I completely understand what you mean by just being excited about your bookshelf, of how it's something you've wanted and obviously thought loads on in regards to sizes ect, and then investing into it. Just makes your room that more special and calming to be in, and around something you love, I get that way anytime I order my books and DVDs as I had my dad make me a unit for mine, as my room is small, and I was so impressed with what he made for me, as it fitted my needs perfectly and just makes my room that so much more special. Never let anyone make you think different on what you like and what makes your heart happy and proud xx your doing a fab job xx
Even I didn't know how many classics I owned until this video! Having them all laid out like this made me realise!!! I have a lot of reading to do before I can add any more to my collection!
"crazy lady in the attic" LOL 😁 That's quite a lovely attic room you have. Well done on organizing the books and I look forward to your bookshelf tour.
Your shelves came out lovely. You could always add another shelf under the window on the other side of the room to get the books under your bed displayed. GREAT job!
I don't think the mad woman in the attic has ever had a better looking attic. I've recently been buying new shelfs and addition to my older shelfs and have been rearranging my books in my bedroom so I know how much work this is, and like you I love to sleep in a room surrounded by my books.
The shelves look great! So clever how you've maximized the space while keeping it looking good and not cluttered. The great thing about having books in storage is when you take them out again it feels like you've got a brand new library. 😄 Such a pleasure watching this! I often find it difficult to justify keeping classics on my shelves because I know logically they'll be books I could easily find copies of if I have an impulse to read them - whereas other books might not be so easy to get a hold of. But, of course, getting beautiful editions of them (like many you have) gives a great excuse to keep them and they look so good on your shelves. Good plan leaving a little extra room if you want to get more clothbound classics.
Lucy, your new bookshelf is amazing. It would be nice if I lived in your neighborhood. I could visit you and devour all your books. I have been reading numerous classics lately. Lucy Maud Montgomery is one of my favorite authors. I have read Anne of Green Gables, The Alpine Path, The Story Girl, and Short Stories 1907-1908. This month is her birthday month. I am currently reading Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen. It is a complete gothic parody. I love all of the book recommendations in it and the love story between Catherine Morland and Henry Tinley. This was an extremely long video. However, I watched the full twenty-eight minutes of it. You have three copies of your novel, The Paper and Hearts Society. You finished the manuscript for Read With Pride in August. You are currently working on edits. I love writing, but it can be arduous. I love you
So few likes for such a good video! I appreciate being shown the inner workings of your mind in how you’re choosing to lay out your books. Congrats on your shelves, they look wonderful! I like that they have character, just like the books 💖
this is everything i have ever dreamed of. here in mexico we don’t have houses with that “house shape”, and attics are also not very common, so this looks particularly magical for my heart. it is just a dream to me. i really wish to know england some day... i have always envisioned it as some kind of book land... and when i imagine myself living there in my wildest dreams (i dream a lot, you see) i see something like this, so i guess i’m just trying to say that it is beautiful and i’m so happy you exist! :) thankyou for sharing, i hope this new space makes you really happy!
I hope you feel better soon! I'm very impressed at this big undertaking while you were feeling under the weather, but the result is absolutely beautiful, both the shelves themselves as the way you stored your book collection on them. (Storing books by genre/era/author is truly the best way to store them, I have fellow booksellers who store their books alphabetically and it means they constantly have to move all their books when they buy something new.) And thanks again for recommending the IKEA trolleys you also mentioned in a previous video, I'm about to move all my small paperbacks into one and it's going to be lovely. (Also, I have that book dress from Joanie Clothing, it's my favourite!)
You did an excellent job! It looks professionally decorated. Big pat on the back for you. I gasped when I saw all of the Eva Ibbotson, I loved her as a child. I sent a screenshot of the shelves and sent it to my husband and told him this room is a dream.
I love Eva Ibbotson so much! Have you read her adult novels? They're my favourite -- I read them all this year and re-read them so often because I can't say goodbye to the characters and their wonderful stories. She really was the best!
