because some can a bit too...extreme. Like, they take this game seriously while i just want to hang out with someone. I'm thinking about using the fireteam finder feature. I just hope my crippling anxiety doesn't get the best of me.

    • @VoxNdoc
      @VoxNdoc 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Agreed, I love destiny and I have like two friends I play with on a semi-weekly basis. I've had a lot of bad experiences with the game especially just people being angry and yelling at me for not being good enough at the game. I usually play gambit and do the story missions. It's a lonely road but honestly it makes me not as anxious as playing because my account had to be remade because the platform I played on died 😅
I've tried raiding again, but with how long I've been gone for and how different everything is since I've left just makes me feel better playing alone. I'm usually a very upbeat person for raids and everything but genuinely after everything I've encountered with the community it's just put me into a place where I feel uncomfortable with playing with large groups.

You know what man , people like you will be the best people to teach and guide other solo players who wants to do raids / dungeons but don’t have friends who play the game or just nervous to try , because you clearly understand and sympathise with them ! You also said something very important when u were doing the VOG raid - you said the group was serious and not talking and having fun … and that made me tear up tbh , you know why ? Because people like you and me who just wanna have FUN are rare in a LFG
so go ahead and start your clan my guy .. people like you are what every game needs .

I always loved teaching one or two people new positions in raids when my group got good at them because imparting more knowledge and making people more versatile meant they'd get kicked less in their next group hopefully. Just a thought as you get better ;)

Low-key this hurts my heart. I try teaching/playing with as many new/baby lights as possible. Ik it's an extremely toxic game/community for anyone new to the D2 experience(which is heartbreaking) & Ik I'm patient enough to help those seeking guidance in game. I'd just rather be the reason more "lil lights" choose to continue playing Destiny, not give them a reason to give up on it. There are still plenty of players like me here that are willing to put in the time/effort showing blueberries the ins & outs. (Just please don't get dissuaded by the toxic many, because someone like me maybe in your next lobby!)

4:36 I feel you Angel, I remember the days you can join up a session like its more of a social game, now with D2 where Bungie is focused on their "core" desired player base which would lean towards challenging content like GMNF with tough Champions or Trials, on top of the mentality to get the most meta build. It doesn't leave a lot for us solo or on/off again casual players to get a sense of enjoyment of just playing the game and meet other like minded folks to foster a great fireteam and slowly work towards the Raids and Endgame.

Man. In D1 I used to raid all the time while I played and would teach people and have no problem carrying. Now in D2 my raid group moved on and I've been mainly a solo player and it's been super rough. I think I've done maybe two whole raids in their entirety while having maybe 10+ total attempts to even try to do raids. That experience you have where you ask questions and it's like talking to a rock is all too common. It's even worse with the amount of people who are willing to teach but definitely don't have the patience to do so. I've never been kicked or dumped on by other players in LFG groups but I've seen it in too many attempts and been in too many LFG raid groups with a revolving door cast of people coming in and out. I've basically given up on raiding and just do solo dungeon content when I want a decent and fun challenge.

      @oxsila 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

When you say no one will tell you what's going on, are you hosting a run specificially for learning or are you joining a normal run expecting people to teach you ?
Remember in normal runs, people don't have all the time in the world. You can't expect everyone to just help you. Some people will help you and that's great but you shouldn't expect it unless you do a run specificially for learning. Sherpa runs you know.

    • @NuclearRizzicist
      @NuclearRizzicist 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@oxsila people might not have all the time in the world, but being part of the team that just boots the unknowing instead of teaching them only contributes to the problem and circles it right back to your feet. I argue with a buddy of mine about this all the time, it shouldn't be on the newbies to know what everything means or how to do it, we are a community for a reason, behave like it.
Secondly, anyone walking into high end content expecting it to go fast or perfect is fucking delusional. Its content designed to be long, hard, and challenging, not burnt through and steamrolled. If you're unwilling to take the time to teach, because you dont have the time, that's on you for not making the time for trying to do something time consuming. Its not on the new players to be perfect, its on us existing players to just be decent human being and be willing to give someone a chance. Again: if you boot someone instead of teaching them, youre not solving the issue. Youre pushing it onto someone else for someone else to bitch about and then it eventually comes back to you again for you to bitch about. People with the "not my problem you shouldve known" mentality are the exact thing this video is calling out, its toxic, scummy, degenerative and beyond ignorant. Im sick of this playerbase ignoring everything beyond 5 feet in front of them and slapping "not my problem" or "cry harder" or any iteration of the blanket ignorant response as a legitimate argument when its just you people refusing to be more open minded.

