    I remember thinking as a teenager, maybe 50 years ago, that it was the prayers of the monks and nuns that held the world and everything together under God. May God continually bless them all as they pray for us. Grace and Peace to all of you. Thank you.

      What a nice comment. The heart of the Holy Mountain is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is present everywhere, always. Invite the Spirit to lead you to the Savior, Jesus Christ, who unites us with the Father. These three are one. The Father speaks His Word by His Breath. His message of love is life.

    This video captivated me from the very beginning....the Greek / American translator was spot on, very well done Sir ! St. Paisios captured my heart 25 years ago and I must say he's one of my favorite Saints. I was blessed to be given a cross with the Saint's relics embedded in wax and placed within the cross. This video was extremely touching for me. God bless !

    A young man who used to attend my Bible studies for many years is now a priest on Mount Athos. I miss him so much. He was such a godly boy. We used to discuss the Bible for long hours. We never discussed anything else apart from God and his kingdom.

    I've been studying Eastern Orthodoxy for over ten years and I'm fascinated by Mount Athos! I have dozens of books about the Holy Mountain and the spiritual elders from there. I've been Roman Catholic my entire life but am determined to visit Athos. This spiritual travelogue is fantastic, it touched my iron heart.
    God bless you, from Detroit.

      May God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, grant you all things needful unto salvation.
      Please remember your place in the Church that The Lord anointed and gathered is still worshipping and empowered for our life, especially in these times when martyrdom will be in every city around the world.
      Ask for anointing for help next time you attend church, or if you can't get there, ask them to come to you.
      The Orthodox Church continues to feed and clothe us in Holy garments as we use the armour of God to struggle and fight against the deception and wickedness of these days, Christ's Saints as our allies and who are not complete without us, neither we, them. Hebrews 11.
      Orthodox Christian Faith unchanged and active in Christ by The Holy Spirit since 33AD.
      Peace be with you xxx

I did go to church with my parents since I was 6 years old, but it was on mount athos, where with 22 years , I realized for the first time what orthodoxy really is. I stayed just 3 days but it changed my life, it changed something in my heart. I thank God that I could experience it and that you guys could too. Thank you for sharing your journy in such a beatiful movie. I am also glad that you visited St. Paisios, a saint very dear to me. Romanian and Russian Orthodox communities can be very nice to visit as well, but they are often smaller and very ethnically driven, which can be a greater shock for a visitor.

      You should visit Esphigmenou monastery (near Vatopedi & Hilandar) & meet archimandrite Methodios, a holy man. He is there since 1970. Trust me.

    Jesus Christ is Lord. Sometimes when the wind is blowing I can smell the fresh air of Mt. Athos. Do you remember the air there? In another lifetime, I was there as a man worshipping Christ. Now in this lifetime as a woman, I am living faraway from there however it is often on my mind as my spiritual earthly home. I am a painter and Jesus is my focus. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. It is good that women are not allowed there as too much drama may occur. You have created a beautiful homage to an amazing spiritual center of the world where Jesus is deeply honored.

    I'm actually curious I know female only monestaries exist but what's the most popular one where only women can go?

    • @annunciationlancaster
      @annunciationlancaster  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      After a little research I found one in Greece which I will not name, but it is not in communion with the Eastern Orthodox Church. It is a schismatic old calendarist community. Practically speaking it is impossible to do this unless the monastery never allows a priest or any sacraments to take place. A priest must come to serve the sacraments. Many women's monasteries are conscious of the needs of their female pilgrims and will take special caution to only bless overnight male visitors whom they know well and trust, and many parts of women's monasteries are completely off limits to male visitors out of respect and protection of the nuns.

    I don’t think a person is supposed to attend more than one Divine Liturgy daily. It is prohibited for a priest to serve more than one Liturgy a day. As laymen, we are also partaking and participating in the Divine Liturgy, it is not some show that goes on without us. And we can only receive holy communion once a day. So truly attending a second Liturgy means we are either going against the canons or we are just watching, onlookers as it is being served,which seems spiritually not beneficial. The Divine Liturgy the the Life of Christ that we partake in. How can we partake of the full cycle of the Life of Christ multiple times a day that makes no sense.

    • @IsaacLampart
      @IsaacLampart 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That's correct. The monks don't participate in more than one liturgy a day, nor do they commune more than once a day. It's common for larger monasteries to split up their priests and celebrate liturgies at the same time in the morning at different chapels around the monasteries for a more intimate prayer and for the closeness to the particular saints of the chapels. The monks and visitors are free to go to the chapel they wish, and the typicharist of the monastery assigns usually a chanter or three among the brotherhood for each chapel. That way every priest and deacon of the monastery grows closer in his walk with Christ as he serves the divine liturgy every single day as head celebrant.

    What is the relationship like between the Holy Mountain Monks and the present Patriarch of Constantinople?

    • @Ἀβραάμ1914
      @Ἀβραάμ1914 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Only 1 monastery is in "war" with Patriarch since 1972! Esphigmenou monastery. They suffer a lot until today. For them, Patriarch is not orthodox, is a traitor of Orthodoxy. Many people agree with them.
