How to update Godox Firmware for Flashes/Transmitters

In this short video I show you the procedure for updating Godox flashes and transmitters. Just remember to use the correct installer, currently they have G1/G2/G3 (for some reason) for the device you want to update.

Godox have also released an update tool for Apple/Mac users
Unfortunately it's still a manual affair (ie you download the file you need), but it does work and is pretty safe/simple to use.

All good tips however I had issues using Godox updater(s) and in my case it wasn't the cable, firewall or anything computer related preventing the update(s). After contacting Godox and trying their suggestions I finally figured out It was the actual Godox install package that was the issue. It was corrupt on their site and didn't have the correct "files" to recognize the product(s). Instead I used the Adorama Flashpoint series updater and it worked perfectly for my V860iin and Xpro transmitter. In case you aren't aware: Adorama brand flashes are just Godox rebranded and all of their accessories and updates are compatible with each other. Hopefully those who got the corrupt software can use this tip.

No you run it from the computer and it updates the flash from there

On some only I think a few Sony ones, but not the older ones (A7II). A7III, A7RIV etc and I assume the newer ones
I'm not sure about the APS-C ones. Far as I know it doesn't work on Canon or Nikon MILC models
I know that tt350c is compatible with 250d canon camera, is the x1tc transmitter too?
Yes it will work no problems always check firmware if you ever have any issues (more so for new cameras out)
Hello I try to update XProC. As far I understand I need G3 (since I'm on Mac). But When I connect and click update it doesn't recognize my device. (tryed different wires). If you can help me...
I don't know what OS you are using it says Catalina on the site. If it doesn't see the flash then there is a problem

They have them for different products, so some use the G1/2/3 etc. They have at least listed it out so you can see which is needed, but it would make a lot more sense to have one that just did everything. At least they do provide updates, even if it's not exactly ideal how they do it
Thanks for this, I still can't find an update for the V1 NIKON. My firmware is 1.1 and there may be some issues with my D850.I only just bought this brand new! Any help much appreciated.
The V1 is there you just punch in the search box and the firmware is there:

My Expro-C was not detectable by G2 software, until I insert back the batteries.
I've not seen that on any units USB provides the power change the cable
random question, recently bought the same rechargeable eneloop batteries for my xpro-s and they show no charge bar on my xpro even though they are fully charged. Never really used them, because of this reason and now I saw that you use them. Do they work in your transmitter and if yes for how long? Maybe i've got some bad ones.
The battery level reads low often, due to Ni-MH being lower voltage than Alkaline, they work OK though. It might be they are not fully charging, or it's possible you have a lower voltage cell. How long varies a lot, but I've left them in there for weeks between use, and they last a fair while in use.

how do i fix an e3 error on a vc1
Do you mean the V1 the round head flash?
The G3 software when extracted as .exe from .rar does not start (Windows for a X2TS)
I don't have that unit, but I've not had a problem starting the software, check admin rights on it for windows
My computer doesnt recognise my v860ii and I have tried different computers neber seems to work. Any advice?
Have you tried a different cable? That might be the problem

ATG/Godox disabled the TCM, Hz & compatibility with ATG/Bolt/Godox/Flashpoint/Jinbei/Profoto/Interfit.
Is there any more information on this on sites etc?
Please HELP! I have tried updating firmware for my Godox XPRO II (Olympus/Panasonic) from version 1.2 to 1.4 but the updater keeps reporting "Please connect Device" This error message comes up on both MAC & PC and using both flashpoint and Good updater. I am Using G3 installer and I've tried 3 USB C cables. Thanks
I can't remote troubleshot devices. If you have tried a different system and cables, and it's still not working, the only logical assumption is that the unit is faulty somehow. I would get in touch with the retailer you bought it from
can't update. Safari can’t open the file “Godox_AD600_AD600B_V2.6.rar” because no available application can open it.
On Mac you need to extract it, something like Unarchiver

In Windows 10 it suggests Cool Viewer...really? why is this process to bloody complicated? This is for the Nikon D780 btw and the installer doesn't show up:(
Sounds like adware there is no cool viewer on the download page. Run adware cleaner or spybot

Tried doing a firmware update on an X Pro C.
The software simply crashed while transmitting data to the receiver, and now the receiver won't turn on (I tried using fresh 1.5V batteries included). The screen is off. Before attempting to upgrade, I removed the batteries as recommended by the manufacturer.

