I'm from Brazil and I listened this version before listening the original brazilian song. It's a great song. Great voices. It reminds me of a good time. I miss 90s so bad! My dad used to put this album on every little trip we had at 90s. Good song. Good times.
VH-1's Sunday Brunch, A place to see Jazz and New Age videos. It didn't last long, but it made for some nice Sunday mornings. First place I saw videos by Manhattan Transfer, Enya and The Rippingtons.
I remember *"Sunday Brunch".* It was my favourite show on VH-1. It's a damn shame that it wasn't on the air. It was what made VH-1 great, the variety of music they played.
Oh yes Manhattan Transfer I love this song. I will never forget it was 1988 I was 20 yrs young honey and It was MTV where I first saw it and it was a hit. It was the best of times to be a young adult. This song and a lot of other songs from this time still warms my heart.
I'll never forget this song while I'm on this earth. I was in one of the darkest places in my life. This song was the only one that made me feel a fleeting hope until Jesus saved me! Still makes me happy!
The ache from what was and what could have been is dulled a bit when an artist brings something lovely to life, gives it breath, and animates it for our enlightenment. That song is one of those examples; I was in the middle of a horrible relationship dissolution and this song was the one thing that made me smile. Blessings to all, and may Tim Hauser rest in peace.
Indisputably way, way superior performance and talent in comparison to many, many other groups and bands of today (14.10.2020). Regards, Horatio Nelson.
Great song ! Knew of Manhattan Tranfer since the late 70s . I bought this album when Soul Food to Go was released. It was played on an easy listening pop radio station at the time . Very catchy and uplifting
back in 1994 cupids arrows missed their target until i listened to soul food to go and heard: do you believe in chance instead of do you believe in jazz. well the former encouraged me to talk up my co-worker soon her and i where dating which makes this song so much more special even though i know the true lyrics. thank you manhattan transfer you are the best.
Absolutely love this song, puts me in a good mood every time I hear it and by one of the BEST vocal groups ever. If your foot isn't tapping listening to this fantastic arrangement, your heart is not beating...just plain fabulous.
probably one of my top 5 songs ever. pure magic! I saw the manhattan transfer 4 times in concert. and they are real nice! I still have my signed t shirt from the brazil concert circa 1988
I remember back when this song was in the charts and I hated it, it annoyed the heck out of my pubescent ego. Today... I love it dearly and I'd give everything to go back to those days.
I was on an America West airplane that got stuck on the runway for 45 minutes and they played this video - and nothing else - over and over again while we were grounded.
What I like, besides the Manhattan Transfer singing this song, is the video. I love how someone made an animated version of themselves singing the song. genius. :)
One of the most innovative a capella groups of our time who created some sweet music indeed...A big round of applause to Tim Hauser, Alan Paul, Cheryl Bentene and Janis Siegel, known collectively as Manhattan Transfer...
so good that it drives me to tears.
I used to see this video on VH1 back in the 80s..those were warm wonderful days...I really miss life back then..
Still my favorite vocalists nearly 50 years after I bought their first album! This song makes me filled with joy...
I don't know if it's just me, but this song puts me in a really good mood

You can feel the brazilian musical feeling (Djavan style).
I'm from Brazil and I listened this version before listening the original brazilian song. It's a great song. Great voices. It reminds me of a good time. I miss 90s so bad! My dad used to put this album on every little trip we had at 90s. Good song. Good times.

Since I was a kid this has been one of my favorite songs. Brings back memories .
Hi I’m 2024
Still grooving! 😂
1987 wow ! Those were happy years...
One of the best and a song that deserves a lot more attention. Stunner.
Agree but the original son is 'Sina,' by the Brazilian singer & composer Djavan.
The memories this song brings back.... the soundtrack of more relaxed times...
This was what black people would call "Grown Folks Music" and that's a big compliment. And I was grooving this when I was 16(maybe 14?)
Goodbye Tim Hauser. The Manhattan Transfer won't be the same without you. I'm glad I got to see you and the rest of the group in concert three times.
VH-1's Sunday Brunch, A place to see Jazz and New Age videos. It didn't last long, but it made for some nice Sunday mornings. First place I saw videos by Manhattan Transfer, Enya and The Rippingtons.
Me too, remember it on VH-1 Sunday Brunch. Back in 1988.

This was way ahead of its time. The video and song.
We'll miss your genius arrangements, Tim. I know you know your Hip Hop never stop.
Great song! Love the Claymation Transfer.
Saw this on one of my dad’s tapes he recorded from VH1. If time machines existed I would take a trip back to the 80s. Seemed like an interesting time.

I been trying to remember this song for a long time. As a kid I really was into this song and the video.
Ein tolles Lied mit tollem Chorgesang!
Today, suddenly, I remenbered this song and I don't know why, but it made my day a little more easy and happy.
I remember when this was on MTV I wouldn't leave for work until it was over.
Love, love, love Manhattan Transfer the best vocals ever. And Soul Food To Go is still the jam.

Das Lied ist gute 35 Jahre alt. Seitdem singe oder pfeife ich es zu jeder Gelegenheit: beim Wandern, beim Radfahren oder wenn ich gerade bei mir bin
This was a BET Video LP, Video Vibrations, Video Soul classic
Indisputably way, way superior performance and talent in comparison to many, many other groups and bands of today (14.10.2020). Regards, Horatio Nelson.
I first saw this video on MTV in 1988

A Djavan song, a great sucess in Brazil, in a english version of Manhattan Transfer...
love how they shaped the lyrics to sound like the original song from Djavan
back in 1994 cupids arrows missed their target until i listened to soul food to go and heard: do you believe in chance instead of do you believe in jazz. well the former encouraged me to talk up my co-worker soon her and i where dating which makes this song so much more special even though i know the true lyrics. thank you manhattan transfer you are the best.

I love this song, and I love that because of the California Raisins and the hamburger in Better Off Dead, this is the video!
This group is so amazing with their vocal talents.. I've seen them twice in concert and they were both flawless....
❤️🎶 Sempre Fantastici ! ❤️🎶
This bring so many great memories, thank you for the upload!
What a laugh - very picturesque! Tnx
I was lucky my then girlfriend who sang introduced to me to the MT, this is one of my favorite songs!
Liked them first time Andy Williams had them on his TV show in the early 70s -- have enjoyed their music since
When i first heard this song it made me want more of them and it made me a huge MT fan. and back then i had a huge crush on Janis :)
Please, listen to the original song, Sina by Brazilian singer & composer Djavan. A masterpiece.
I was on an America West airplane that got stuck on the runway for 45 minutes and they played this video - and nothing else - over and over again while we were grounded.
Best Video in the 80´s
Fun Fact: When this album came out in the late 80's this was the only MT video to be played on MTV.
How's that?
MTV started 84?
Ahhh sorry
I got it wrong.
Yes maybe the only MT video
They didn't have "Ray's Rockhouse" on rotation in 1985?
such a creative way to arrange a song, with those figures. Great. And the combination of instrumentals and voices - just great!
i had forgotten about this one. Love it.
One of my favorite songs ... ever ...
They were the greatest!!!
great entertainment, miss that today...
What I like, besides the Manhattan Transfer singing this song, is the video. I love how someone made an animated version of themselves singing the song. genius. :)
