I met my wife online in 2016 when she was working in Hong Kong. We got to know each other by speaking on facebook messenger video everyday. I had been searching oversea's for about 4 year's. I had met a lot of women by the time I met her, so I was experienced with the scammer's, and the too needy women. I flew to the Philippines for the first time in July 2017. We were already committed before I even bought my plane ticket. It was my first time out of the USA. I was nervous. Everything was great. Her brother's and her met me at the airport. We met at the airport in Manila. We stayed the night in Manila and flew out to Dumaguette the next day, and then drove to her provincial barangay of Timbao. Her family accepted me with open arm's. We have been married five year's now, and have a three year old daughter. Life has never been better for me. I wish you the best young man.
That's great. We usually hear the bad stories, nice to hear about sone positive outcomes. I met my Filipina wife online, she was a nurse living in Northern Ireland at the time, we have been married 8 years, have a son about to turn 4. I get along great with my wife's family. It makes life easier.
Well at least he was smart enough to walk away from that family. There is no shortage of available Filipinas interested in a decent Foreigner. Best of luck to you.
The muslim in the philippines particularly from Mindanao are from a different tribe which kind of difficult to get along with Christian;s for some reasons I don't really know. To get married with the girl, they follow some traditions. But as friends, it's cool.
I am still listening. I am laughing my head off at times... this is among the most incredible stories I've ever heard. The lengths to fake her death...Daniel's fantastic
in a way you can’t put all the shade on her. .she probably was afraid for her life.. Muslims have killed their wives and her father had probably controlled her life since she was a child. that culture is real messed up. women get killed ,tortured, raped , beaten . I was corresponding with a Filipina years ago. just chat . met her on Facebook and stayed in touch with her. she met a guy online from an Arab country. never visited her but somehow he found out we were talking to each other online. She told me he said he was going to go back there and chop off her head. and he sent a threatening message to me on Facebook 😨at the time she was involved online with him he was in the process of trying to get a work visa for her to go to his country. she finally realized how dangerous this dude was he kept saying he was going to track her down and kill her if he ever found out she was talking to other dudes. 😮😮😮 after that I stopped corresponding with her out of fear for her safety. I always wonder what happened to her. 😢
My gf organized a housekeeper from our province town to go to Cebu to work for her brother. She got there and worked for a week and told him in tears that her son was very sick in hospital and didn't know what to do as he needed operation so he helped her out. I week later again in tears told him he died and she had to go home to bury him but had no money , he felt so bad for her he helped her again because she said she'd return after the funeral. After that she blocked contact with him and my gf. Then a week later my gf saw her and her son that died in the supermarket here. Praise the Lord lol
Sorry to hear what happened to you bro,I have been to the philippines 17 times and until my last visit i have enjoyed every place i visited and always felt safe and comortable around filipinos.,However on my last visit i decided to visit Cagayan De Oro has i had not been there before and honestly it was a terrible experience,I had booked a apartment for 8 weeks and it was late at night when i arrived.i woke up the next morning and the streets was full of burkha clad people.I needed food and i started to walk to see if i could locate a store, nobody spoke, nobody greeted me,nobody waved which was what i had become used to in the philippines. The muslim people men and women made no attempt to have anything to do with me unless i bought something from one of there stores. After being there a week i had managed to find a area which had catholic/christian filipinos and it was such a relief to see friendly people again,I told people how unwelcoming the muslims in the area where i was staying had made me feel and they said we understand and thats why we distance ourselves because once the muslims become a majority that there behaviour towards non muslims becomes quite disturbing and you are made to feel not welcome. You did the correct thing bro in not trying to continue with a muslim family, from my experience i would never consider dating a muslim...
I'm a retired expat living in Thailand. A few weeks ago I had to go to Penang to fix my visa. Muslim place. Ugh, unfriendly people, drab place. We had been in Danang a few weeks prior. The people there were awesome and it was a beautiful place. Totally opposite. Will never visit Penang again. And probably not Malaysia, plenty of other great places to visit.