Love the shelves. I live in a bonus room in our house, the only upstairs space, so I understand the awkward ceiling shape. I want to get another shelf, but it might have to be a shorter one.
In love with your bookcase!!! 💜💜 I plan on having built in bookcases in our living room as I’ve over grown my bookcase I had for my 40th birthday from my parents. So I can not wait. But we have to do other bits in our home first before I can do the living room. Feel better soon xx
I just wanted to say you are honestly such a lovely person 💕 your shelf’s look so good I really want to start reading classics I’m 28 and have never read a classic which is quite shocking but I’ve always been so intimidated by them and don’t feel smart enough but after watching some of your videos on classics for beginners I’m going to give it a go! Keep up the great work 💕
Don't be intimidated. Some you'll love and others you'll hate, but it's really down to personal preference. Classics are books that are and will continue to be popular regardless of time. :) And you don't need to be 'smart'. Some are harder than others, but that again I still put down to personal preference!
Lucy it looks wonderful! I see that you're now living in your library :-D Your books look lovely and everything is so coordinated. I enjoyed your vlog! Thanks for sharing with us. You're the madwoman in the attic library :-)
Hi! First of all, the Thomas Hardy shelf is pretty amazing, to say the least. I have to say that I always end up with a huge headache when I have to organize my bookshelves, however you've managed it really well. To conclude, I want to congratulate you because it doesn't matter if you have two, ten or hundreds of books becuase having them organize is a key factor for a reader; and I would say that it's almost more important than adding more books to your collection.
Omg I loved this vlog!! The shelves are so gorgeous! Now I really want to get new shelves as well - every single free space in my room is full of books, I have them everywhere, and I'd love to organise something like this as well 😍
Finally a bookshelf organisation which is based more on content than just looks. No funny rainbows, turned the other way around or some other way of arranging books, which factors in the look of the book way more than content. It was so satisfying to watch this! It looks fabulous and orderly, but not too matchy matchy. It looks like you live in a library, and honestly, isn't that the dream!
I've tried everything over the years (except books turned the other way, because I definitely think that's a step too far for me!) but the most important thing I've learned is that it's far nicer to have a working, functional book collection that may not look as aesthetically pleasing, but is less hassle. This way, I know where everything is and can access it easily. I don't think I'd try any of the other methods now!
@@lucythereader It really makes sense to me. I organise my books according to genres and then authors. I have expensive books next to €1 books because the theme is right. I,of course, want it to look pretty, but knowing where the books are, makes it so much easier when deciding what to read. Your shelves and room in general look amazing! Also, I must say, you are very mature considering how young you are! Looking forward to the next video!
Ok let me just say it out loud this the most beautiful and cozy room i have ever saw(btw m supes jelous) and the books omg you inspired me to read much more classics🌟 thoes book on the bottom self "LOVE"! Love this video its my new fav thing💞
Oooooh they look so so great! You've really inspired me to read some more (I've been in a slump recently, but now I'm in the mood to pick up a book!) :D
This looks amazing! So many great books, I love your taste, this collection is just fantastic! :D Very happy for you! :D Well done! Can't wait for the bookshelf tour!
I’m also the crazy woman living in the attic in my house and I feel your pain when it comes to bookcases😂 luckily my ceiling is quite high and my mum has put up shelves for me👌🏼 none of my bookcases or shelves match but I kind of love it😂
The one thing that I´m looking for when I´m organizing my bookshelf is to put my less favorite near the window and my favorites far from the window so the pages wont turn yellow and the spine won´t bleach
@@lucythereader U r just fine. In humans, the short gene is dominant and the tall gene is recessive. U have the dominant one; I got the recessive. I chalk it up to something like getting the recessive gene for eg. red hair or green eyes. Everyone is subject to receiving what they got in the genetics lottery. This looks stunning, custom-made bookshelves are the way forward! So glad to see you living your best bookish life
Living my best bookish life will always be my motto! x
I enjoyed this book shelf journey. I can imagine how happy you are seeing all of your babies at a glance.
Your shelves came out lovely. You could always add another shelf under the window on the other side of the room to get the books under your bed displayed. GREAT job!
I love how passionate you are about the Bronte 💜 very nice shelf!

