Yeah, its called Goodell and the refs. As a Vikings fan, was pretty clear once the score became a blow out, the refs were told to not call penalites on the Pats; 90+ offensive plays, not one penalty after the score got out of hand...90+ plays and not one hold or false start, but the Falcons hit a huge 3rd down to kick a field goal to go up 10 in the waning moments, holding on the offense. The NFL does not rig games for certain teams to win, but it sure rigs the game to keep viewers watching.
Whether he goes into the hall of fame or not he wont be forgotten for reason of the catch and being such an integral part of the most dramatic superbowl comeback victory i will ever witness
By virtue of being Tom's go to guy for years, he's got a legacy as a part of Brady's legacy. When people talk about the Seahawks, and Falcons super bowls Jules HAS to be a big part of those conversations. If Brady is never forgotten, and he most certainly won't, Jules can't be either.
He transitioned from a college QB to a great slot receiver in the NFL. Got a few rings and made some big clutch plays when it mattered. Thank you Jules for all you’ve done ! Btw good take on him Pat !
Julian should be considered in the HOF. He played on a team where he had to sacrifice stats cause of the system but always performed great when his name was called. Also how many players in the HOF have been named Super bowl MVP? It’s not his fault he played in a system that changed every week during the regular season. Some games they ran the ball, others TEs were involved. The only constant in the new England’s system is mainly the QB position.
You can’t tell the story of Super Bowl 51 and 53 without talking about Edelman’s great catches/MVP. Made the biggest plays when it mattered on the biggest stages. If Megatron can get in with no rings or big game appearances then the guy with 3 rings and 2nd in all time playoff receiving should be first ballot

Yes you can tell the story of the NFL without him easily. He's a product of the great system that New England had and he benefitted greatly by having the greatest QB to play the game throwing him the ball in his clutch situations
Maybe he gets in someday, but there are better players than him who have been waiting a long time to get in. He's in a similar boat to a guy like Eli Manning imo, great memorable moments in the post-season, but his regular season stats are pretty underwhelming for what you'd expect from a HOFer. Maybe he gets in one day, but I think that'll be a long time down the road if it ever happens.
@Hayden Cook He absolutely would advocate for him. Deion cares about grit and production. Nobody embodies grit more than Jules, and there's nobody the GOAT would trust more than Jules in the biggest moments where he needed a play.

I bet we could make a list of at least 5 returners who belong above Edelman that pat played against. To me, Edelman wasn't #1 in any one thing but he could do more than just about anyone.
Edelman had a knack for making plays that just needed to be made. Tom Brady is a clutch QB, no doubt, but how many desperate third downs were converted by Edelman? How many critical plays went to number 11? Glad I got to watch most of his career.
probably one of the hardest WRs ever to completely shut down, also whenever he wasn't on the field the Pats O wasn't the same.Should be a HoFer based on his clutch playoff impact. The season doesn't end in the regular season

It really does suck that nearly EVERY take about Edelman is instantly about the Hall of Fame. Edelman will most likely not make the Hall of Fame due to his average to low regular season performance. Nearly everyone agrees on that. What we SHOULD be doing is celebrating how a 7th round quaterback became the 2nd best wide receiver in the playoffs of all time, only behind Jerry Rice!

Julian is a hall of farmer. Without him, Brady wouldn’t have beaten the Falcons, the Rams, and countless other teams in the playoffs, if people think Eli is a hall of famer, then Julian is for sure. In the biggest moments on the biggest stage, he led with no fear.
Everyone talks about regular season stats but the POST SEASON is where the best of the best teams play & EDELMAN DOMINATED them all to the tune of 2nd All-time. He played the best and beat the best as a slot receiver and had to be strategize around.
100% a hall of famer, dude Is one of the most clutch receivers in the playoffs of all time, I don't think you can argue against that, and just want to point out people always make the "didn't win a super bowl" argument so to produce the way edelman did not only in the Superbowl but all through the playoff, every year.. definitely deserves to be in the hall of fame, unquestionably in my opinion
No. Just no. 0 pro bowls, 0 all pros. Doesnt rank in the top 250 for tds scored. Is 156 in yards. Those are not superbowl numbers. His postseason stats are inflated because hes played in the 5th most games for any receiver and of the 5 guys with more only 2 are in the hall of fame(rice, Andre reed) who crush his overall stats.
If Eli Manning gets in the hall of fame then Edelman should get in. I'm all for neither one of them getting in because Eli has been average his whole career besides those two post season runs, but I have a feeling Eli will get in because of his family. If that happens, then there is no excuse for not putting in Edelman.
There absolutely still is an excuse. The main one: there would still be a ton of other receivers more deserving to be in the HOF other than Edelman, including Wes Welker
I remember back when we were playing against the ravens in that blowout wild-card loss back in 09 a play Edelman made on a 4th and 7. It was with about 8 minutes left in the game, we were getting blown out by the ravens and Edelman catches a screen pass by Brady and he has nowhere to go, but he jukes out a few guys and fights for the extra yard and gets the first down. That was the day I knew he was gonna be a special player for my Patriots. Ultimately I think a flag was thrown and nulled the play, but he always played with heart. He had a great career Pats Nation will miss Jules. Foxboro Forever.
It's his post season stats that are the most impressive. That and his spectacular super bowl catches. Too bad they don't put you first ballot hall of fame for making incredible catches. You gotta have the regular season stats too...Love this guy with all my heart. I'll wear his jersey until the day that I die.
Edleman is in this weird place where his numbers in the regular season aren’t hall of fame. At the same time he’s was such a prominent player for 3 superbowls and as they say can u tell the story of the nfl without him?