I had a somewhat similar experience. years ago. 12 to be exact my friend persuaded me to consider finding a mate from the Philippines.. I went online and joined Filipina Cupid and was immediately bombarded with chat requests. this was bacywhen you could purchase monthly packages for around 30$ a month with unlimited chats of course now these dating sites structure it so you can spend thousands of dollars in credits. long story short I found a girl I started chatting with exclusively. finally got the courage to hop on a plane, but she lived in mindinao lasted about a year where I made about 8 trips - once a month for 8 days or so - large Muslim population and close to where insurgent terrorists were. I was the only white guy in the whole area and where she lived in a remote village I was stared at like I was a freak . I finally realized it was a very dangerous place for an American- not only because of the Muslims but also terrorists- after that I did meet my future wife in Manila and have been married 7 years now. but, man , I look back on that period when I was in mindinao and it still gives me the creeps ..😮
Guys seeing a pattern with these types of stories? Getting emotionally involved online and creating a fantasy in your head is not a very good idea. There are 1000's of great women in SE Asia.
No method of meeting Filipinas is 100% foolproof. I have heard horror stories about guys meeting girls in the Philippines, getting into romantic relationships, and finding out they have a jealous husband.
yes as if the Philippines is the only with beautiful women there are so many countries with lots of pretty girls why they kept coming here its not already the filipinas fault its the foreigners fault for letting yourself being fooled because your so desperate to find a woman here and i will tell all of you this will not be the last that it will happen filipinas who wants to marry foreigners with poor background i can 100% say its for the money period .
@@rolandmueller7218I’m met a guy here (California) at a wedding that was robbed by the girl (and her family) when he went to meet her in the Philippines. They took all of his money and his passport. He was able to contact another girl that he was talking to online (his second choice) and she helped him to get back to the USA. They ended up getting married and moving to California. At this same wedding where I met him, his wife started aggressively flirting with me. As I was just recently divorced myself, I was polite but not ready for that kind of trouble. She was really attractive though. I heard that they eventually got divorced.
online is so dicey. best way to meet a woman in a foreign country is BOOTS ON THE GROUND.if you’re able to spend at least 4 months if not longer so you meet several girls and get a taste for the culture. this guy’s online “romance “ is just one of several ways things can go south in a hurry. you can still get played meeting someone here coming out on a whim but your chances of finding someone genuine are better-that is, if you think with your big head and not with the little one.. after all, chances are you dated at least a few girls before you thought you found the right one. you Neto apply the same logic anywhere else especially in a foreign country.
I went back to Manila late 70's to get married to a lady I had dated and wrote letters to. We had to wait 10 days to get married. She had a great family from Panay. The night before our wedding she stopped talking to me which threw me for a loop. ( mental illness was what I was thinking) In the morning still no talking and she stayed in bed. I showed up. After that she jumped up and locked herself in the C.R. So I packed my bag and walked out and walked another hotel and never seen her again. In the mid 80'sI seen and talk to her uncle who was an N.B.I agent now. We talked and I told him what had happened. He told me that in what they call (tampo) when she acts like that. He understood and we each went our own way. Tony a great guy. This video sure brought back a lot of memories to this old man. I did how ever find I nice Christian lady and have been married 38 years. 😊 Best of luck, I had a great mother in law until she passed away.
Back in 1981 I rented a car close to the U.S. Embassy for 2 weeks. I drove about 2 miles and took it back, gave them the keys and walked out. I was happy with jeepney's and buses and tricycles after that short ride. Now back to your video.
I've been here 11 years. There's a saying that goes "believe none of what you hear & only half of what you see." So many scammers making story on top of story, involving friends or family or things that don't exist. When the story is too much, they make another story to cover it. Blame parents or nonexistent relatives or someone. It's a never ending thing, which is a part of some cultures here. Be aware of certain provinces and groups of people. Because someone says they're from Davao, doesn't mean they're from Davao. Being here, you'll begin to recognize their dialect or accent if they speak Tagalog or English. You'll know who they are and where they come from.
Such experiences are invaluable albeit stressful and full of anxiety .it makes u a more wholesome person in real life .take it easy bro ,since u r already there just enjoy ur vacation and stay there .traversing d Philippines will widen n broaden ur perspective /insights pertainh to Filpino cultures and norms ,besides interacting with d locals .Something money cant buy .u will ultimately be d most travelled foreigner in Philippines 😂👍👍.Wish u all d best n take care .Cheers❤🎉🙏🙏🙏👍👍
Hi Gio...just saw your latest vlog with Daniel James from Sarasota...first I'm sorry that he met a fake woman from Davao...and it made me mad n sad ...bcuz this woman just ruined the Dabawenas reputation.... but I want your friend to know there are plenty of honest good authentic Christian ladies in Davao.... Also I would like to message James to tell him that there are a big Filipino community in Sarasota and Tampa Florida where I have Lived for 25 yrs ... I tried to send a comment to his utube channel but somehow it cannot seem to send a comment. I'm not trying to hook up with him Im a married person but was born in Davao ....