I managed to re-flash one unit, I'm not sure what to do perhaps leave it for a bit see if it discharges fully and try it in a day or so

Me: double checking I have the right installer - TT350c - G2.... Drained any residue power... 5 different USB cables, 4 different USB ports - "Device Connected"" never shows anything. Me again. Staring at junk I can't use. Oh well, lessons learned.
I Can't really remote trouble shoot the problems, if it sees the device connected I would suggest trying to disable the AV software (it is possible it might block the software from working) I would also suggest a full AV scan first
Then run the G2 as administrator (right click you will see the option in the menu)

@@MrBazReviews I appreciate the response. Device Manager see's the device as an STM DFU device, but the software doesn't. Further digging results in possible issues with the Godox USB driver not being signed so Windows ain't having none of it. So, solution is... Change settings in your BIOS, boot your machine so it doesn't require drivers to be digitally signed. For a flash ? Nope. I'm returning it in the morning to Amazon. Thanks for the response though.
@@arupian666 Does the software open? When installing I had to just "install anyway" as it's not passed the MS certification, doesn't matter because it's not rogue software but you have the smart screen filter come up, shouldn't require BIOS tweaking etc.

ATG/Godox also disabled Bluetooth on X1T (amateur) & XPro (really? But better than Profoto)
ATG/Godox system all have ATG Auto2 removed to cut cost & saving for everyone.
Anyone can buy in bulk & have their own name (s) on it.
So many buyers are buying into this to get better profit returns over OEM like Canon, Sony & Profoto.
So under $100.00 for a good transmitter is not bad.
It's only bad when buyers are greedy or CEO and CFO wants more money that prices get to the public goes up
The Xpro and X1T (I have both) never had bluetooth to start with the newer Xpro X2T do I believe, but I can't say I really find it a must have in any way (for me)
They're all decent enough when you price things up, I don't know anyone who buys OEM Canon/Sony/Nikon anymore, that market is mostly gone, people got fed up with the obvious over pricing of these units (big time they cost little to manufacture serious price gouging going on there). OEM flash is a thing of the past, sure they still sell them for the few who actually buy them. Godox can improve in some areas, no question about it. Still for the cost if you bust or lose a flash or transmitter, costs little to replace.
Price up a 600EX II-RT or SB-5000/HVL-F60RM, and you've can load up with Godox stuff for a fraction of the cost, hence the reason they are so popular

Then ATG stepped into the playing fields and got flagged for telling the truth.
ATG's Facts & Specs:
ATG 2.4GHz TTL is way better than wireless IR ITTL (Nikon) & wireless ETTL II (Canon).
ATG 2.4GHz TTL has almost bury Quantum Instrument (used to be/by ATG) & Pocket Wizard.
ATG 2.4GHz TTL transmitters have ATG AF Assist Beam while Profoto doesn't ($500.00).
ATG says that the Nikon SB-5000 is NOT ITTL a transceiver.
ATG systems have firmware port while C/N/O/M/P flashes do not.
ATG disabled the Bluetooth on X1T and XPro.
ATG Bluetooth is on X2T.
ATG Gold versions have true Hotshoe's top passthru with ATG TCM on X3T
We use the Bluetooth features a lot by viewing thru a computer. The experienced photographer control the flash wirelessly for shooting field photographers (one that is shooting).
Many photographers don't really know how to benefit themselves when not using the Bluetooth.
Our has ranges up to 100 meters. So we can fire of up to 65 cameras.
And the staff and I can fire those cameras (ATG 2.4GHz wireless Shutter Release) to 300 meters!
ATG has informed that the basic (that everyone buy, X2T) is basically a transceiver.
Very few photographers knew this nice features.
