I don't know I still see the show as a dying Cash cow because DreamWorks has moved on from the dragon series and is producing even more original content so I have to ask why do they have this franchise on life support
Also a note that you said that the pandemic screwed this show up, Shows like Arcane, Love death and robots season 2, The Owl House, and Amphibia were all produced during the pandemic and they still turned out amazing so either the nine realms didn’t try or dreamworks really cut the budget for this show.
@Empty Glass well for the owl house season 2 they made it during the pandemic as well as the final season of Amphibia and Love death and robots season 3 was made through the pandemic as well thought arcane might have been in development for longer so fair point
I’ve mentioned this before in another video… but the only thing keeping the Timberjack from flying away… is a rope. A dragon that can slice trees and breathe fire… can’t escape a rope.
My favorite dragon that we didn't get to see a dedicated episode of despite being one of the original dragons from the first movie in the Book of Dragons, gets put in this freakin show. Then it and all the other dragons get dumbed down to lower than dog level for these kids, an absolute travesty. We got to see unique traits and abilities and learn new things about so many dragons and the time I get my favorite it's too dumb to break a rope despite being able to destroy entire forests.
Biologist here, it seems I need to clear up some misconception about the "incest" of the Night-Lights (NL). Considering that Toothless was the last Night Fury (NF), and that NF can mate with Light Furies (LF), we can treat the black allele as a singular mutation. If in species in general singular mutations were doomed to disappear safe for a lot of incest, then evolution wouldn't be a thing. Consider this: Each of the 3 original NL had two different alleles of their color genes. They reproduced with LF so if they also had three cubs, that would mean that they produced 1.5 NL and 1.5 LF (codominant genes). So if each NL produce 1.5 NL, the overall population of NL grows over time, without incest. After 7 generations (I take 7 because this way we're above even the medieval definition of incest), a NL can reproduce with a NL descending from another of the 3 original NL cubs of Toothless, and there is a 0.25% that each of their descendants might be a not-inbred NF. By the time of this show, we could expect small populations of NF, and it's normal to see NL. Since we're on the subject of descendants, you may have heard that all people of European descents are the descendants of Charlemagne. Using the same statistical logic, while Tom is indeed a descendant of Hiccup, all of the others might be too. Buzzsaw is too. Tom has no more personnal connection with an ancestor so long ago than other characters. Also every NF, NL and LF of the hidden world are descendants of Toothless by the same logic.
Strange, since Toothless kids would no doubt mate with Light Furies, the chain would continue until the Night Fury lineage is erased from the bloodline.
@@endamcnabola Nope that's not how that works. The Night Fury bloodline could be erased, or replace the Light Fury bloodline, or both could survive. That's genetic drift at this point (since I doubt that natural selection would apply to those apex predators). Yes the % of genes passed from Toothless to Thunder is near 0, but the codominant black gene could survive.
I think it's just these skin color designs tbh. Animals do occasionally inbreed in the wild so I'm not shocked for some inbreeding to occur but these colorations just don't make sense. Especially since Toothless was the last full black Night Fury. I can't imagine this many generations keeping the black skin trait so prominently when most of their breeding is gonna be with Nighlights and Light Furies. Either add a splotch of white or black to a mostly black or white Nighlight or just make them all one color. These weird overdone skin color mutations/morphs just don't really make sense. I think the dual colors could've worked if they just made them more natural and toned down. The reason the elder one kinda looked ok was because it actually had a pattern and not random spotting/splotching, pale underbelly and dark top is extremely common in tons of animals. Instead they're odd paint splatter cows with no thought put into how their patterns should look. Patterning is really important for animals and it's important to do it right if you're doing it just for human aesthetics instead of nature/evolution.
@@whoahanant That's codominant genes. Having a splotch wouldn't make sense. Since DNA works in pair, you only have 2 alleles of a given gene. Which means that no dragon can be 15% black and 85% white. It's always 50% or 100%. There are 3 possibilities: a NF (BB), a LF (WW), and a NL (WB). Since there are no NF left, NL will breed with LF. Half of the next generation will be LF (WW) and half of it NL (WB). A non-detrimental codominant gene can spread within a population, so having many NL is expected. And all of those, regardless of the number of generations, would always be 50/50 in terms of colors. Given the time skip, a NL can mate with another NL without it being considered incest, and then you have 25% LF (WW), 50% NL (WB) and 25% NF (BB). There are in many animals genes that control skin colors while not controlling the patterns. Cows, cats, snakes among others. Random patterns is to be expected.
Well, maybe because they think the dark stuff would make people feel like shit and lose hope in life and feel like anything will kill you.....that's probably their dumb reason
@Empty Glass Amphibia wasn't pandering to millennial and gen z nostalgia eiþer, but it was given þe respect it deserved behind þe scenes (except for True Colors). Same wiþ Gravity Falls. Nostalgia isn't þe reason The Owl House was canned.
@emptyglass7867 honestly what I know Owl House is one of few which didn't take LGBT as representation but as part of story. But people can't get over it so every one must writing about it as representation.
I would have called the Yetiwing an Icetrapper because it traps it’s prey in ice kind of like a Death Song would do though with amber instead of ice but Frost Bull is also a pretty cool name
It's funny how little Tom being related Hiccup truly matters in the great scheme of things, even though that's supposed to be the main selling point of this show. It's not like he's destined to do anything or that it contributes to him becoming friends with Thunder. (You know, outside of telling the audience 'See, it's like the other kid and dragon you liked! Fork over $50!') He honestly could've been Daggar's decendant and the show would've been largely unchanged.