I played solo for a little bit, but LFG is pretty awful. People don't really care about you, and over time that encourages you to not care about people in a vicious cycle. When I wasn't in a clan, I was actively looking and trying them out til I would find one that vibed with me.
EDIT: To be clear, trying out clans is also pretty rough mentally, but once you find one, its game-changing over the long term.

  • @s9523pink

Bro, I have been playing Destiny since the absolute beginning, players have always been competitive but I remember most of our D1 players were also more chilled and more team oriented and a lot more forgiving. The player group, in general, seems to have gotten less forgiving, hyper competitive and less patient. But there are still players, myself included, who will give advice but are patient. Like today, myself and 2 other players I invited thru “Fireteam,” to actually do the final Calus boss on Legendary. Bro you gotta move during that final, everyone initially just stood in areas and got killed, except I kept moving and died very little…we had tons of wipes, each of those guys quit before I did; 2-3 hours later, after my 3rd group quit, I called it a day. Persistence wins a lot of hard stuff in Destiny2, we did a lot more grinding in D1, and I think it made us way more patient and way more understanding. Now a lot of folks have cheeses and builds, which is cool, but they’re on short fuses and little is shared unless you watch guys like Rick Kackis. But a lot has changed, glad you’re teaching and that’s the way to go, always friend players who hang with you, even if a few stick, that’s better than zero.

I feel you there, people go on and on about how you can use lfg to just do anything and theres no reason not to, but like, the majority of my lfg experiences have been negative to the point where i genuinely dont like raiding anymore. Any time someone asks me to do a raid, i feel bad because i want to help them with the raid or play with a friend, but i get this inexplicable feeling of anxiety or something that made me not want to do anything.
Even when its my friends, people i get along with really well, i still hate doing raids, which sucks because i really want some of the raid weapons. Then i end up forcing myself to raid with them and i end up hating it more, and its all because of lfg. Everyone says "lfg isnt bad and the bad teams are a small portion of the playerbase" but the fact of the matter is that most of the times i played it, i've had bad experiences

I feel the same way man, I used to raid all the time. After my friends stopped playing, I had to go through LFG. And I had a couple good runs with random people, but most were horrible. Most people were bitter or short tempered if you didn't know the secret strategy they do. There are just too many unpatient people that make this community look unwelcoming.

My first ever vog completion was joining in a clan run that i never interacted with previously. No mic,and i barely knew what to do.i was shaking so bad and froze when it came to shooting those red boxes(oracles? I forget). But then they yelled my name and i snapped back. We two phased and i got vex. Super memorable for me. It also was the starting point of me trying to do endgame activities. I wonder what that clan is doing now. I don't think id be playing today still without them.

    This is so relatable.
I am also a solo player now but I used to be part of a very active group. We used to grind endgame content on the regular and up until Witch Queen, I had every exotic. That being the case, it feels kind of unfair now to be treated like a “new light” because I don’t have all of the new meta stuff.
One thing that I have noticed is how build customizability has vastly improved over the years but, ironically, build creativity is being squashed by the community. What I mean by that is; when you join a group for a raid or any end game content, they want you to use exactly what the streamers have labeled “meta.” These sort of min-maxed, glass cannon, DPS speedrunner builds.
Even though builds can be so much more diverse and interesting and effective in different ways, people will straight up kick you if you try to use some unique build or weapon combination. I run Sixth Coyote, Void Hunter in Trials and all the time, people call it a “meme build” or try to micromanage my build or play style. The thing is, being able to play and succeed, any way you want, is what Bungie wanted. The DPS and stat numbers don’t always reflect effectiveness because different people are good with different weapons and play styles.
Furthermore, I think that one of the most toxic additions to the game was Raid Report / Trials Report. It allows players to just filter out middling and low ranked players in favor of higher KDA or raid clears which means that good players always group up with good players and the less skilled players are forced to settle with lower skilled teammates which often results in match losses or more deaths and, by extension, a further decreasing rank on these sites. This dynamic is responsible for further widening the gap between top players and average players.

I have like 3500 hours in d2 and have played most of it solo, it's rough and the community can be a bit toxic towards new players. Hopefully things will get better in the future, I also stopped playing destiny after witch queen bcs I feel like the corporate side of bungie is killing the stuff I fell in love with.