It turned out so beautiful :D I have now gotten a new dream of how I want my future library to look like thanks to you :)
I thought I was the only one with books stored in boxes under my bed! Love the final arrangement.❤️
Love how they look all above the bed like that.
What a beautiful library, with beautiful shelves, beautiful books that I want to read all ! Enjoy ;)

Ever since you said you were going to post this I’ve been waiting and finally it’s outttt!!!
Lucy, they look absolutely incredible!! what a dream 😍😍
Great new organization ! You gave me such a good idea for my numerous bookmarks. I never thought of putting them in a mug, it works so well !
How cool to have your grandma’s Thomas Hardy books 💜
I keep my bookmarks in a custom mug as well :) it all looks so good! I love having books in my bedroom..it’s so comforting 🥰

No, I wasn’t aware she had adult novels! Now I’ll have to find them. 😊
This was treat to watch. I'm so happy for you!
Someone please recommend other booktubers like her who talk about classics and not just YA

a song of achielles is probably the best book i read this year, very much recommend!!
This looks genuinely gorgeous. How many books do you own?
That makes my heart flutter too 💓💓. So happy for you. It looks amazing !!
This looks just gorgeous! I can't wait for the bookshelf tour!
Your shelves are GORGEOUS!!!!

It looks GORGEOUS!!! 😍
It is so beautiful. I would love to see it in person and talk to you about your books. Congrats! :)

1837 old book!! amazing. 🖒
Exciting times, reordering bookshelves.

I have so much university work to do but now I just want to go crazy organising my books!
I should probably be sleeping but I‘m so excited for the video. I‘ve been waiting since you said you would do that video💖
I'm in awe! Absolutlely amazing! Is there a video on the antique books?
Oooooh they look so so great! You've really inspired me to read some more (I've been in a slump recently, but now I'm in the mood to pick up a book!) :D
Because of course you live in the attic haha :) Please tell me your house is at least 100 years old. It's such a lovely space. Well done!
This looks gorgeous, Lucy ❤️
I loved this! It made me reorganize two of my shelves hah!
This looks amazing! So many great books, I love your taste, this collection is just fantastic! :D Very happy for you! :D Well done! Can't wait for the bookshelf tour!
Really enjoy this vlog !!❤️
Gorgeous shelves 😍😍
It's so beautiful!!
Gorgeus bookcases
I’m also the crazy woman living in the attic in my house and I feel your pain when it comes to bookcases😂 luckily my ceiling is quite high and my mum has put up shelves for me👌🏼 none of my bookcases or shelves match but I kind of love it😂
Beautiful! Beware of light damage, though. Most book covers discolour like crazy when they get too much light. :)
Your room is literally a dream 😍😍😍 Where's the background music from? I can't remember and it's killing me 😥
I think it's from harry potter but I am not sure either
I think it's from "Hobbit"
The one thing that I´m looking for when I´m organizing my bookshelf is to put my less favorite near the window and my favorites far from the window so the pages wont turn yellow and the spine won´t bleach
Nice bright space!
I'm very lucky!
stunning!! lovely video :)
the look amazing, congratulations
Here from Twitter 😍
I love the new shelves and the dress, where did you get it?
I love the shelfs. It looks so neat!
May I ask from which part of England you are from?
I have shelf envy! Do you mind saying how much these shelves cost?
I did a similarly thing beside the chimney and it was quite costly.
Lo v e your shelves and cozy room
Thank you so much, Patricia!
Wow
Keep at it
It’s beautiful, but I have phobia of things over my head
I want to be living in attic with books.

ahaha, is it just me or does Lucy smile at the camera in every single thumbnail? Like isn’t that a bit... disturbing? lol
Starry_Birdie she has the same expression in every thumbnail omg now that you mention it, it’s creepy lol 👀
