My husband said it’s really good on a freeway. Done 2 1/2 hour straight ride on a hi way with 100-110 km and he never got sore back even he got hip problem. He finds it comfortable too. Also with the stand, when you got use to it it’s good, and it doesn’t dig into the grass you can stand it up on soft ground. And me as passenger, I loved it! We even use it to work riding 120km distance back and forth 3-4x a week! Always proud riding it
Regarding the ignition location: The headlight brackets are completely symmetrical; so you can just swap the brackets to get the ignition on the right side of the headlight. Super easy 5 minute project.
I have a 2013 Thruxton with 30,000 miles on it. Drives very well at highway speeds (70 ish) and there’s a flat on the tank to add rubberized knee pads to keep you seated tight. I achieved a top speed of 130 mph (at just under 7,000 rpm’s) with the bike ABSOLUTELY STRAIGHT AND STSBLE. With fairings and ground effects it should be capable of 140 mph. When I replaced the original 130 Metzlers rear tire with a 150, and the front 100 with a 110 (no issues whatsoever). Have done several aftermarket upgrades but left the engine internals stock. Turns heads everywhere I go. Fantastic motorcycle 👍🏻
@@nigel900 Need fair bit of engine work to push top speed from 110mph to 130 mph .I have the 1200s but ridden the 900 its nice bike bit underwhelming power wise and not exactly quick ! 1200 ain't a sports bike but its mountains above the 900 power wise . The 1200 only just pushes over 130 apparently and you have lighter bike 60% more torque and 96 hp . I know the 900s more authentic with it been air cooled and 1200's bit fake being water cooled but personally I think the water cooled bikes look pretty good. Glad you enjoy your 900 its got ample power if were being sensible , I did nearly get one but my 1200s came along for a good price

" Not saying 130 isn't possible but requires fair bit of engine work As said I don't dislike the 900 but they certainly ain't any power house , look nice and sound nice. Been researching the 900 yes some have squeezed 120mph with few mods one guy got 130 mph with some serious mods , not disclaiming 130 just seems bit high, also 7000rpm is low for standard gearing
thanks for the video. I have a 2010 and love it owned it for six years so far and added over 10,000kms. It's a great bike for twisties, around town and everywhere I'm interested in riding. I'm running Conti Road Attack 3 tires and they transformed the bike. I get compliments everywhere I go. Highly recommended dudes.
I had the aero 2 into one... but when I wrecked it I had to put my stock pipes back on... but the previous owner somehow modified the end of each stock pipe to make them sound fat and awesome... which I prefer way more than the aero pipe surprisingly. Mine is a 2008.
I've watched this video many times because I couldn't decide on a 900 Thruxton or spending money I didn't have on a T120. So, I went out to look at T120's and after a test ride just because it was there ended up buying a 2014 Thruxton 😂. I love it, yes it's not fast, the mirrors are not great but it's the most fun ever and it looks so cool, sounds amazing and funnily enough I have no trouble finding the side stand.
I had nearly the same bike and replaced her w a Newchurch; Bonnie SE. The Thruxton was the most uncomfortable bike I have ever owned. As for the suspension; maybe even the worse I have owned out of the box! The good point; insanely easy to fix and modify. I just made mine better; a lot better. I do actually like these slow but properly set up you can haul on back roads. Good luck.
thanks for that good review, I can agree. I have a 2013 Thruxton (green), I'm 6'1" and when I first sat on it I was blown away. It's not as solidly made as my BMW, but it's incomparably beautiful. The sound is incomparable, when I ride it here in the Black Forest - days of thunder 😂. It's my beautiful British.
There are several slip-ons you can buy to get the sound u want for a few hundred bucks. I love the shorties, and u can get a set for around 200. But yours sounds fine. I like the shorties for looks and access to rear tire convenience. I have a 2005 t100. But it's decked out very much like the speed twin, but I do have the seat cowl so it has a Thruxton look,cept for the handlebars. Also it's got carbs. As for wind buffeting. I put a triumph fly screen on it. That tends to force the lower wind up over your head. It came with a triumph big clear windshield, but I pulled that for the fly screen. But, still have it if I wanna take a long trip. I've always had naked bikes, so I'm used to wind. I don't ride horses, so my legs grab the tank fine. Plus the T100 comes with tank pads. Grippy. U can get some even for your Thruxton. Plus they look really cool. It's weird about the Thruxton. Some have the on off seat cowl and some have the built-in cowl. Non removable. I do like the style though. But you're right about the kick stand. Took me forever to get the hang of it. And I've had Yamahas, Hondas, Suzuki and Kawasaki. None had this weirdness with the stand. And no center stand? On a street bike? Insane. That's triumph. They make u buy everything. Can you say, greed. Almost makes u thinking, Sportster. Thanks for your review.
Have a 2011 you hit the down sides spot on. However the fun factor makes up for negatives. Added tail tidy HAGEN Nitro shocks progressive fork springs and brit custom slip ons nice music. It's a happy day tripper can be riden hard without compromise. 😊
Good review, thanks. I've tested one some month ago. I don't have appreciate originals suspensions in fast cornering. But ok under 100km/h in straight line( depend of the road). Good modern bike, no stupid moderns options on it.
I own 2009 thruxton 900 and defenitely it needs to change exhaust system. SAI system and cone air filters. Without that it has donkey launch. After pointed out changes fun begins. Greetings to other owners from Poland
Yes i have the last of the 015 in very close to new condition love riding it arms get sore but have other triumphs to ride as well . Its fast at the speed limits here go over and it costs you big time im to old to be a power ranger or a wantbe harley rider in shorts owell im a rocker long live triumphs...
Great video …I have a 2015 Thruxton and I agree with what you said about it being difficult to hold on to with your legs on the freeway. I picked up some tank pads that I’m hoping will help with this.
the ebay exhaust inlet is about 5mm too large for the triumph headers, so you will have to use some sort of spacer. The Ebay pipes are a universal fit, which means they don't really fit anything. but for about $90 for a set, they are pretty decent quality. they are very loud and have almost no baffling. the stock exhaust for this bike are extremely quiet and restrictive, so i do recommend some type of exhaust

When putting on the individual filters, they didn't try very hard to find a perfect fit and used rubber from the old air box to form a crappy adaptation. I searched and found a set from fram that fit perfectly and look super good. Hard maybe, but possible.
Had one for 5 years and sold it. 5 gears and 70hp isn't fun in long run! So many times I tried gearing to 6th then e gine reved to much. Thruxton is nice but it need to be the r or rs model with 97 or 103hp and 6 gears to make it fun in long run
Went out to see a 2014 Thruxie with just 5000kms... I love the look of the bike but people keep on telling me that it's too slow, uncomfortable and losing value rapidly these days... My second option is to buy a new Bonneville, but that's twice the price of the Thrux ...
Comfort is relative. All bikes are uncomfortable. I dont believe these are depreciating any more rapidly than others. They are a pretty decent value. You will lose a lot less of your investment on a used bike than new

Exhaust - Mistral in Italy makes legal pipes for this model! But you have to modifie the tubes 15 degree!! And they are really the cheapest I could find.

I can vouch for the latest British Custom slip on exhaust, no trouble fitting it at all.

There are plenty of aftermarket Mufflers for this bike and the 1200r and RS. Including Vance and Hines.
For the water cooled models. Aftermarket parts for the older air cooled bikes are getting hard to find

19 countershaft sprocket, ditch the air pump, and get a set of predator pipes. Much better ride after.
