This is one of the reasons why I'm a King main. He's not just a badass wrestler with a jaguar mask, but he's a guy who cares about children and their futures along with the needs of others to start his charity campaigns.
Now that makes me remember. Steve technically an Orphan (his biological mother doesn’t want anything to do with him, his surrogate mother Emma Kliesen maybe dead). So who knows maybe King got gut feeling, that he didn’t had proper childhood.

@@sosjoj5516 eh it’s up interpretation. Tekken 6 and 7 lean for idea that she doesn’t want to be mother. While Tekken 4 seem to lean into she kinda cares about him

This a homage to Ali vs Inoki, the boxing vs pro-wrestling event which became a significant part of MMA history.

If I remember correctly, King's alley kicks are actually based off Inoki's grounded low kicks to Ali in that match.
Yeah, bit of a reference to Rocky Balboa vs Thunderlips (played by Hulk Hogan) in Rocky III as well. In both fights (Steve vs King and Rocky vs Thunderlips) the wrestler goes a little bit too hard on the boxer lol.
Wrestler vs Boxer matches have been going on for decades, not just Inoki vs Ali or Rocky vs ThunderLips, and there's literally nothing 'MMA' about it.@@Leadblast

Technically King is already inspired by a real life Luchador. His design is inspired by the manga Tiger Mask, but his story is a nod to Sergio Gutiérrez Benítez, a Mexican priest who became a wrestler to support his orphanage.
It’s because in Japanese wrestling industry there already a king. Tiger mask an inspiration for King himself.
Tekken 7 already collabed with njpw... The game had bullet club tshirts and costumes of okada and tanahashi for king and lars which changed their rage arts... And even okada dressed up as king in a live event

In Tekken 7, it was King vs a Jack 07. Granted Marduk and Armor King were DLC while King was day 01
Neither marduk or AK have beef with King anymore, those two had a "retirement match" in t7's episodes so Im guessing whoever won gets to be in t8

I honestly could see them being rivals too. If not for Jin. But hey maybe there still chance they could go after that spark.
We’ll Steve’s last match before his ending is against Hwoarang but in this case king wanted another match with Steve because he knew they’d make a lot of money together for the charity he supports.
