I absolutely love your attention to detail. No matter how small it is, without them, you'd be left with something that's just "close." Close doesn't cut it for me either! Great work bud
First rate build per usual Derek! That hat box is gorgeous! A great addition to your office on its own. It would be awesome to include the full pneumatic effect. Maybe a rig using canned air?
When I was a child I remember these from the ride. It would always startle me. But then ,someone sneezes and I jump, so there's that...Great job as usual. I enjoy spending my Saturday mornings with you.
Pretty Cool! I love seeing old technology come back to life, this build had to be fulfilling! I have never seen a blast up ghost before but its such a great idea for back in the day. Thanks for video!
Great build project, Derek, and one that may come in handy for the launch of my yard haunt this year. Have to admit, I was expecting it to end with a working pop-up in action, but you got it close enough. : ). I'd noticed fewer and fewer of these pop-ups working in the Mansion unless there were renovations, especially since some scenes have gotten brighter and brighter. Good seeing that some appear to have returned after this recent rehab. I really liked your paint job on the head mold in the spirit of the HM originals. Thanks!
Because I knew that it would be in my office, having it move just seemed like a bad idea. With air, at least. Plus the hatbox is pretty shallow and you'd still see its head when all the way down. Maybe some day in the future I'll make it move, but for now I'm just happy that it's not still sitting in a pile on the floor.
That looks incredible. Will it be a static display or do you have plans to make it move in a future tutorial? Either way it's awesome. Also: that hat box! Beautiful!
These things terrified me as a kid! I miss them now. Are they toned down on the ride now? They used to scream? Great build, I still don't know how you keep getting in my head.
@@alli_mode it may be. So many of these older gags break down and go unrepaired for months/years before magically working again. So it's possible that I just haven't seen it in the times I've been over the past few years.
@@alli_mode Yep, I agree, I recall seeing them pop up behind tombstones. Totally silent, slower and not very high. I may be wrong and I don't think they are lit as before either.
As a static dust collector...uh, collectible, I seem to focus on the stand more than the rocket skull. Since it is not going to move, do the side dowels need to go beyond the skull? Also, would a black paint job on the dowels make them blend into a dark background better?
Correct. The rods don’t need to go beyond the skull. It was just a personal design choice. Yes, painting the rods would definitely help them to disappear a bit more.
Here’s a tip when cutting fur: don’t use scissors, instead use a sharp blade to cut the back material to both avoid extreme shedding and to maintain as much fur as possible.
This is one of our favorite Haunted Mansion effects! Really loving this series! 😱🎃❤️
Thanks Kellen!
I can't believe Windex works for thinning airbrush paint. Especially considering how expensive actual airbrush paint thinner is.
Thanks for the tip!
You bet! It's definitely a good option.
Looking forward to the grand opening of the Van Oaks Hair Salon & Nail Emporium! Nice work! Would actually like to see it pop up!
HAHAHA. Us too!
One of my favorite effects from HM. Can't wait to see the office when it's completed!
Mine too. So simple, yet effective.

I love how each of these videos makes me crave seeing the final office reveal even more!
You can me both!

Cool ghost sculpt!
Awesome! Love haunted mansion (disney world version since that is the only one I've been to). Quality as usual!
Thanks dude!
Done Orlando and Paris need to try and get to California one year
Love the vintage fun-house look of this prop, and I agree, all that research is pretty fun.
Looks great! Love watching these videos...thank you once again!
Thanks so much!

@@VanOaksProps makes total sense, Derek.
Turned out really good, as usual! I wasn't aware of the Windex trick either, thanks.
Glad you liked it!
Awesome job. This was a great treat on my birthday!
Happy birthday!!!!
@@VanOaksProps thanks derek
Great job! This is one of my favorite projects that you’ve done. :) it turned out amazing
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it

Thanks! It'll be a static, dust collector...I mean, collectible.
Love it!!!!!
Thank you!
this series gives me lifeeeee
Glad you like it!
To reduce shedding with faux fur, cut the backing with a razor. Love the videos, keep em coming!
Good to know!
Wait wait wait... where did you find that sketch sheet of all those imagineer ideas . Also!!! Rocket skulls! Gonna make those for my yard this year!!!
Years of reference collecting from the internet
Awesome!
Thanks!
Sweet!!
thanks
Thanks for watching

They’re gone. They removed them when they added “Constance” to the attic.
Isn't there on in the graveyard?

@@VanOaksProps Yeah, I only learned in the past few years that some items I recall and haven't seen have just broken and gone un-repaired.

Does anyone know if this effect used in the Orland version?
I believe it is.
Where on earth did you find the model for that ghost head?! I’ve been looking for one for ages!
If you ever thought of re-producing them or selling them please let me know.

When you pulled out the yellow to paint, then you said "mix it with a little..." and you and I said "white" at the exact same time. 😂
Hahaha!
Might I suggest an ikea lazy Susan so you can rotate easier. It’s called SNUDDA is 15” I think and like $14.99
Thanks for the suggestion. I had one just off camera but didn’t use it. Lol
maaaaaaaan
Do you happen to have another blast up ghost face?
I do. Email me and we can talk more about it. My email is on the about page. I’d post it here but then I’d get spam from all over the place.
@@VanOaksProps ok
I waant thayt
I guess somewhere along the way i missed WHY Windex window cleaner...Sorry. Can any one explain or point to video to watch to learn, PLEASE.
It’s better for thinning acrylics than water and is cheaper than thinner made specifically for thinning acrylics.
The hat box is the kicker... Awesome build Derek!
Thanks John
