It amazes me how incredible the finished product looks based on this. Everything looks so raw and unrefined behind the scenes/in real life. Movie magic!
I love that Paul Thomas Anderson uses old Kodak film stock. Man does the color pop in this movie!! Digital just can’t replace that richness in color film gives.
I agree. These artists do incredible work. It's amazing how much detail goes into making a film. From the director, actors, and to ALL of the staff you deserve every $ that you make. This is very hard work. CONGRATS!
Add that difficulty to them doing this when the pandemic 😷 rules were so strict on set. I’m sure it was a nightmare and ultimate bliss in the end making this film. Only a couple of directors could do this (with the two leading parts going to first time actors). It really is amazing how he/they pulled this off.
I'm so glad I'm alive while Anderson is making films. For my taste, he's the greatest filmmaker of my generation. This is such a beautiful movie and seeing the BTS footage is fantastic.
Yes for sure! And Cooper Hoffman is going to be in Saturday Night which starts next Friday! Yay! Paul Thomas Anderson and Alana Haim are working on a new movie.
Best American life period movie since American Graffiti. Except the acting is better with these two unkowwn stars. I cant stop watching it over and over again. Cant even explain that.
I would say that "Dazed and Confused" is the true successor to "American Graffiti", just in the sense that it's also an ensemble piece, etc. But "Licorice Pizza" is wonderful, too in its evocation of a specific time and place. In that sense, all three just nail the decade the story is set in.
Just looked it up and this movie lost like 7-10 million dollars. Thats really sad, people dont appreciate the good stuff like they should, until its too late.
The Best Picture of '21, CODA, cost 10 million and made only 2.2 M. I don't know the extent to which these B.O. results (for both) are due to lockdowns, prob a lot, but still, yeah, I agree. The avg moviegoer in this country is... clueless.
Hello! Does anyone know the name of the first song? I saw that others are curious too in the comments. I know this song appears in the scene where Alana dances at night at Bernie's Waterbed and sees Gary and that other girl...(if you know you know, i dont wanna spoil it). I love this piece but can't seem to find it on the Soundtrack, if anyone knows please tell me! Thanks! Love this movie❤❤❤
I find it rather infuriating how illogical it is; as well as the fact that kids were kept out of school for over a year and families prevented from properly saying goodbye to loved ones, but Hollywood got to keep Hollywooding-- just with masks...some of the time.
I really wanted to like this film because I love Haim, but it's probably PTA's worst film to date IMO. Alana Haim is great but Cooper Hoffman just wasn't right for the role of Gary.
This movie is an absolute gem! Cooper Hoffman was perfect…not too good looking but not ugly either. He was REAL. I grew up in the 1970’s and this movie totally embodied the time perfectly.
The very strong slobbering over this movie caused inflated ratings and reviews but didn't make it a profit because in the end, pretty much no one cared. I thought it was boring and thin, written to make everyone fall in love with the characters who were in turn, boring reruns of what we've seen since the 80s coming of age teen flicks. Not even the forced placement of Penn, Cooper, and Waits could save it. And not even ripping off the catchy name of a popular Southern California record chain could save it. PTA may have thought he made a 21st century Fast Times clone, but this was plodding and tedious.
Plot and archetypes wise, yeah, I tend to agree. But the movie has that visual flow and rhythm, nevermind the performances, that makes it feel anxious and honest and raw. American Graffitti to me is more forced than this. The romantic aspects are authentic despite being sort of shallow compared to other PTA romances. It's no Punch Drunk Love or Phantom Thread, but maybe it didn't need to be. Personally I'll always look forward to any PTA movie, he always gets the mood and rhythm of his characters and plots just right. (Honestly I never bothered to watch Fast Times).
This is heavenly. Love seeing PTA’s kids “at work with dad” too.
It’s like he got to make the word’s most expensive home movie.
pretty sure hes sleeping with the young actress. weirdo anderson.
Dude Paul Thomas Anderson has been friends with Haim for YEARS and have directed a lot of their music videos.
It amazes me how incredible the finished product looks based on this. Everything looks so raw and unrefined behind the scenes/in real life. Movie magic!

That’s lenses + lighting + traditional film for you
this is a beautiful movie. by the end i was crying.

It’s awesome seeing the preproduction side of things especially during Covid. Thanks for showing this to us.
Really nice to see Anderson working with Hoffmans son. Such a great guy

I watch this movie everyday….
Cannot help it!
And I have a life.
Omg you sound like me

Easily one of my favorite directors of all times. What a snapshot of life this movie was. You can tell the actors we’re having a blast.
This is the best movie that I have seen in a long, long time.
We need more movies like this 60s and 70s Los Angeles 😍
That was actually a really good behind the scenes. Like its own documentary.
Fantastic collection of photos/footage. Thanks.
Just watched it. Beautiful. I love his vision.
Makes me want to see it. I'm impressed that you chose real people. Makes for a supernatural experience on many levels.
This is such an amazing, enjoyable (and 100% required) byproduct of film-making. Love This!
Incredible to see the master at work. Awesome stuff
This is gold! Long live movies
SO HAPPY I FOUND THIS OMGGGG!!!
Amazing thanks so much for sharing this, long may these videos keep coming with future films!
por dios, muchísimas gracias. for heaven's sake, thank you so much.

Alana Haim is a member of the huge band "Haim", and Cooper Hoffman is the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman's son.
Dazed and confused is more enjoyable and rewatchable.

such a great movie
What an amazing movie!!! Wooow!!!
Absolutely loved this movie! It’s great to see how this lovely movie made 🫶

Keep in mind that it came out in the middle of COVID and not a ton of people were going to theaters again yet.

Licorice Pizza, modern classic.
lol they shot a Fat Bernie's commercial with John Michael Higgins?
Love this❤
Wow all this shot on PTA’s phone
Beautiful
still trying to figure out where you can listen to 'make up your mind' by daddy dookie and the fun house, beautiful piece
If you ever find out where please let me know!
RIP Adam
What s the piano song at 3:00 plz?
really sweet
There is more of the wall of Sandsackes scene in the behind the scenes than in the movie.
Beautiful movie but...
it is illegal and wrong to upload here without copyright. Even if it is for a good reason, it is still wrong
Does anyone know the background music of this video?
Cocktail Lullaby (swing)-5 Alarm Music by Source In Sync AND "Licorice Pizza" by Jonny Greenwood
Anyone know the first guitar lick-y song? My shazam is spinning in circles.
movie magic
What’s the name of the first song?
July Tree by Nina Simone
PTA genius
Can someone tell me what the first songs name is?
It’s a daddy dookey and the funhouse original
@@jameskelley1835I can't find it...what's title?
I wonder how long Danielle will look like she is 21? I swear sometimes she looks like the youngest, I would never guess she is 33.
I wonder whose tesla that is lol
a movie with lots of nice shots, but basically without a plotline.
Adam Somner as Gary>
All actors are atheists, Dad.
niice
The entire masks on - masks off thing makes zero sense.

How idiotic was those times in nineteen. How idiotic where we to obey.
All the masks…..hilarious at the time, absolutely side splitting in retrospect
Faak 🤣😵

respectfully disagree...i think he was great...very fresh and a kid of that age at the same time...
horrible take
This movie is an absolute gem! Cooper Hoffman was perfect…not too good looking but not ugly either. He was REAL. I grew up in the 1970’s and this movie totally embodied the time perfectly.
Alan Haim was a HUGE part of why the movie didn't work.
