All my boys were all over it but I resisted. I thought “My name is” was corny as hell. I finally listened to the whole album one night by myself with headphones and I was like “Damn, this dude is insane but also he might be a genius”. I was hooked from there on.
This is one of the most creative songs of a decade. This was the change we needed in rap at the time. He didn't try to be like the rest of the rappers.
This was the first album of his I heard, it’s amazing in my opinion. Crazy, but the the storytelling is the most entertaining thing in the world. And I think that just labeling it some “shock value shit” minimizing how truly special this album is. The song "Kim" is kind of a prequel to this song. Fun fact (not 100% sure if this happend with this song): Marshall lied to Kim and told her he is taking Hailie to buy ice cream but he actually took her to a studio to record this.
