What did you have to do to retrieve your records ? I done everything in the video and it's working correctly when connected to laptop , but I'm unsure how to get my data that's stored
Thank you Gary! I have been using my NEAT scanner for years. I had to replace the hard drive on my PC last week and just as I had feared, I could no longer use the program. You did an excellent job of presenting all of the steps. My program worked perfectly immediately when it came on. Everything was there! Thank you for your help to me and to others who had been customers of NEAT.

I have the small portable scanner NM-1000 that I used to carry in my briefcase but had not used in years because of the annoying MUST buy a subscription that was not required when I purchased the unit. It is wrong that they did that. The replacement files worked really good and now I am using my scanner once more with no issues. Thanks again Gary.

Did Mine a little differently. I had already plugged in my scanner, prior to adding the patch. Used it on a Windows 11 computer, with the 10 patch and it worked. Thanks so much. To Date: 10/2023, I think you are still the only video indicating this. Thanks for making it.
Can't thank you enough, have records that are over thirteen years old and was not able to install on a new laptop for travel. I paid the blackmail fee to Neat and after backing up my files to Neat, some of my recent files would not show the content even though they were showing as downloaded and saved. your directions were simple to follow. Again thank you so much.

Thanks for sharing. I too have been using my 2 neat scanners since day one and I'm running mac 10.6.0 and no problems. I'll be posting a video this week to show my 2021 receipts to show folks that they can save their receipts on their computer.

Thanks so much!!! I had my DVD for software but it was an older version. I had all my documents saved in version 5.7 and couldn't open them. I used your help and now I have all my documents (hundreds) back on my new laptop! This made my day!
Also, don't know why, but I didn't have to do the patch. Maybe because I had the older version Neat software? Not sure, but everything is working fine with the 5.7 version now.

Hi Ben, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but I did everything exactly as the video but I'm still getting the "Unable to open Neat Database" message which prompts me to the NEAT help support website. I copied all three zip patch files to the program EXEC file and is not working.
I was in the process of installing a clean copy of my Win10 after having serious error issues. Reinstalling my Apps and I have had my Neat Scanner since 2014, good work horse. Appreciate the comments paying for a subscription but cannot see it from my perspective. Great step by step instructions especially for the Patch. Excellent instructions and illustrations pointing out the finite details. Again, Thank you...Ernest

Based. I just bought a ND1000 from Goodwill for $6. It's never even been plugged in, and this tutorial got it up and running.

Thank you for the video, bought this system when it came out, and for them to take away a program you payed extra for since scanners aren't that expensive, and then force legacy users to subscribe and pay even more money for a program they were using seemed pretty low. Love the organization and don't need it in a cloud when hard drives have terabytes of space.
This worked great, but now my scanner is not connected. I have tried to reconnect with the drivers but it isn't working. Any Help?

Hi Crypto, I followed your instructions to the T but when I try to open the software it gives me the "Unable to open Neat Database" error and it prompts me to Neat tech support website. Any suggestions? Do I have to have the scanner connected or disconnected at the install.

Neat just sent an email claiming they're going to "disable" the legacy software on 10/31/2024. Is whatever this patch overwrites the only thing that would enable them to actually do so, or is the software querying their servers periodically even if you're only using it for offline storage?

Thanks for the video, the process half worked. Have two Neat desktop scanners on two separate computers. On one I was able to get it to work, on the other, it will not work. Not sure if this is the difference, but the one it does work on came from the factory with Windows 10, system updates took it up to Windows 11. The one it will not install on shipped native with Windows 11 installed.
Gary tried running neat after the installation, and Windows reports program stopped running. Then neat says it can not find Data base and closes..Ugh..help!

I have been using the original NeatDesk for many years and although a little crashy, has done the job I wanted and quite well. However, about a month ago, when I try to print a document from the program, all it prints out is blank pages. Thinking driver issues, I have tried with 2 different printers, and I have the program on two different computers and tried both of them and to no avail. I have found a workaround in that I can export the image or pdf out of NeatDesk and then I can print that page with no problem as long as I print from the exported program. Not sure if others have seen this issue. I am at my wits end and with no support, I reach out to anyone that might have suggestions or have seen this and cured the problem.
Thank you so much. When I had to reinstall Windows, I thought the neat program was going to be a problem. But it turned out it was a much bigger problem because those b@sturds at Neat took down the software that my installer linked to. But thanks to people like you and the people that you linked, the day was saved. I have 15 years of receipts that I wanted to have access to. Now I do!!!!!!!
hi Gary, I purchased a used one, not knowing hat the software had been discontinued. I followed the details in your video but none of the downloads work. The 5.7.1 download comes up with a -10661 error and can't download. Also when you go to the patch, you can't download it. Is there any other way to get round this? Thanks
i keep getting a popup that says unable to locate database and wont take any folders do you know how to get around this?