Honestly it feels like you could have cut any reference to the original film trigly and show and have almost the exact same story with how little it matters.
The elder nightlight inbred cat thingy’s skin design is literally that of a penguin. It is the exact same pattern as the Kairuku (a penguin) from a game called Ark Survival evolved, which is based on either a humboldt or African penguin if I recall correctly. Also, on top of Dreamworks releasing a $50 game on steam, you can pay $100 to get early access to NR content in Rise of Berk (HTTYD mobile game). 100. Dollars.
I tried playing that mobile game twice bc I love HTTYD and I’d say it’s somewhat broken. It’s pretty playable and I wish there was more customization options when making your character instead of Astrid, Heather, and then like 2-3 random haircuts and then very limited options. Yeah that’s how most start-outs work but I wish it was more creative and likable at least! Back to my actual point, the first time I played was pre-pandemic and I got stuck on a task I couldn’t do at the farm area. The second time I played I got stuck at a shield upgrade task (I upgraded the shield but it didn’t register as upgraded) So yeah, I’m never playing that game again. I wish a better game would come out, preferably one that isn’t expensive. 🥲
I think that's ok honestly cause at least the design looks ok. Probably because it matches an actual birds design somewhat and not a cow/dalmatian or unnatural paint splatter. There are very few animals that work well with oversaturated black and white spots and that's like 2. Dalmatians and Cows. It doesn't look good on Nightlights, the design and patterns really matter for animals and their body shapes. Cows are big bulky, kinda sluggish/chill their big fat splots just kinda match on them. Dalmatians are pretty energetic and lithe dogs and have small black spotting all over them, kinda feels cheetah-esque. These dragons don't have any design details with their spotting or paint spray patterns. Orcas and Pandas are exempt here because they're not really spotted per se. They actually have black and white designs not random spotting all over. Just like Penguins too. In fact they could've used some inspiration from these 3 animals and the Nightlights would've looked much better. White/pale underbelly and a dark top is a natural design so this one elder nighlight actually looks ok.
Honestly, the only reason why I watch TNR is too see you, Audrie and everyone else react and talk about how bad it is and just to see how low Dreamworks can sink with each season, so that's the one thing keeping this literal "SHITshow" alive (on life support, I mean). Dragons The Nine Realms: Quantity over Quality
I didn't watch the season four, so maybe I miss some context, but why is Thunder even needed to breack the ice trap? The trap is made out of icicles. Tom could literally just grab and break them. Ice isn't exactly known for its high tensile strength.
Even weirder is the fact Buzz boi has somehow made multiple ice cages? Like how do you trap all these dragons in a cage made of ice? How long does it take to make a cage of ice? They don't really have strong doors so how do you even keep them in there? Some of them don't even look like they have a door. Do you catch a dragon then slowly make a cage around it? These are probably the worst type of cages, besides wood, for holding dragons.
I completely agree that and Jun will realize her myths are going to be wrong because she see a screaming death and she'll use her shield that screaming death but it doesn't have the whispering death weakness cause it goes after the sunlight (whispering and screaming death comeback for season 6 that be cool)
I was so excited for the concept of this show of the dragons being discovered in the modern society and how it would effect them. This whole premise literally writes itself and they couldn't do that for four seasons now.
@@gasterthemaster6490 Well, they could've done the same thing with NF, so that the NL don't look like Toothless has inbred with Dart (AKA his daughter)
I think most of us can agree that episode 3 had us LIVID!!! Jun in that episode was so arrogant and obnoxious and Tom was no help at all. And the fact she puts her myths above the book of dragons is the most insulting and illogical farce this show has ever made.
Man this season made me angry especially buzz saw managing to catch and hold mother f---ing dragons with crude ropes and cages made of snow did they forget that most if not all dragons can breath fire or acid at least race to the edge had the excuse of dragon proof metal but this this just proves that the creators are creatively bankrupt.
yea, Went I first see that. just straight up stupid, not only that. His just one dude, probably not professional train Dragon hunter. Unlike the Villains In the How to train your dragon and even In the series.
Not to mention he trapped a Timberjack with a single rope. That dragon cut off the thickest tree in the Ice Realm with only one of its wings, yet can't free itself from a rope that's as thick as a finger.
Don't they know that icicles are easy af to break? You can literally pluck them from ceilings, flick of a wrist, thats all it takes. If tom even fell against them they'd break.
I honestly have not seen the show and have only seen Audrey’s reviews of it as well as the first episode of the first season so I get what the others seasons are about. However, I’m thinking about skipping to the 4th season just to see how bad it is. I might update this later when I’ve done that. Edit: Ok update, the only two things I can watch it on are Hulu and Peacock and they both have signed me out of my account and I forgot my login code. I tried searching it up on TH-cam but that didn’t help either. Edit 2: Ok finally got signed in to Hulu and I’ve watched season 4 episodes 1-4 and I was going to watch 5 and 6 but it was like 2 in the morning so I didn’t. Rating this season 1-10 1 being worst and 10 being best I’d say that so far it is probably a 4-5. Alex was the absolute best this season with Eugene right behind her. I will agree that Jun was being just stupid and kinda annoying through that one episode. Buzzsaw was just meh to me and honestly the whole season was kinda just ok in general.
He probably wouldn't have even bothered with him at all cause no way Buzz boi would've been able to catch real dragons or cause any real damage/threat. All these dragons got extremely dumbed down, if they were actually intimidating wild animals like before I think that Timberjack would've killed Buzz offscreen rather than being caught offscreen lmao.
Takes me back when he had like 4000 subscribers. Now he has almost six times as much. His videos were already good back then, but the quality of his content hugely improoved since, because he continues putting a lot of work into his stuff. He came a long way. Although I wouldn't mind him getting more well-known. He definetely deserves it.