I agree so much with you, I was a solo player and trying to get people to play the game was hard, they really wanted you to knew all the things and if you said that you didn't know or that you wanted to learn they would kick you out in no time. I also learned that the best times to try and get a group to play with is when there is a new raid or dungeon so you can go to lfg servers and start playing with other people till you find someone you enjoyed playing with and add them, I met a lot of people this way and my actual raid/squad group. Also nice video :D

I did absolutely everything in Destiny 1 (exceptget to the lighthouse). Played the heck out of Destiny 2, but my whole friend group disappeared, so I've never done raids or even dungeons. Recently some other friends have gotten into it, but they're not very good at the game. And neither am I anymore; I had a stroke 4 years ago, so my reaction times are garbage now. The game is rough, but I still manage to have fun.

If you’re a new player to Destiny 2 and are only interested in the campaign here are a few things to understand.
You start the game off fairly powerful. The reasoning for this is for you to be able to jump in with your friends and play together online, but if you’re only interested in the campaign its to your benefit because you don’t have to grind so hard to enjoy the story.
The Timeline is just a recap of the entire story up to The Final Shape. Some recaps are cinematic, some you have to read, and some are playable quests. As a new player you’ll want to play these quests to get the reward at the end.
Bungie now offers Shadowkeep and Beyond Light campaigns for free. Only the campaigns. To get the extra goodies that come with these respected dlc’s you’ll have to purchase their packs. again if you just want to play the campaigns don’t worry about it for now.
New Light not to be mistaken for Beyond Light, NEW LIGHT is an introduction to game and its mechanics. I recommend playing through it for as long as you can tolerate it and than start Shadowkeep. The first 3 dlc’s released are no longer available to download or purchase Bungie vaulted them so Shadow Keep is where the playable story campaign begins.
To start Shadowkeep you have to go to the Moon and click on the blue banner that will get you started.
Lastly, I just want to stress not to over think it. It a MMO and if you never played a game like this than it can be overwhelming. MMO don’t play like a traditional video game I.e God of War. You’re going to see other players on the map hopping around doing their own quests or even the same one you’re doing. Just ignore it and have fun. By the time you’ve finished the two dlc campaigns I guarantee you’ll have a better understanding of the game and its mechanics.

I only decided to play raids as a solo player during lightfall because I was too scared of messing up and getting kicked but I searched in a discord lfg for sherpa runs so that it's expected that you don't know the raid mechanics. Thats the only way I played through all the raids to get the guardian ranks thing. Even now when I use lfg I only join groups that have something like "chill" in the post.

I felt that, raiding is so hard, especially when trying to keep up while learning, Deep stone is probably my favorite of the ones I've beat, and I have a nice legendary scout rifle to show for it, but no exotics, the craziest thing I've gotten to do is climb my way all the way to Nezerac in Root of nightmares on contest, might've been the easiest raid, but I went through so much headache at the end trying to beat Nezerac, the amount of LFG groups that came and went, never beat the guy, but I can definitely say I did well
As a warlock, I also dislike the "well of radiance meta", there are so many strong builds out there, I was one of the few who cheered a little when starfire fell from grace, it was great, but it was a curse, I have a build for every subclass on Warlock, but there's always the day when you'll hear "hey can you run well"

Even now I have a clan, but those guys, while awesome, no life the game get everything then bounce to other games till the next expansion. Since i cant play as often i end up left out of a lot of stuff after they leave. And the new in game lfg is just trash. Its all must have this and that with 30+ completions. Its just nice to hear others have a similar experience and feel as awkward as i do about talking to new people. Stay cool bro.

  • @MrMightyZ
    @MrMightyZ 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Good on you for talking about it because it can feel super awkward.
In my experience that sort of cold response like you had from those guys who wouldn’t talk to you much might be from guys who are lacking in personal confidence so they feel like they always have to act “cool” rather than just talk openly and honestly.
You’re nervous but you’re prepared to show that and ask advice.
But guys like these feel like they either have to act like they know everything or talk smack.
The only guy I knew personally who acted like that had a Dad who treated him very badly so it could even be something like that.
Whatever the reason it’s pretty sad.
Anyway I also firmly believe that no one who’s at least somewhat happy and trying to learn and have fun is ever going to treat anyone like that.
TL/DR It’s definitely not you, it’s definitely them. Which is pretty much what you said anyway😁

Little humblebrag, but what you described at the start of VoG is what my group tries to stay away from when we pick up LFGs.
We are a group of 4, so we often have to find our last 2 people via LFG. We usually invite them to discord if they have it, or we all join in-game VC to be able to talk to them. We don't let up on the name-calling and the joke making, and we try to include them right from the start.
We all were lone LFGs at one point and we know how awkward and how daunting it can be to join a "tense" group, so we pretty much immediately set the vibes of "here to have fun first".
Also, I wholly relate to the teaching thing you brought up. I recently have been joining LFGs that say "need help" or something like that, and it has been super rewarding.
This was a great video to listen to. As someone who plays solo during the week, I totally get what you mean by "Destiny is peak when playing with other people".

