Agreed. If you have to play Denver, it's best to play them early. In the earlier rounds there is more (like 3-4 days at times) rest between games. Lebron and AD will have to play 40+ mins to stand a chance so better to do that with more rest in between games than just a day or two.

Can you imagine Darvin Ham (or any professional sports coach) calling a meeting and saying "Well guys, the plan is to lose tomorrow's game, because if we win we'll have to play the Nuggets, and we lose that automatically. We can't beat them, I know it, you know it, everybody knows it. So our only chance is to hide and hope someone else beats them. I know we're risking not even getting into the playoffs if we lose tonight on purpose, but it doesn't matter because our season is already over if we have to face the Nuggets, because again, we know deep in our hearts we are categorically incapable of beating them. They own us, that's incontrovertible fact and it will never change. In fact, what we do or don't do in any of our playoff games doesn't really matter, since our only hope is for someone else to beat the Nuggets so we don't have to face them (reminder, we lose that matchup without question), we should be worrying more about those series. Essentially, our role is to be Pelicans cheerleaders after we lose to them on purpose. I know this sounds kind of crazy, but believe me, you'll be thanking me when we're hoisting the O'Brien trophy, knowing we got there by hiding from the Nuggets. We'll be the #2 team in the world and no one will ever be able to say we're not."
This is such a stupid take that I can't believe they're being serious and not just trolling for clicks with this BS. And I am not a Lakers fan and root against them vs. any team in the league. This take is just ridiculous.

Yes the nuggets have the advantage and should be favored but all those games were close well into the 4th quarter till the Lakers got out executed down the stretch in crunch time. The nuggets are still the favorites to win it all but they aren’t the 2017 warriors. I’d give the the lakers about a 25-30% chance of a series upset

They've gotta be doing this just to get people to watch. No, if you are the Lakers you CANNOT purposefully lose to the Pelicans to avoid the Nuggets. You haven't won against the Kings all season and the Warriors have played you neck-to-neck. It's such an idiotic take.
Will they probably win vs the Nuggets? No, probably not but you gotta take that chance. If you want to get to the finals, you very likely would have had to go through Denver no matter what. It's better to have a fresh Lebron/AD to go against them than them both being worn down after two play-ins and 2 full playoff series.

No nba teams would lose a play-in game intentionally. It's not a success for Lakers unless they go to the finals. Denver is the team that Lakers have to beat in any playoff series to go to the Finals.

The Lakers are 0-4 against the Kings due to Fox's speed, and the Lakers lack of perimeter defence.
The Lakers are 1-3 against Golden State, albeit without AD in a game or two.
The Lakers are 0-9 against Denver in their last 5 regular season and 4 playoff games.
But the difference is that Denver is the Defending and Reigning NBA Champs. Only Cowards would want to avoid them.
If you are about winning and leaving no doubt, you WANT the best in your path.
If anything, if you lose, you can still say you lost to the Absolute Best.
That is how true Champions approach the Playoffs.
Contrary to Public Opinion, if the Lakers ARE Healthy, I still think they can give everything Denver can handle, just based on the fact that their games against the Nuggets are close, and the losses came about from "Brain Farts" in those games against Denver.
You can't be a Champ, and try to "duck" the Team that IS the Champion/King on the Throne.
You are a Coward, otherwise, and no one will respect you.
(Like Golden State going out and getting Durant in 2017 and 2018)