I can only imagine Hiccup and the OG dragon riders in Valhalla staring down and thinking "Oh Odin help us..." and Astrid being restrained with what happened to Hiccup's prosthetic leg. I'm only watching this series for Alex and Feathers. Since you mentioned them, Raisor... do you have a estimated timeframe for when you plan on reviewing the original How to Train Your Dragon series? Looking forward to Audrie's video covering this season. I can only picture her reaction to that "one" scene.
I think one of the weirdest parts in this season for me is in Night Light Part Two, when they see the cave drawing. Tom takes one look, sees Hiccup and Astrid, looks at Hiccup and says 'You're the one...' but he has blonde hair. Why isn't he connecting his appearance to Astrid instead??
Man, when you make the one and only "Raisorblade" not laugh at the misery or the badness of a series/movie, you know how much they screwed it up. 😅 Also, RAISORBLADE, PLEASE, MAKE A GODAMN REVIEW COLLAB WITH AUDRIE!!!! PLEASE!!! YOU TWO WORK TOGETHER SO WELL!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 IT CAN BE ANY REVIEW!!!!
@@T_E_G you know, I'm being serious, yes, it wasn't sarcasm and that's because I like the series, and before they respond with another stupidity, let me tell you that yes, I saw the HTTYD movie trilogy and I'm 26 years old, I am not a minor as some of you haters would say to those who like the series, they take me for a clown or a weirdo for that reason like you Shayla but rather the clowns and weirdos are you for not accepting that someone like a series that you don't like, so tell me what other stupid thing do you have to say now? Usually I ignore them but really sometimes someone you have to put their ridiculous comments in their place so they learn to respect.
Can't wait for the Red Death (the original one) to comeback at this points and for Tom to befriend it cause why not right? It not like it was beyond redemption or anything
I like to believe that episode 4, shows us that Not Dagur is actually very skilled but incompetent. I like to believe that he made a ceramics oven, dug and cleaned the clay to bake his own porcelain, made his own ceramic pigments, refined the metals and made his own bucket to cook, made his own ropes, etc. I like to believe he did all of that with only his hatchet because it's so stupid. I think the mom knowing issue will be solved within the first 10 min of the first episode, or off screen, then noone will remember or care about it until the plot need the mom to feel guilty for the corporate overlords. They spent a billion+ dollars, so the corporate overlords need results, and the dragon info would be worth the billion+ dollars. They won't reveal it to the corporate overlords for some stupid reason. I liked this season for a few reasons. Alex and Eugene. We now have a 2nd good character. Uncharted Territory was actually a good episode with the only 2 good characters and the 2 dragons with the most personality (I hate Jun, remove her every pixel). And the story is finally moving, I don't know what the story is or where it's moving but it's finally moving. I hate the Dalmatian dragons, if they wanted them to be black and white, why not base the pattern in killer whales? They'd look so much better. I keep thinking that if they HAD to find an item from the OG movies/series, it should have been Toothless' prostetic tail. This could have been how they realise they are not the first ones, instead of a shitty arrow head that makes no sense and is never brought back. Also a strong emotional moment because we know Toothless is dead by now, but actually seeing evidence of it, would hit much different. Also a way of telling that the OG story is long gone. Going with what the show has done. If Jun is mythology obsessed, maybe she could have started making her own Book of Dragons, since they think they are the first ones to find them, so when they eventually leave, she can leave the book in a safe place so when someone else comes, they know they are not the first. Tom is suicidal so he could just care about the adventure and exploration, since apparently that's something he and his mom do. This gives him a reason to want a sword, he just wants one because he thinks it's cool. It's not a good reason for an episode but it's a reason. Alex can keep him level headed, although not sure about hers and the others motivation for exploring the realms. Maybe she could be more into the history of it, and D'Angelo maybe into fauna and flora since he's to become a doctor or something? Eugene joins out of boredom but grows to be the one most concerned about its protection, keeping the others (specially Tom) from destroying historical artefacts. I don't know I think they could justify the cave with all the stuff by, borrowing from that Race to the Edge episode, Hiccup having set up a small shrine/monument in that cave with copies of the Book of Dragons, his inventions, etc, that show that humans and dragon coexisted before, what happenned and why, and what he hoped would happen next time humans encountered dragons. This could set up the ending of the series because it esentially can only end in 2 ways. They leave and keep the dragons a secret until someone else arrives and make another show, or the world finds out about dragons because the world will never truly be ready for them and someone is eventually going to find them, especially with a billion+ dollar operation just above them. This could had even be a continuous conflict across seasons, stay silent and hope against odds that noone will ever find it again, or tell the world and take an active roll about its protection. The show apparently wanted to be pro environtment and stuff, so if they end with the world knowing about dragons once more, they could turn it into a lesson of having to be active about its protection, because human have an impact on it wheter we want to or not. They could actually go either way, or both, similar to the history of the Lascaux caves.
with June's myths, there is also the issue of time and language to consider. Stories can change or distort over time, but Tom as a book of dragons that was supposed to have been written during the time when it was relevant. Therefore, Tom's book is miles more reliable than her time distorted myths. And that's not even getting into the issues of things that could have been lost in translation.