I solo'd most of the time too. i have a buddy that do some GM together, like duo, and some raids encounter duo but we can't really do whole raid because our skill wasnt that godly. We manage to convince friends of friends to try out D2, and guide them to do raids. We go really slow, like 1 ecounter per day and hope to clear the raid in a week. it goes really well until IRL pulls them the other way. I still do GMs on and off in d2, but really finding a decent human for a consistent raid party or game is so hard. I just created a clan though but my problem with most is probably play time, because its gmt+8, and we usually play like kinda late >11pm

I’ve been playing mostly solo for years now, I’ve done everything from normal dungeons and raids to flawless raids and master challenges and day one completions all through lfg and I’ve had a couple bad experiences but overall most people are great, its shit that you and some others have the majority of their experience be bad, I’ll be happy to teach and help you but I’m literally in the same boat, I got diagnosed with social anxiety when I was 9 so I got very nervous about doing raids and talking to people even to this day with me being a very confident and competent player with knowing more than most d2 TH-camr about the game and I started playing destiny one when I was 8 and just about to go to university (college) as well, it takes time and just not letting some negative assholes ruin your fun it’s a big problem that bungie can’t really fix that’s why me and others in the clan that are experienced try to take other clanmates through dungeons and raids, they use some of the worst load outs and weapons I’ve ever seen but we make it work and I try to guide them, I’m lucky in a way because of my skill and knowledge I can hold peoples weight and push them without burdening them but people who can do that either have to big of an ego or cant be bothered teaching others at all which is sad

I'm not exactly a Destiny player, but I've played MMOs before. And from my experience LFGs are generally for when people want to get a job done, like mercenary work. You're kinda expected to know what to do beforehand, unless the LFG specifically says its for practice.
I used to have trouble setting up LFGs because i was scared no one would join, but after experimenting with it, it just takes the right setting up.
I really suggest if what your looking for is a dedicated group, try to recruit people who want the same things as you. Not necessarily in a clan per say, but in a raid group you all plan together and make time for weekly.
For looking for friends though, I highly suggest it be done in a clan or something. You can find people in LFGs that are really cool to be friends with, but those are really rare.

I completely feel this, because I experienced the same kind of stuff, especially when lfg raiding. When people start getting p'd off because we can't even clear the first encounter (Looking at you, Crota), and I'm the last one alive because revive tokens are depleted, I'm kind of hesitant to stay in the group. I've even tried three hours to keep going but in the end, I got tired of all the insults and people yelling at each other, even clanmates. I have a better time running content solo, though that means I can't do raids or other endgame pve content anymore.

I feel you. I don’t know what I’d do without my two mates who got me into the game. I joined in like the last two weeks of Forsaken. They guided me, got me up to speed with things. I’m still going to them for advice and tips even at 2K hours in! But raids always scared me because I didn’t want to speak to randoms. My 3rd Raid was a DSC, and the guys were the coldest and most silent people ever. I didn’t raid for half a year before I finally worked up the confidence to find a Lastwish Sherpa. He was the funniest guy and so were his friends, it made my raid time feel special. Best of all he was also Aussie. I’m in his clan now and we raided every weekend for almost a year. That confidence is why I now have all the raid seals now, only one I’m missing is the Crota one and I’m set to get it by the time new year hits. They have since been busy irl and we’ve not been able to raid but I still do wish to raid a lot. Sadly raid culture these days is just X encounter farm. No one wants challenges, seals, or even to just do a full clear. Even when you do find they’re obsessed with going out of bounds, speedrun starts and it’s so annoying. The barrier to entry does feel high looking back on it, it is endgame PvE after all. But in saying that, the culture is bad. People treat normal raids sometimes like they are master challenge runs. It’s for this reason I hope to be a Sherpa someday. To make other people feel welcome and like raids.

Yep as a somewhat solo player since D1 I became a swiss army knife for all the raids. I didn't get gally until 2 months before its nerf. But I learned all the mechanics as a titan. Made me more valuable than a person with a gally. Id be the wierdo inviting people in the tower to me soloing nightfalls for them or taking them through raids, whether your a kid or someone new to the activity. I was the most patient person and stayed to help tell 3 in the morning. Now its reversed for me, but not in a good way. I've been so buisy at work now. Used to look for a group that won't kick me because I don't know any mechanics. So I stopped doing raids or dungeons. Only thing I do are seasonal activities, crucible, strikes, gambit, and solo trials. Never got to do trails of the nine. Only been able to solo 1 dungeon. I've yet to finish all the other dungeons too. D2 made everyone less patient and more nasty over the years too. There is a friend that rarely gets on. But when she does, it's so much more fun with her.