Great interview! He has wisdom beyond his years; most guys would have probably stuck it out or at least tried, but as a Christian, he understands the value of not being 'unequally yoked'. I wish him the best in his search for love.
Good one Gio.....Daniel reminds me of the 40 Year Old Virgin, with Carvell. Sounds like hs family back home is deeply protective. Interesting for a man in late 30's (in 2019) and now 40 years old. Interesting story. Thanks
I lived in Mandaue/Cebu City for 8yrs...then the wife and i moved to the province..best move ever..not so much traffic and the wife has a whole different atittude
Thanks Jay!! You are one of the best people I met here in person and you really represent the goodness of people in this country. Thanks for your hospitality my friend. 💪
she was a scammer, unfortunately there are many out there. i experienced a similar situation although the chic actually did meet me in the airport when i arrived in Cebu she was still emotionally a million miles away.
Yes many many scams from girls here in the Philippines and I have seen most, but never like this poor guy's scam. I have lived here for 32 years and been scammed a few times but nothing crazy like this girl did to this young guy............I am still seeing crazy things here but you can find the right girl just look around here in the Philippines not so much online even the so called Christian websites there are scammers
Wow what a crazy story, I can't believe her father would stoop so low to hurt you and to get rid of you like that.I would have gone anywhere else for the night.Good luck to your guest.
Good story but I think mine is probably better.. The first time I was invited to Visit my girlfriend in Mindan now, I thought I had Approval from her family so we got on a bus then it ended up we are being Chase down by the local police and half the family.. The brother-in-law was the go-between and he made everything sound just fine he was supposed to be translating... I would say that's about as closest You might get to a Filipino prison, Just an innocent misunderstanding.. My intention was honorable and I actually married her.. Here in USA.. But it always left a bad taste in my mouth after the family chase me down with the cops..🙏🙏
I’m 1/2 Filipino and I have a lifetime of stories about some crazy and emotional Filipino people. The majority aren’t crazy, but I’ve seen some scary stuff.
I hear all these stories about bad experiences with philipina and I must be very lucky because everything worked out great for me, been here over a year with my beautiful Philipina wife, I have nothing to complain about, well maybe the dogs🤣🤣🤣
I had a Pinay GF who faked her death 3-4 times to me. Had 3 different GF who tried to make it look like they cut themselves over our impending breakup. Current GF implies she would kill herself if i broke it off.
This is not the first time it happened and will not be the last either.i remember vividly in the early 70s ,our neighbors in the province ,who were caretakers of a ranch ,whose owners were in Manila ,he (neighbor) faked his death by sending a picture of him being in a coffin,so that their landlords will send his family money for burial expenses. Landlords decided to travel to our barrio unannounced and found out the lies and betrayal of trust .fortunately ,they gave him and his family a second chance. It was a big story then ,in our barrio.i heard similar stories in Mexico as well from a friend here in Texas.
Hi sunshine iv been watching your blogs for long time I think you give excellent information and you are a wise man iv been to visit once only for a fortnight I'm going bCk in 24 for a month your information is crucial to us iv no intention of settling but I follow your guidance to the letter people should be grateful to you you look out for them in every😊 way keep blogging 1
wow, what an interesting story. that dad was the biggest red flag ever. Daniel did the right thing, leave her alone. sad this happened, and what the father did, omg. My opinion is to wait till I get there, then, possibly look for someone, possibly on the dating site, to enjoy living in the philippines. the best of luck to Daniel.