This is something i want for season 5 that we all already know is never going to happen Better Animation: There’s so many animation errors in this show that it feels like they’re all on purpose Better story telling: Instead of having every scene that has anything to do with plot and not all of it feeling like filler or totally predictable, try and make the plot interesting and mysterious Better characters: Season 3 showed us how incredibly stupid every other character is in this show is, so why not have the multi million dollar search team as well as the parents uncover more of the stuff relating to the dragons and they actually try to investigate Better Dragons: every time they’ve brought an old dragon back its either been a bad choice or horribly executed, and when making new dragons, they’re all so uninteresting, (except the spiderwings), so for the love of god choose better dragons to bring back and think better through new dragon designs. If it was me, to give this show tension and proper plot , bring back the Whispering deaths and the screaming death. In Rise/Defenders of Berk, the Whispering deaths were forces to be wreckond with, and the Screaming death was nightmare fuel to the nightmare fuel the Wispering deaths provided. We know how savage and (evil) the Screaming death was, so for it to threaten to destroy all the nine realms along with an army of Whispering deaths (BECAUSE THE NIEN REALMS ARE UNDERGROUND MIND YOU) would make an incredible job, because the Whispering and Screaming death are both boulder class dragons. And then Tom and Thunder team up with all the human characters and dragons to (Kill) the Screaming death If i remember correctly the Screaming death was an overmutated Whispering death that is born once ever 1-2 hundred years. So yes. Considering the Screaming death has actual lore behind it, it fits perfectly as a final boss in a finale style episode I can go on all day listing dragons that fit much better than almost everything we got so far that would fit much better
3:51 to 3:52 The Loud House added into the shows that keep on going is sad but true because it has dipped in quality after this show’s creator got fired for rightful reasons and Nickelodeon is milking it to death It’s tragic and sad because it used to be a good show but Nickelodeon milking it is really sad Personally I think think Season 2 or Season 3 should’ve been the final season of the show since without Chris Savino (even though he deserved to be fired from Nickelodeon) it just went downhill from there
Streaming Services have been treating Animation Studios like this for awhile to cut costs unfortunately. Example: The Cuphead show got 3 "seasons" in one year!
@@venti726Very true but doesn't change the fact that Animators are being rushed to push out content to save costs. Sad only Animated Shows getting this treatment
11:05 Wait...hang on a sec did anyone else notice that in the shot where Buzzsaw captures Tom and Thunder, the Timberjack looses its rope?....Like..my dude would roast or fly away from all this crap.
Here's something that makes no sense to me. Daggur was threatening and could fight Hiccup and Toothless even without a dragon (like I've never seen Race to the Edge, and even I remember Daggur trapping Toothless. Buzz Saw is a rich guy, what's stopping him from using construction equipment or paying a group of mercenaries to study the riders and hunt their dragons?
I'm a sincere fan of How to Train Your Dragon and when I look at this new Nine Realm it breaks my heart. I hope the developer DreamWorks will make a new part for How to train your dragon and it will be great when we see the new part of that movie again.
You know what make Buzz saw a interesting character is if he was related to any like many of the past villains like related to Alvin the Conqueror or Drago and he's trying to restore honor to his family name has been corrupted and lost the time that would have made his character a lot more interesting and give him a drive in a motive of why he's doing the things he's doing
@@venti726 see that's the problem with the show every villain doesn't have a strong motive of why he's doing the things he does they're just evil because evil for Evil's sake. To be honest it's not a strong way to establish an antagonist you got to make the antagonist a character that's both understandable in both evil there needs to be a moral drive and why the individuals doing what he's doing if this is evil for evil sick then that's just Bland no one's going to care because the steaks is not that high they'll think it's boring in an alienates it's viewers
@@venti726 make the characters that you're creating convincing something that relates to the viewers something that makes or her interesting. When you design characters you're supposed to make them seem what relatable something that gives them a drive and extra push something that gives them a unique feature cuz when you make a character with no unique feature it comes Claus is boring and they just they're playing as a cardboard box and you don't want your characters to do that you want them to flushed out and you want them to be unique
I think the realm of the 1st season is Svartalvheimr (the crystals could be streched back to the ores that the dwarves use to make their weapons, including Mjöllnir); the realm in the 2nd season would be Jötunheim (because of no reason, I just can't think of any other realm and the showrunners have no idea what any realm would look like); the fire realm is, as you said, definitly muspelheimr, I mean, its obvious if you've read even 2 or 3 myths from even the prose edda; the ice realm is obiously Niflheimr; and the "king's realm" I seriously don't know, the king part could be traced to Asgard, because there lives the king of the Æsir gods Óðinn, but then the overgrown and fantasy looking mushroom trees would make me think that its Vanaheimr since its the realm of the Vánir gods that are related to nature, so its really confusing to me
Hiccup's fire sword was used to calm dragons by showing he could also wield fire, but Tom's wand does sort of the same thing by channeling lighting and he gets bitch slapped (and I know it might have hurt the elder night light but the lightning came from a baby and they didnt look hurt, but like they werent even a little impressed that this random human that wandered into their realm could wield lightning like them??)
Don Bluth related Movies, Sequels & Series that you still need to review: - An American Tail (1986) - An American Tail: Fievel Goes West (1991) - Fievel's American Tails (1992) - All Dogs go to Heaven: The Series (1996) - An American Tail: The Treasure of Manhattan Island (1998) - An All Dogs Christmas Carol (1998)
The thing I hate about this season is that Tom literally drew in the book of dragons (even tho that page was never in the book in the first place) and the best part is when alex and “Charles V” has a very nice moment together
I haven't even seen the show (and I'm neved going to), but I somehow love Alex just by watching these videos. The way you shit on everything the show has to "offer" but never forget to mention how good she is, it just makes me wish she was the main character so that way I could at least try and start watching the show
Bro, the thing that gutted me the most is trapping DRAGONS, in ICE cages, big fire lizards, in thin icicle cages... They're preverbially shooting Httyd in the head
Drago had thousands of soldiers and was a professional at trapping and dominating dragons. Buzzsaw tripped and stumbled onto dragons by complete accident
Fun Fact: Thunders entire family are actually inbred. This is because Toothless was the last Night Fury so as he mated with the Light Fury, their children had both color's black and white. And as Toothless is the last night fury, in order for the black color to survive Toothless's children has to inbreed to keep the color in the family. Also Light Furies and Night Furies are complete different types of species because Toothless is a full black fury meaning his parents were also Full Black Night Furies. Not Light Furies.
