Wilbon only saying this so he can prop up MJ when the Lakers lose. Bron should not have to carry a team at his age. It’s honestly ridiculous to even expect him to. He has nothing left to prove the media because he proved it to them all along by exceeding his expectations out of high school

Why not step aside and allow the team to focus on building a championship-contending roster? If he's not capable of winning a championship at his age, it's time for him to retire and avoid accumulating meaningless statistics.

These are the same analysts who every year say "this is his chance to add to his case" before saying, "the comparison is over" when he loses (only to once again revive the GOAT conversation the next season). It's obvious they just want to keep the debate going. But the truth is, most people who think LeBron is the GOAT have him there because of longevity and most people who don't think he's the GOAT also don't think there's anything he can do to get there at this point.
Btw, Jordan's Wizards team was awful whereas this Lakers team is stacked even without LeBron. If Wizards Jordan got to play alongside a top 5 player like AD and the rest of the talented Lakers roster, he would definitely have been expected to at least make playoffs, which LeBron has barely been able to do the past few seasons (missed it in 2022) and only because of the play in (which didn't exist in Jordan's time). Wizards Jordan, before he hurt his knee, was actually still a very good player and a better defender than LeBron has been in years.

      1. how many expansions teams did MJs Bulls face in the playoffs? One or two. Can you name the players on those expansion teams? Tim Hardaway, Alonzo Mourning, Shaquille O’Neal and Anfernee Hardaway. 3/4 are HOFers so your dilution argument is weak as MJ faced MIA and ORL in the East in the playoffs. Poor teams dont make the playoffs.
      2. How are players more skilled today? Define skilled?
      3. The NBA played has only employed a best of 7 conference finals since 2003 (the year MJ retired and the year Lebron was drafted). The 4 round knockout playoff formar has existed since 1984 (the year MJ was drafted). The only difference was the early rounds were best of 5 instead of best of seven. So comparing the Bulls era to the Celtics is another weak argument.

This shows me that LeBron is the face of the league, the fact that 20 years later, they still talking about the brown, one Michael Jordan was in his twentieth year, they was talking about the Kobe Bryant and other players that was coming along. Michael was not even the same play at this age, the fact that you telling him he got to go out there and win to be considered a goat in your book is like you telling somebody this is my criteria for me to give you your respect, no matter what you do in your career as long as you do as I say I will make you a goat if you go win another two championships I will see you as a go I think it's such a bad thing that the NBA is doing with Mike wilbon covering his Stephen A Smith Chuck because you telling these players that their careers don't matter to nothing unless they could surpass Michael Jordan that's unfair to any player to tell them you have to live up on surpassed to Michael Jordan, they even say that to Anthony Edwards, ant man got to be young Michael Jordan England get a chance of meat himself, for y'all to say he got to play like my be join his like, if you don't play like Michael Jordan, they wont respect you, and I think it's kind of unfair that you keep having a 65 year old men who still live for nostalgia smh

Michael Wilbon's take is ABSURD. Lebron James and Anthony Davis were healthy all season and outperformed expectations, both in the regular season and in the play-in and playoffs. The rest of the roster was poorly constructed, injured much of the season, and performed inconsistently when it counted most. Blame them, or blame the front office for bad personnel decisions, or blame the basketball gods. But blaming James and Davis shows you didn't watch any Lakers games this season.

    2017-18 lakers. 35-47
2018-19 lakers were 20-14 when LeBron James got injured on Christmas day.
As you can see When LeBron James joins a team, the team improves more than Michael Jordan and when LeBron James leaves a team, the team always goes into the tank.
Michael Jordan, excluding the 94-97 seasons, when the NBA moved the three point line to 22 feet, was a career 28% three point shooter. LeBron James is a career 34% three point shooter
Michael Jordan was a great defensive player, in an Era where you could handcheck. Playing defense is much easier when you can handcheck. For nearly 6'9 250 LeBron James' entire career he wasn't afforded the opportunity to handcheck.
THE EVIDENCE IS CLEAR..LEBRON JAMES IS THE GOAT!!!!!
    I have added a Postscript
So many have replied, that LeBron james didn't make the playoffs his first two years and Jordan did. What they fail to say is, in 1985, 16 of 23 teams made the playoffs. In 2004, 16 of 29 teams made the playoffs. It was MUCH EASIER to make the playoffs in 1985, as opposed to 2004. Perfect example is, the 1985 86 bulls went 30-52 and made the playoffs and the 2004 05 cavaliers went 42-40 and did not make the playoffs. Also, I don't know, possibly, maybe, Jordan had a HUGE ADVANTAGE considering he played three years of college basketball and LeBron James was 19 years old, and straight out of high school

Team Jordan will ignore all facts. They firmly believe Michael Jordan only played 6 seasons in the NBA.

They don’t even hide their bias anymore, the media would be happy if the nuggets decided not to show up

Lebron is 40 and the media is asking him to be the GOAT or else! Does anyone else see something odd about that LOL. It just shows you how amazing he is that people are asking a 40 year old man to be the GOAT in an NBA playoff matchup against the defending champs.