Absolutely no reason to use a dating site. Come visit and just talk to anyone you might be interested in it's that easy. Either you will hit it off or find out she's taken or not interested. It's not like back in the USA the women here are very approachable and easy to talk to.
i came at 50, dated to 60 and married a lady i met at her 20. IM 72 and happy,24 years nearly. SORRY, but girls over 22 and not in college are passed over for a reason or have a kid, no father. YOUR AGE IS IRRELEVENT. . .IF YOU CAN PROVIDE APARTMENT OR HOME...and raise afamily in ph. Take ayoung girl to states is suicidal, risking cheating or divorce. Many younger men in ph do not earn enough to make and build a family life in ph. HERE YOUare king. IN USA SHE IS QUEEN AND you are no king! Seen it dozens of times, only once the usa thing worked.
I've met a couple of dates in Cebu, both insisted I arrive first so I would be there to greet them on arrival, take them to condo, both freaked when I suggested they could arrive before me. Both came from Mindanao. The family stuff sounds like a bunch of crap, probably the trip sounded stressful, arrive to strange city, go to strange hotel, meet a foreign guy. It's alot for them to handle if they've not traveled before.
I don’t know what you guys see in the Philippines. I was there fifty years ago working for a steamship shipping company. At that time the Marcos family was in charge and there was a degree of safety and security. It sure has gone downhill since then.
YOUNG Woman who they cant get in thier home countires. But hey, I dont fault them for it as long as both parties are fine with it and everyone is treated with respect.
You guys say driving in the Phillipines is hard , I’m Australian and we drive on the left side off the road I only drove in tacloban but wow that’s a experience in foreign country driving on the wrong side off the road
Great story, I've been to the Philippines plenty of times and My retirement is only 6 weeks away, so my pre- plans to come there are about to start but the thing I wanted to text GIo is, They have so many Jollybee's here, we ordered some friend chicken in a bucket with sides as I explained to my co-workers how big JB is in the phills.
Gio tell your the guy the flipina lady was married and playing him like fiddle its amazing she did not scam every dollar out him vow have ne careful on line and he dodge a bullet there
I’m lucky. I met my Filipina girlfriend here in the USA 15 years ago. We are planning to retire in the Philippines. Many of the people that she knows in the Philippines would never consider meeting someone online as they see it as being disgraceful. She has unmarried friends there and I have unmarried friends here that would love to meet them, but most of her friends won’t consider it. If my friends want to meet them they have to go to the Philippines and take a chance.
As Daniel presents it, the girl is completely blameless in this. You don’t blame one person for the actions of another person. I would have at the very least met in person with this girl
when you realize the horror stories of what the Muslim men do to their women yea . I’m giving this girl a hall pass..her mistake might have been not being forthright With the father in telling him beforehand she was meeting a Caucasian Christian guy.
So many filipinas are controlled by their families, they want them to find a foreigner to support them. Especially the mothers, they tell their daughters who they can meet and want to meet the foreigner right away. If the daughter does not do what the family says, they will berate her and kick her out of the family. I will not date any girl who brings up her mother right away, who listens to her mother for everything she does. Many of these girls are above 25, and still listen to the family , even if they love the man.
Thank you for the advice and quick reply….. but why doesn’t the immigration department look at your passport to see if you have a stamp for that country when you finally leave the country the last time
28/40 and scammed. Proves that age doesn't matter. I recommend staying away from the dating sites. Maybe I'm lucky, but I found my asawa on Facebook by placing a simple request for what I'm looking for. Btw a Christian girl is forgiven, but not necessarily a good wife nowadays.
I think the moral of the story is…and the big take away…DO NOT START ANYTHING ONLINE! More likely than not it will not be the truth! However, I would have agreed to meet her as long as the family never knew…then again you really do need to fear for your life. So not meeting is the safest option.
With regard to a Christian man marrying a Muslim woman---- When I lived in Saudi Arabia, I knew of 3 Americans guys, that converted to Islam, so that they could marry their Indonesian girlfriend, and not have any problems with the family. They were Muslims in name only. They still drank and ate pork, and didn't pray 5 times a day, or anything else. So, only if you are a religious person, would converting be a "big deal". Of course, with the guy in the video, from what I understand, the girl wasn't a Muslim. Note: To Muslims, if someone from another religion becomes a Muslim, they consider it "reverting" rather than "converting", because they say everyone is born a Muslim. At least that is what a few Saudis told me.
The expression "entering the gates of hell " when you enter Manila will apply for some unsuspecting foreigners. My advice, don't jump into the deep end until you learn to swim. The Philippines is still undeveloped and struggling with urbanization and is still very tribal.