Feel like buzzsaw's name should be bonesaw with how many implications there are with him There aren't a lot but there are just enough when put in the right context, *mhm*
That episode where webmaster and feathers go missing confused me so much, like where in season 3 did they have issues with each other, that comes out of knower and why didn't Alex bring their dragons into the tree cave to avoid the blizzard, why did they just leave them out their? I'm confused also feathers somehow made web master turn invisible with her despite him not touching her, or how that would work anyway..also the 2 headed dragons being from the ice realm makes no sense when we meet, Junes dragon way before the ice realm open, and the skull of death makes no sense on what it did and how it did it from the book, but they just completely ignore it, also theirs a ice volcano with water in it that curs their kind, what? how? didn't we just learn that water doesn't help them, which makes no sense do to water and fire actually making mist, something they are....and the episode with buzzsaw broke me couse Tom is so stupid the answer to his buzzsaw whistle situation was sitting in his face, webmaster and feathers could've solved the situation in seconds like it's even brong up how web master could trap buzzsaw with ease in no time, and through out all toms fails it took them forever to finally do something when they already knew something was wrong, it's dumb, also remember how the dragons like feathers and webmaster don't like the cold well that's never brong up again, and when they first meet buzzsaw I got annoyed, with the situation, same with the last 2 episodes I got annoyed not even halfway, and toms mom finally meets thunder yeah like cool she used her brain to use your drone thing camera to catch purple lighting in you'll base, something that confused me couse Tom never had his drone thing over their cave, better yet he never brong it anywhere near the cave so where and when, also nine realms take place how long after httyd, couse I question if Tom is related to hiccup like, theirs no reason to it, if he was wouldn't by default he'll know about the dragons like they even bring up Tom might be more related to the twins then hiccup so if Tom is related to hiccup I'm more annoyed, and that means hiccup not once but many times went into the realms, mainly the night light realm, Also the thunder situation makes no sense how did thunder get so far away from home? like what coused that and does thunder know what hiccup looks like which already points to tom not being related to hiccup, Same with the 2 headed dragon that is somehow from the ice realm, how did they get far from home?. Places that needed to be opened by them did thunder and wu/wai found a different path away from home? This don't make sense, also think you June was literally making me angry when her dragon was sick, and if the book got made by hiccup and them why didn't they know the black and white 2 headed dragon knew how to help it's kind? did they not know couse why? Also I swear when did Vikings have magic hand writing couse somehow the skull just did whatever it did, or was that just to make sure know one read the book?.. clearly not sence it happens only on that one page........also why is hiccups metal leg their? Did he lose it,did the night light kids take it, did he die their and the leg was the only part of him they found, or did he give it to toothless in which the night lights just because?.... actually the toothless part would be adorable actually..wait did hiccup leave the sheild and dagger blade from the last seasons? clearly not couse hiccup don't use a dagger blade and I don't think he'll leave his sheild or any other sheild, so did his kids leave them their? I don't think so sense he never told his kids about the hidden world.....what?.. Vikings clearly went down their at some point which could be why hiccup made the human traps, but the dagger and sheild was never near the night lights heck the night lights didn't feel threatened with Tom and them rather didn't trust them, which shows no humans has reached the night lights,.
I am most likely wrong.. but wasn’t the timberjack said be pretty strong? And also way to fast for a human to ride/control? Wasn’t it supposed to stay above land because of its.. i forget but wasn’t it one that stays on land.. how was it not seen by modern tech? Actually How the hell did he get one, (considering he wants all dragons dead too) are you telling me that they once had amazing story telling and now they can’t even bother to stay consistent?
Okay, I’ve managed to keep quiet and not rage about the horribleness of this show for the past three seasons you’ve talked about, but this- this is too much. First thing: I’m a writer. I write fiction stories. I love it, and I work hard on my stories. And I guarantee that most writers will agree with me on this: having things happen by accident is LAZY WRITING. Sure, there are some exceptions - accidents are a part of life, after all - but not BIG THINGS, like the THUNDER’S ENTIRE FREAKING GOAL this WHOLE SHOW! This is a prime example of “deus ex machina”, which is when a problem is solved by something that’s suddenly introduced into the story. The plot should be advanced by the hero and their actions, otherwise what’s the point of the hero’s entire journey? Like, it’s not satisfying when a hero trains super hard for a final battle, then during the final battle, a ninja master appears out of nowhere and defeats the villain for him. You know what is satisfying? Watching all the hero’s hard work pay off as he defeats the villain! Thunder finding his family in a random spot in a random biome was like a 1/1000000 chance. It’s just not realistic! There are few times where I’ve ever felt so insulted by a plot line. Give us a REASON why Thunder’s family was there (it doesn’t have to be a complicated one)! *IT’S REALLY NOT THAT HARD!!!* Second thing: Tom was holding the sword. Silver clearly conducts electricity. So why the HELL did Tom not get electrocuted?!?! I’m not an expert on this subject, but I know lightning is a form of electricity, and lightning’s main goal is to find the fastest possible route to the ground. And running down Tom’s hands and through his internal organs would have been a hell of a lot faster than jumping through air to the elder dragon, and THEN going to the ground. Tom was wearing no protective gear. There is absolutely NO REASON why Tom didn’t get fried to a crisp. So now this show is defying the laws of physics?!?!
when I saw the title of the show for the first time I thought "wow, how mythologically accurate is this going to be to the nine realms in Norse mythology?" it was not about Norse mythology, despite literally being called "dragons: the nine realms".