I have Neat 5.7. My database got corrupted somehow. I reinstalled everything in accordance with this video. However, when Neat launches, it is asking me to find my old database (instead of creating a entirely new one). Someone help me please. I'm beyond frustrated. Thank you.

well sorry i don't know if u still around but i need some help. some years ago i do=id this but i cant remember and now i have located on different places around the computers, now i have last time i use it back on September and i have to reinstall the pc, i put the software again but all my files on the cabinet are gone, can u pls tell me how to reinstall the old cabinet the i know is one of what i have here, i need to know witch folder on the software itself, i remember was 3 files to replace and turn on the SoftAware and all was there , but i did it 5 years ago, i cant remember the steps, if u know pls advise, thanks

original version (5.7.1) loads and then disappears this started happening after i believe a windows update help please
Thank you it worked. But then the scanner wasn’t working so I opened up and bent the little piece that is on the wheel to accept the paper and then it fed in. Thanks to another video.
I also had an issue with paper feeding in so I bought a product called RE - GRIP, comes in a little bottle with a small brush attached to the lid. When I have a problem I just open the scanner up and remove the roller and basically clean the roller and that works wonderful for quite a while.

Hi - I hope you get this message. I followed your instructions exactly. I am running Win 10 Pro. I have a Scansnap ix500. I went into the scansnap manager and added the Neat program as an option. When I scan, the image does not show up in Neat. Any suggestions? Thank you!
I accidentally deleted the Neat DB from my computer. Now, even after a reinstall it keeps asking the I find the old DB. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks

This a very good set of instructions and very helpful to many. I have been using this ND 1000 since I believe 2012, with very few issues. I actually used your instructions for my Widows 10 computer and it worked great but I have followed your instructions twice and I still get the pop up trying to get me to subscribe on my new computer with Windows 11. I am wondering if I need a 64 Bit version for this. Any thoughts?

I don't think so. I know they did have their software available for Mac but I don't know if anyone has modified it to get around the subscription gate. You could install parallels desktop.
@@CryptoG86 Another question, I got the software to work on a dell laptop thanks to your work, but are you having issues with the software not auto recognizing dates and other info to carryover into the software? it seems that the majority of pages I scan, such as a PNL report, are coming in as "receipts" per the software and I have to go back in to each page, switch to "document" and enter in a title, date, and other info for the page...This was the entire reason for trying to get this system was to avoid all of that. thanks for the help.
@@chrisandpriscillatorres9830 I have no clue there sorry. I have done some scanning with mine but not really dived into the organization aspect much yet. Can you maybe change a setting to tell it that you are scanning documents and then only scan documents for one session then switch it to receipts and only scan receipts?

I just migrated over to my new laptop and I used your video to install the software and then patch. Now I launch neat, it starts up and then just closes. I thought all was going well with the world....Now I really don't know what to do...Any Ideas?
just figured it out. Neat will only run in airplane mode...

I have the same identital issue, and its strickly correlated with windows 11, when i install on a windows 10 machine "physical machine ort virtual" the app works no problem. i wish someone would create a solution t this problem, but i dont see anyone tackiling this issue anytime soon unfortunately

Even after the patch my Neat software just shuts down without any prompt.
I tried to follow your instructions and found the link to the patch gave me an error (it's broken).

You say "NeatDesk scanner". Would this also work with the portable NeatReceipts NM-1000 or NR-030108? The Install CD of one for sale says version 5.1 SP-4 Thanks

Thanks! Followed your instructions and installed the program. However, I am on Windows 11 and I can scan one time then the scanner loses contact with the software. I can go into Device Manager and update the driver after the initial install. It works one time, then I have to start all over from scratch again. Install, scan one time, loses contact with scanner. Scanner and drivers just seem to disappear after the first scan. Any ideas on what to try now?

Neat is active but there is no database found (probably gone somewhere). I have .nbk but can't find a way to restore this backup to a usable database. Can you help?

Hello Gary I have version 4 SP3c(4.6.8_2) and still open and also I have my backup on this version but I like to have this version 5.7 . How to back up my files to work on this version . What I need to do first . Because I remember went you have back up in some version not work on the new version . Thank you for you help
I'm sorry, I don't know. I would assume you can open an older backup using newer version but I could be wrong. I have never tried.