Good point. even tho my first girlfriend family attended a Christian church they still practiced tribal/pagan customs. sprinkle blood of a dead chicken on a motorcycle.- another time a “ medicine man” visited the village one day. it was almost surreal, like Jesus visited a village to cure the sick 😮dozens of people were sitting on a couple of long benches in line dude was chanting and rubbing this lotion of the affected body parts of the “patient’s” my girlfriend wanted me to have him look at my lower leg. it was bothering me for some reason I had been swimming in this filthy river with an open wound.- he was massaging my leg in a circular motion chanting, and making spitting noises - no saliva thank god - on my leg😐 of course he was charging people had a bucket for money 😁 even medicine man gots ta make a livin 😊😊😊

Daniel can tell a story in an interesting, organized, and coherent way, which is a talent most people don't have.

In the Philippines since 2009 and have never heard a story like this one.
He will do okay in the Philippines, very rational and cognizant.

Cheers Gio .another great video/interview .ur guest is superb👍👍👍🙏🙏
Glad you enjoyed it
Interesting story. What an adventure. Looking forward to going there next month 😊
Very interesting not how I thought it would end
Great interview Gio. Thanks for all you do for the Philippines expat community.
Great video and a good learning experience.
Back in 1981 I rented a car close to the U.S. Embassy for 2 weeks. I drove about 2 miles and took it back, gave them the keys and walked out. I was happy with jeepney's and buses and tricycles after that short ride. Now back to your video.
Great video. I am glad you found out when you did
Good interview strange story
I am sure things will work out good attitude
Thanks Gio for an awesome interview.
Hint: If she has her own car and house, doesn’t need a foreigner.
Yup, say it like it is. If she doesn't need you then move along.
Sucker energy doesn't work in the PH.
A very interesting story and well told by Daniel. Bob. New Zealand. (Cebu)
What a great story. I think you showed good judgement.
Great video 👍👍👍
Fantastic interview Gio! Im hooked! Hope you do more interviews Gio!
That's the plan!
thanks for sharing fascinating
Such experiences are invaluable albeit stressful and full of anxiety .it makes u a more wholesome person in real life .take it easy bro ,since u r already there just enjoy ur vacation and stay there .traversing d Philippines will widen n broaden ur perspective /insights pertainh to Filpino cultures and norms ,besides interacting with d locals .Something money cant buy .u will ultimately be d most travelled foreigner in Philippines 😂👍👍.Wish u all d best n take care .Cheers❤🎉🙏🙏🙏👍👍
Crazy story but that's the Phil's if parents are not on board RUN RUN RUN
She was married, and didn't have any business, house, or even a job. Good luck next time.
Yes.. exactly.. fish on
😮 I feel for this guy with what he went thru, could have been worse but he has the right attitude to move on. Great story. Smiles from Thailand 🙏.
Thanks
Just when you thought you've heard it all
Great interview.
What a nice person Daniel is….He will meet a nice girl as there’s more nice women than bad ones…
I appreciate your kind words
well done to this young man. I believe he made the right decision for himself.
Incredible story
I lived in Mandaue/Cebu City for 8yrs...then the wife and i moved to the province..best move ever..not so much traffic and the wife has a whole different atittude
What a great interview. Daniel seems like a great guy. I have a feeling it will all work out for him.
Papa didn't like the thought of his daughter with him, but damn that was insane.
Well, Daniel my friend How was your and traveling in Philippines, your friends here Jay 😁😎
Wow....what a crazy story
Too many scammers must be careful
WOW!!❤😢😮
That's quite a story, I would have been creeped out to.
Keep your wits about you over there. Anything can happen
Interesting story.
Hello from Deerfield beach. Stay safe buddy.
This is worse than all the times I had too jump out of windows ( when I was WAY younger) when dads got home early 😅
This was like a mini suspense story! I can imagine how awful the experience would have been for Daniel, but good to see him in good spirit now.
I had a Pinay GF who faked her death 3-4 times to me. Had 3 different GF who tried to make it look like they cut themselves over our impending breakup. Current GF implies she would kill herself if i broke it off.
Go Gio 🌎👋💪
He’s young and attractive and still met a scammer. It’s not just an age thing. Bad girls will steal money from anyone. Good grief
And this was before Photoshop, so he had to actually lie in a coffin.