I feel like the name of the 9 realms might have something to do with the 9 realms from Norse mythology like the fire realm (or biome) could be Muspelheim, the ice realm could be Helheim or just Hel and the like crystal realm could have something to do with the realm of the dwarves? Idk just something I thought of
22:37 I just checks that Httyd Family Tree video, yeah nothing special. But they fucking spelled Stoick’s name wrong twice. Once as Stoik, and Stoic. Wow great job guys
Tom feels like a disgrace to Hiccup’s bloodline, he is the protagonist that feels like more of a side character than an actual side character, a fucking Refrigerator would’ve been a better protagonist 😂
I didn’t know we were supposed to get another 10 seasons, I think I’d rather rip out my own eyes and ears before even watching the fifth season let alone 10 more
I adore HTTYD as a movie series to bits, but I also come for the NR discourse. I refuse to make it canon in my head at all and this disdain can't be good for my health but I'm here to see this dumpster fire burn for infringing on something I treasure.
This show makes me so frustrated and angry bc I'm in vocational college to become a day care attendent in a kindergarten and even our teachers told us "don't underrestimate the intelligence and the logic of children" and what does the show?.... It underrestimates the intelligence and logic of children they really think like "little dumb kids down understand what is happening"... Well duh, they do. This show is not only an insult to the HTTYD-fandom but also to every child who watches this show
I’m going to say every single dragon that has been stolen from how to train your Dragon Granchal’s catastrophic quicken, fire worm then we also have the terrible terror Timberjack and that’s it. Oh no, there’s also a monstrous nightmare
Am I the only one who finds it hilarious that he says there is nothing more to say and he's finding it hard to find things to say, but then he somehow makes it too half an hour. Not mocking him, just saying it.

3:42 You and me brother.
3:52 Star vs The Forces of Evil was a great show. It deserves a movie as well.
9:00 You said it. Tell that to Peter Jordan from Ei Nerd who might disagree with you. I agree with you Raisor bro.
The Trollhunters Netflix TV series is way more better and epic than this Dragons The Nine Realms as a whole.
Even Sonic Prime is way more better than this.
I find it symbolic that the Night Lights have colors resembling cows, because Dreamworks won't stop milking them for profit
lol true 🤣
So symbolic ☺️ they really are ruining a beloved series just for money
Yes
I don't know I still see the show as a dying Cash cow because DreamWorks has moved on from the dragon series and is producing even more original content so I have to ask why do they have this franchise on life support
The walking animation now really looks like cows😂😂😂😢😢😢😭😭😭😭
I swear this just makes me angry watching them dragging Hiccup into this, and playing with a dead mans prosthetic leg 💀
Yea
I scream when the dude throw the dam LEG
Honestly I wouldn't be shocked if they somehow made Hiccup a God or something and is now immortal just so they can milk his return
Now that's just disrespectful, isn't it, Dreamworks!
Yea
Also a note that you said that the pandemic screwed this show up, Shows like Arcane, Love death and robots season 2, The Owl House, and Amphibia were all produced during the pandemic and they still turned out amazing so either the nine realms didn’t try or dreamworks really cut the budget for this show.
I think the production show began during the pandemic, those show you mentioned have probably been made before the pandemic
@Empty Glass well for the owl house season 2 they made it during the pandemic as well as the final season of Amphibia and Love death and robots season 3 was made through the pandemic as well thought arcane might have been in development for longer so fair point
The answer:
Yes
@@crcoghill for what dreamworks cutting the budget or the people not even trying
Ok,I agree on this, but keep in mind Arcane had been in production for like 6 years
I’ve mentioned this before in another video… but the only thing keeping the Timberjack from flying away… is a rope.
Wow this really needs more likes.
Honestly I don’t get why good shows like The Owl House or what have you get cancelled… but then this gets to live?
Well, maybe because they think the dark stuff would make people feel like shit and lose hope in life and feel like anything will kill you.....that's probably their dumb reason
Seriously like no one asked for more seasons!
@emptyglass7867 owl house was woke trash. That's why it got cancelled
Now we're at Season 4! By next December we'll be at Season Ten Billion!
In a perfect world, this series would be 2D and animated by Flying Bark
truuue, maybe it would be better looking if it was in 2D.
In a perfect world it wouldn't exist
100. Dollars.
Right from wikipedia: "Kairuku is an extinct genus of penguin.''
I can relate to the so much
I didn't watch the season four, so maybe I miss some context, but why is Thunder even needed to breack the ice trap? The trap is made out of icicles. Tom could literally just grab and break them. Ice isn't exactly known for its high tensile strength.
Believe me, u didn't miss anything.
Can't Jun ever be wrong for once?! Why can't she just consider that some of her myths are wrong?
Because if they do, that would be “GiRlS aRe DuMb” or so that’s how they’d put it
I completely agree that and Jun will realize her myths are going to be wrong because she see a screaming death and she'll use her shield that screaming death but it doesn't have the whispering death weakness cause it goes after the sunlight (whispering and screaming death comeback for season 6 that be cool)
OH WOW the mom finds out about the dragons, I WONDER what's gonna happen next.... and then for the season after THAT and it keeps GOING.