We did everything, raids, trials, nightfalls, etc. Then D2 came around and only 3 of us were left. It was fun for a month or two, but we left the game before we even completed a raid together.

As a kinda shy, predominantly solo player that does LFG a bit, I feel this. The only D1 Raid I ever did was the Y1 version of VoG like, a week before Warmind released because I hadn't bought the D1 DLCs. Then I bought D2 with all the DLCs like, week 2 of Warmind. I've LFG'd so many raids in D2, made a few decent friends, hopped clans like, 5 times. I convinced (read; sorta gaslight?) one of my old buddies from Halo 5 LFG into playing this game years ago and we still play together fairly consistently. He's the only reason I have 90% of my dungeon clears and maybe 3 of the raid clears.
I've got the boon of a fairly deep voice so thankfully I've managed to avoid being called a kid and kicked for that, but I'm like, barely older than you are. It's been funny actually when I've been in party chats with people. A funny story I'll share of someone who I raided with a few times iirc guessed my age was at like ~25 when I was only about 18. That was a pretty funny shock to people and everyone got a solid laugh out of it. LFG can suck eggs a fair bit of the time but I've had the boon of making some pretty decent and funny memories out of it. Cheers to Fireteam Finder making the experience a little easier on people. The biggest thing is to remember to have fun and that it's a video game.
Also if you make that clan hmu, my current clan is dead in the water because most of the people I played with quit the game and a spot for solos to group up never hurts, as if the reaction to this video didn't make that apparent.

Basically when looking for groups best to join chill or newb friendly when you're doing it for the first time or it's been awhile. Also, I suggest making your own groups including new player or something in the title. I hate taking long on raids most of the time I'm trying to get in and out so I can catch up on something else I need to do. For this reason I don't really touch raids/dungeons I haven't learned within the first month of launch. I don't like wasting other people's time. But there are usually some new guy friendly rooms you just have to search for them.

Respects to you my guy. Ran D2 during Beyond Light. Dropped D2 after Witch Queen cause I wasn't feeling it anymore. Tried to get back into it w/ Lightfall but after that garbage campaign, I stopped playing entirely. Only played it for so long cause I have a whole friend group willing to run all the content together.
Idk how ppl can run this game solo cause this is def one of those games where "it's more fun w/ friends" really apply here. Yeah you can say that for any game that has multiplayer/co-op but even with games like Warframe, actual MMO's, Division, or Borderlands can be played by yourself despite the grindy nature of these games. So much of the fun content in D2 is pretty much locked through group play.

Been playing since destiny 1….STILL have never done a raid. i understand how you feel bro. The in game chat and fireteam finder have helped me find groups a TON. Still been kicked a couple times, but I’ve already cleared the new dungeon several times with random groups. Plus, you can make your OWN group and criteria. Just keep at it dude!! The majority of the community is super chill. Hit me up whenever you want to play!

You say you haven't done a raid, have you done one now that fireteam finder exists ? Root of Nightmares is a very very simple raid once you learn the planets encounter and even then, you might find a group that just puts you on ad clear for it.

@@oxsila I have not. I’ve found plenty for the new dungeon, though. It seems like they see my light level and don’t accept my application to join, lol.

I would highly advise never joining and instead hosting your own. I don't see any benefit to joining people. The time to wait for people to join is literal seconds especially if it's the new dungeon@@ashleejones586

I am a solo player since year 1 and played some raids with random people from facebook groups back then. I am just too shy and introverted to play with a larger group of strangers. Dungeons are fine, the mechanics are simple enough and it's just 2 other people

I've been playing the game for almost 2 years and have over 2000 hours in the game, but I still only have 4 raid clears; two on vog with my friends from school, and 2 lfg's on vow and ron.
But I've always been nervous about lfgs, and even doing Warlord's with my friend I was nervous getting someone to do final boss with us; but it went fine every time. Yesterday I managed to force myself into a vc in a discord server I'm in and it was great after I calmed down. I think I'll try to lfg something with my friends later. Thanks.

I know how that feels man being a solo player sucks especially knowing I’m capable of doing day 1’s but I’ll never be able to cause I can’t ever get a good group. I also completely understand the anxiety part It legit hurts even thinking about it.
But I was even younger then you when d1 came out I was 5-6 and did my first raid in taken king so I was 7 doing raids being made fun of for my voice and username. But I learned to just suffer through it and occasionally meet cool people who respected me even as a Squeaker.
And oh god the amount of times I got called a girl…. Traumatized forever by lfg.
