Honestly Jack pushing through the pain to sing a tribute is far more meaningful than any comedy act they had planned
You said it
And yet it seems the usual Conan absurdist comedy was missing when they didn't have Black hobble backstage mid-song, then run the pre-taped ambulance bit anyway (without his foot brace), then he hobbles back on stage to finish the song. Even after telling us all what happened.
True!
What an absolute champ!
Ok. That’s what you honestly think. What do you dishonestly think?
When Jack hobbled to Conan and hugged him at the end it looked like Frodo walking towards Gandalf at the end of Return of the King 😭
OMG hahaha my husband said the same thing "he looks like a hobbit looking at Conan" hahahaha it was cute!!

Jack getting injured doing the bit is genuinely the most Conan ending possible.

Jack Black has a beautiful voice. His song paying tribute to Conan was very touching.
I had a stupid grin throughout this clip. The warmth of their friendship was radiating. And just loved the song. He did it the Conan way.

Honestly this worked out way better. It just felt so much more personal. This is so freaking awesome. Seeing Jack Black just get up and rock it out for Conan one last time even though he’s in some pain was pure class. The man is pure entertainment.

He was anyway lol. It made it all better.
Yeah, just watching the video he did the other day (th-cam.com/video/fcI1AUxJ4sQ/w-d-xo.html) about having such high expectations of himself and being Conan's last-ever guest. He looked really bummed out about it, and probably messed his ankle up more by giving it all his gusto.

He succeeded.
He just seems honest in everything he does
Jack Black is one of the best vocalist out there. He doesn't get a lot of credit because he's known as an Actor/Comedian first, but his voice truly ROCKS!
Agreed.
yeah part of it is cuz it sounds a little bit comedic as well, but he has awesome range, a good tone, and never seems to hit a sharp or flat sounding note. also just a lot of power to his voice
He's just a great person and his fearless, self-depricating style mixes perfectly with his passion and talent. Jack Black is a gem.

Holy fck ur right!!!!
Conan’s genuine fear for Jack’s ankle and Jack’s complete disregard for pain is great to watch
I have never seen Jack Black live at any event BUT he’s evidently known for being amazing with fans. When he performs, it’s been said by numerous people, he will greet and sign an autograph for every single person who attends his shows, even if it means sticking around an extra 2 hours after his gig. That’s true appreciation and dedication.
Pretty much true, I seen Tenacious D live, after the gig there was a small fenced off area between the venue back doors and the tour bus. Jack stopped to sign stuff on the way to the bus. You can tell he appreciates and cares for everyone that attends his gigs. Kyle is the same, though that night he darted right for the bus because it was raining haha
The love and respect Conan’s guests and friends have for him is so genuine.
Not gonna lie, when Jack started singing, I kinda teared up a bit.

Well, the statement certainly takes away a lot of the hard-won credit for his achievements.
To think of everything Conan went through, from everyone doubting him in the beginning to what happened with NBC, Conan somehow managed to be one of the best late night hosts ever. @Tennessee E They've always made fun of Presidents. From Johnny Carson, The Smuthers Brothers, etc. That's part of Late Night to talk about current affairs, headlines, and politicians.
This one just gave them more ammunition than any previous President in late night television. He was a walking gaff and joke. Not even a partisan thing, just that he was awful as a person and very easy to make fun. His being a bully made him deserve the treatment and the way he constantly responded to SNL and late night hosts was not only embarrassing, it just fueled them. That's how comedians work. Gosh. Jack Black is raw throbbing emotion, whether he's singing or nostalgic. Love this guy. One of the weird side effects of growing up a millennial is watching your entertainment favs grow up with you. It's crazy but amazing.
conan's career can definitely be described as doing it "cones way" he always held his respect and sensibilities first, he kept the tonight show in the slot it was meant to be in, at the sacrifice of hosting it, he respected the game, and it seems everyone else respected him for it
When Jack sings, he has red hair like Howdy Doody, That had so much conviction in it, I had tears!! Love ya Conan!! Gonna miss this!
I Googled Howdy Doody to find out what he meant.
Yeap ... like Howdy Doody is correct.
In case anybody wanted a transcription of the lyrics:
Conan, you are my friend, you are the best, and so is Andy
You rock, you make us laugh, you are so sweet like cotton candy
I wrote this song today. That's why the lyrics are so shittay,
but more, much more than this, he did it Cone's way
He climbed the highest peak, and then he dove into the ocean
He crawled a million miles to give us joy with extra lotion
He's tall, he's really pale, he has red hair like Howdy Doody,
but more, much more than this, he did it Cone's way
For what is man? What has he got? If not himself, then diddly squat--
To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels
The record shows, he took the blows, he did it Cone's way
Have a great day, everybody :)