They probably just forget and move on to a different plot 😂
I was so excited for the concept of this show of the dragons being discovered in the modern society and how it would effect them. This whole premise literally writes itself and they couldn't do that for four seasons now.
At this point, I’m expecting the Bewilderbeast or a species of Red Death to show up again
They better not... the Bewilderbeast was pretty much indicated to be extinct if they do I'll probably give up on Dreamworksas a whole
@@cruzmusics Yeah they Better leave the Bewilderbeast alone.

We got something worse...
I think most of us can agree that episode 3 had us LIVID!!! Jun in that episode was so arrogant and obnoxious and Tom was no help at all. And the fact she puts her myths above the book of dragons is the most insulting and illogical farce this show has ever made.
That ratio.😂
You and Audrey care way more about this franchise than that joke.👍
Bro you are being ratio
It reminds me of that newer Kung fu panda show, like it completely reverted in quality from previous shows that actually should’ve been worse
There are sites where you can watch it via pirating for free, I've done that and I still feel like I paid too much to watch it
@@greenhat8978 yeah I finally signed in to Hulu and watched some of the episodes.
Hiccup and toothless and all the original dragons characters are spinning in their Graves at this bs show
Now can we blame the directors because they really should stop before they mostly just destroy themselves making this forgettable show
Hiccup would've blasted Buzzsaw without a second thought.
I hope your content get more recognition
Also, RAISORBLADE, PLEASE, MAKE A GODAMN REVIEW COLLAB WITH AUDRIE!!!! PLEASE!!! YOU TWO WORK TOGETHER SO WELL!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 IT CAN BE ANY REVIEW!!!!
But they added a massive plot twist at the end. Im sure theyll handle it well
Reminds me of another show made by Dreamworks Animation that also served as a sort of spinoff from a franchise of movies.
At least someone thinks something positive about the series compared to many comments on this video including the youtuber

I don't know
I think they could justify the cave with all the stuff by, borrowing from that Race to the Edge episode, Hiccup having set up a small shrine/monument in that cave with copies of the Book of Dragons, his inventions, etc, that show that humans and dragon coexisted before, what happenned and why, and what he hoped would happen next time humans encountered dragons.
This is something i want for season 5 that we all already know is never going to happen
Better Animation: There’s so many animation errors in this show that it feels like they’re all on purpose
Better story telling: Instead of having every scene that has anything to do with plot and not all of it feeling like filler or totally predictable, try and make the plot interesting and mysterious
Better characters: Season 3 showed us how incredibly stupid every other character is in this show is, so why not have the multi million dollar search team as well as the parents uncover more of the stuff relating to the dragons and they actually try to investigate
Better Dragons: every time they’ve brought an old dragon back its either been a bad choice or horribly executed, and when making new dragons, they’re all so uninteresting, (except the spiderwings), so for the love of god choose better dragons to bring back and think better through new dragon designs. And then Tom and Thunder team up with all the human characters and dragons to (Kill) the Screaming death
If i remember correctly the Screaming death was an overmutated Whispering death that is born once ever 1-2 hundred years. So yes. Considering the Screaming death has actual lore behind it, it fits perfectly as a final boss in a finale style episode
I can go on all day listing dragons that fit much better than almost everything we got so far that would fit much better
Dragons: The nine dollars budget

The Loud House added into the shows that keep on going is sad but true because it has dipped in quality after this show’s creator got fired for rightful reasons and Nickelodeon is milking it to death
It’s tragic and sad because it used to be a good show but Nickelodeon milking it is really sad
Personally I think think Season 2 or Season 3 should’ve been the final season of the show since without Chris Savino (even though he deserved to be fired from Nickelodeon) it just went downhill from there

I think the realm of the 1st season is Svartalvheimr (the crystals could be streched back to the ores that the dwarves use to make their weapons, including Mjöllnir); the realm in the 2nd season would be Jötunheim (because of no reason, I just can't think of any other realm and the showrunners have no idea what any realm would look like); the fire realm is, as you said, definitly muspelheimr, I mean, its obvious if you've read even 2 or 3 myths from even the prose edda; the ice realm is obiously Niflheimr; and the "king's realm" I seriously don't know, the king part could be traced to Asgard, because there lives the king of the Æsir gods Óðinn, but then the overgrown and fantasy looking mushroom trees would make me think that its Vanaheimr since its the realm of the Vánir gods that are related to nature, so its really confusing to me
Dang you should've been on the design team lol
It seems that nine realms is scared to do something new
Hiccup's fire sword was used to calm dragons by showing he could also wield fire, but Tom's wand does sort of the same thing by channeling lighting and he gets bitch slapped
(and I know it might have hurt the elder night light but the lightning came from a baby and they didnt look hurt, but like they werent even a little impressed that this random human that wandered into their realm could wield lightning like them??)
Me hearing Eugene's voice: Sounds familiar
Me after finding out the voice actor: **random screaming and crying**
The writers literally need to just stop at this point 💀💀💀
I disagree! This show may be awful, but gosh is it entertaining in that departmeng!
Sweet honey Cheerios It looks like Christmas present early when raisorblade reviewing dragon nine realms season 4
6:15 credit to anyone who knew tha band name let alone the name of the song (Its Ghost Division by Sabaton)

The thing I hate about this season is that Tom literally drew in the book of dragons (even tho that page was never in the book in the first place) and the best part is when alex and “Charles V” has a very nice moment together
Wait, there’s FOUR seasons???