Wow what a story......

This guy is too scared to even set foot in a third world country lol. He's scared of his own shadow.
wow, what an interesting story. that dad was the biggest red flag ever.
It's not like back in the USA the women here are very approachable and easy to talk to.
most Filipina with attitudes has been with expats before because they adapt their politics and attitudes from the west so beware of this sign.
i came at 50, dated to 60 and married a lady i met at her 20.
Before I listen I must be convinced this is the truth and nothimg but the truth. I listen...
It's alot for them to handle if they've not traveled before.
your gullible
Dont be gullible guys. If she says she has car job house etc either shes lying or doesnt need you.
I don’t know what you guys see in the Philippines. I was there fifty years ago working for a steamship shipping company. At that time the Marcos family was in charge and there was a degree of safety and security. It sure has gone downhill since then.
It's all about the women.
YOUNG Woman who they cant get in thier home countires. But hey, I dont fault them for it as long as both parties are fine with it and everyone is treated with respect.
A steamship company? What was that 1885😂
The Philippines is a shit hole
@@steverunswithscissors😂😂😂
It happened to me also and I don't know why she did this
You guys say driving in the Phillipines is hard , I’m Australian and we drive on the left side off the road I only drove in tacloban but wow that’s a experience in foreign country driving on the wrong side off the road
That's true
😂 I love there Filipino people but they are the worst drivers and no traffic system pretty much everywhere! It's 4 way chicken!
Sorry mate..I am sure the right girl is there for you..IF they start to ask for money...just run away...
Thats one wild story
Bro you are base in Cebu..lets meet up someday once I'm visit Cebu.
Luckily, the carabao was thrown from the car and survived.
dodged a bullet there Holmes
Thanks Geo for another great video. 😊
I think he left out the part about all the money he sent her….
thats screenplay material right there
I've heard it all, and this really was different!
True story, I am his mom. Thank you
Ciao :-)
Gio tell your the guy the flipina lady was married and playing him like fiddle its amazing she did not scam every dollar out him vow have ne careful on line and he dodge a bullet there
Great Story. We need more like them but the men will not come forward to tell us. We can learn from others.
Don’t blame her for her families actions…maybe she wants to escape? She could be a good girl…I would have taken the risk and met her…coffee shop…
when you realize the horror stories of what the Muslim men do to their women yea .
Does the throwaway onward ticket really work when you first enter the Philippines at the airport?
Yes, I use it personally every time I travel.
👍 🇮🇹
Il collegamento TH-cam di Daniel è incompleto nella descrizione
i also went to Jollibee too
Wow, what a story lol. He’s also a good storyteller.
but its one way, you cannot leave comments on his channel, its turned off.
Love that he ate soup with the Philippinese dude.
I think the moral of the story is…and the big take away…DO NOT START ANYTHING ONLINE! More likely than not it will not be the truth! However, I would have agreed to meet her as long as the family never knew…then again you really do need to fear for your life. So not meeting is the safest option.
There is a lot of simping going on in the Philippines 😅, dudes marrying baby mamas, dudes buying houses for her family, SIMPS
🎯
So did he ever meet a girlfriend or not??
Daniel could be Gio's little brother.
Omg, I hope he takes my under his wings as a little brother! He would be the big brother I never had! 🇮🇹💪 WOULD YOU GIO????
The expression "entering the gates of hell " when you enter Manila will apply for some unsuspecting foreigners. My advice, don't jump into the deep end until you learn to swim. The Philippines is still
undeveloped and struggling with urbanization and is still very tribal.
Good point. even tho my first girlfriend family attended a Christian church they still practiced tribal/pagan customs. sprinkle blood of a dead chicken on a motorcycle.- another time a “ medicine man” visited the village one day. it was almost surreal, like Jesus visited a village to cure the sick 😮dozens of people were sitting on a couple of long benches in line dude was chanting and rubbing this lotion of the affected body parts of the “patient’s” my girlfriend wanted me to have him look at my lower leg. it was bothering me for some reason I had been swimming in this filthy river with an open wound.- he was massaging my leg in a circular motion chanting, and making spitting noises - no saliva thank god - on my leg😐 of course he was charging people had a bucket for money 😁 even medicine man gots ta make a livin 😊😊😊