*I didn’t realize it went past ONE!*
Why would thunders family be taking refuge in the ice biome? Furies hate the cold
6:12 as a sabaton fan I absolutely cracked up at this part
I haven't even seen the show (and I'm neved going to), but I somehow love Alex just by watching these videos. The way you shit on everything the show has to "offer" but never forget to mention how good she is, it just makes me wish she was the main character so that way I could at least try and start watching the show
you showing the fucking view ratio of your video vs the nine realms trailer- oh my god i practically fell off my chair i was laughing so hard.
Bro, the thing that gutted me the most is trapping DRAGONS, in ICE cages, big fire lizards, in thin icicle cages...
They're preverbially shooting Httyd in the head
Calm down, Buzzsaw doesn't knows so much about dragons.
This season was bad but the main problem was that it was just rushed and boring and didn’t answer any dire questions or explained anything
Seeing as Drago also caught his dragon off-screen, I wouldn't shame the show for it
Drago had thousands of soldiers and was a professional at trapping and dominating dragons. Buzzsaw tripped and stumbled onto dragons by complete accident
Frost Bull sounds f*cking awesome, just like Fire Jackal.
25:40 i get it and it's funny
Fun Fact: Thunders entire family are actually inbred. This is because Toothless was the last Night Fury so as he mated with the Light Fury, their children had both color's black and white. And as Toothless is the last night fury, in order for the black color to survive Toothless's children has to inbreed to keep the color in the family.
Also Light Furies and Night Furies are complete different types of species because Toothless is a full black fury meaning his parents were also Full Black Night Furies. Not Light Furies.
If each season introduces us to a new *biome* and the series is called dragons the nine *biomes* then they will be NINE SEASONS OF STUPIDITY
Feel like buzzsaw's name should be bonesaw with how many implications there are with him
There aren't a lot but there are just enough when put in the right context, *mhm*
When he said that ATLA is almost 20 years old I honest to god just screamed
This situation is like... Harry Potter and The Cursed Child :d
I am most likely wrong.. but wasn’t the timberjack said be pretty strong? And also way to fast for a human to ride/control? Wasn’t it supposed to stay above land because of its.. i forget but wasn’t it one that stays on land.. how was it not seen by modern tech? Actually How the hell did he get one, (considering he wants all dragons dead too) are you telling me that they once had amazing story telling and now they can’t even bother to stay consistent?
welp, i mean the plot twist was interesting but can't wait how they mess up it next season
Okay, but the sea bunny... crystal... creatures...? Dragons? Whatever they are!
They're pretty cute!
27:33 Nobody gunna talk about how much that dragon looks like the deathsong?
I have a question how did shadow survive in the ice realm because nightfurys can’t live in cold areas
Yes, he did, i watched the series, but i like it.
*IT’S REALLY NOT THAT HARD!!!*
Second thing: Tom was holding the sword. So now this show is defying the laws of physics?!?!
why would the Night Lights have to fight other dragons when one of them would inherently be the Alpha
when I saw the title of the show for the first time I thought "wow, how mythologically accurate is this going to be to the nine realms in Norse mythology?"
it was not about Norse mythology, despite literally being called "dragons: the nine realms".
I feel like the name of the 9 realms might have something to do with the 9 realms from Norse mythology like the fire realm (or biome) could be Muspelheim, the ice realm could be Helheim or just Hel and the like crystal realm could have something to do with the realm of the dwarves? Idk just something I thought of
I hope there isn't gonna be 10 seasons. I'll hope the next season is the last.
I swear it better not be 9 seasons
It’s going to be a six season show and I doubt they are going to explain the name in that amount of time
🎵The golden age of not even trying🎵
Looking forward to Season 20 when Buzzsaw rides the Titanwing Bewilderbeast into Icarus and pledges to destroy the United States👍
I didn’t know we were supposed to get another 10 seasons, I think I’d rather rip out my own eyes and ears before even watching the fifth season let alone 10 more
Wait what do swords do again?
I adore HTTYD as a movie series to bits, but I also come for the NR discourse. I refuse to make it canon in my head at all and this disdain can't be good for my health but I'm here to see this dumpster fire burn for infringing on something I treasure.
3:52 Star vs The Forces of Evil was a great show. It deserves a movie as well.
The finale season kinda not, overall still the best.
seasons 1 and 2 - maybe. Seasons 3 and (mostly) 4 are absolute garbage
THERE IS A SEASON 4?! THERE'S A SEASON 2?
This show makes me so frustrated and angry bc I'm in vocational college to become a day care attendent in a kindergarten and even our teachers told us "don't underrestimate the intelligence and the logic of children"
and what does the show?.... It underrestimates the intelligence and logic of children
they really think like "little dumb kids down understand what is happening"...
Oh no, there’s also a monstrous nightmare
there is a 4th season..? i didnt even know there was a sesaon 2
How many dragons can screw in a lightbulb?
Haven’t even seen the show but love watching your review series 😆
We want more episodes, cos We want to know what happens next after Tom’s Mom found out his secret and how is she cope up with it?
A frost bull that's a good idea for the yetiwing or maybe a new dragon
RaisorBlade: If Audrie somehow finds a way to make another hour-20 minute video about this season..
Audrie: 1.38.53 take it or leave it.
So not 1:20:00 then? hmmm?
More than 1:20:00
@@RowenaNight But not 1:20:00 😏
@@raisorblade just get the joke and move on
@@RowenaNight are you saying that to yourself orr?
Buzzsaw just seams to be a badly done mix of goosetove (from race to the edge) and an attempt to replicate dagger
22:02
Toothless looks so happy 😂
Am I the only one who finds it hilarious that he says there is nothing more to say and he's finding it hard to find things to say, but then he somehow makes it too half an hour.
Not mocking him, just saying it.