I love the guy, and love you Pat but WTF lol there's no way he's a HOFer. Maybe retire his jersey/number in NE but HOF is not even close (in my honest/dumb opinion).
Coming from a Pats fan here, he's definitely a PATRIOTS HOFer. He was amazing for us, and we (as fans) always knew that if Edelman was thrown the ball, he would catch it. Now, for the discussion, if he should be put into the NFL HOF, that's more debatable. I see a case for him being a HOF way later down the line (maybe 4th or 5th ballot) but not anytime soon. Helluva career though, that can't be denied.
@@Peterchad1 Well, accounting for just his regular season stats, that would make sense. However, he was ELITE in the Postseason. I get the argument that it's only a small part. Anyway, instead of even debating whether or not he should be in the HOF (WHICH HE CAN ONLY JOIN IN 5 YEARS), might as well just accept that he had a great career, one that many would dream of.
No way he is getting in the HOF. Great player yes! But not a HOF player. Look up Hines Ward’s stats and compare, it’s not even close. Hines is not in the HOF.
Those super bowl catches. The guy was a Wes welker clone, absolutely insane route runner and so reliable. The difference is he had to be a late bloomer as a college qb, got in for special teams only, then realized how good he was as a WR. He doesn’t have to have the WR stats if his background is all over the place on the field. You look at guys like Taysom Hill as an example and ask should he be allowed in the hall of fame for playing so many positions if he continues to play at his level? It’s one of those interesting questions that you wonder.
He's the football equivalent of Dustin Pedroia. An ultra competitive scrapper with a nasty streak and the skills to back it all up. Both were an absolute blast to root for over the years. But just like with Pedroia, going 100% on every play of every game will catch up with you, and the drop off will be quick. It was clear that happened with Julian and I think he picked the right time to walk away. They're also multiple time champions who will almost certainly get less HOF consideration than they deserve. Thanks for the memories #11!

One of my all time favorite players.
I remember he returned a punt return on Pat Mcafee good ole days

He transitioned from a college QB to a great slot receiver in the NFL. Got a few rings and made some big clutch plays when it mattered. Thank you Jules for all you’ve done ! Btw good take on him Pat !
Jules was one of the key players in one of the greatest dynasties to ever suit up mad love and respect to tht tough sumb**ch
How tough is he if he is using steroids. Sure that helped.
Malcolm Smith for example...Super Bowl MVP is the lowest weighing personal achievement a player can get
true underdog. So fortunate to see his whole career flourish in front of our eyes.

Julian Edelman is one of my favorite players.... and I'm a big time RAIDERS fan. 👏 Hell of a football player congrats. And in my opinion he is a HOF.

Edelman had a knack for making plays that just needed to be made. Tom Brady is a clutch QB, no doubt, but how many desperate third downs were converted by Edelman? How many critical plays went to number 11? Glad I got to watch most of his career.

That catch in the Pats/ Atlanta Super Bowl and you know what catch I’m talking about is enough to put him in the HOF
julian edelman always came up on 3rd and long when the patriots needed it the most. i remember one game where he had 10 catches, and all were first downs. he always kept the drive alive, and he can a psychic connection with brady, he always knew where the ball would be placed relevative to the leverage of the defender playing him.

I've heard the news. Now I come here for the true story.
Everyone talks about regular season stats but the POST SEASON is where the best of the best teams play & EDELMAN DOMINATED them all to the tune of 2nd All-time. He played the best and beat the best as a slot receiver and had to be strategize around.
We need Jules on the show
100% a hall of famer, dude Is one of the most clutch receivers in the playoffs of all time, I don't think you can argue against that, and just want to point out people always make the "didn't win a super bowl" argument so to produce the way edelman did not only in the Superbowl but all through the playoff, every year.. definitely deserves to be in the hall of fame, unquestionably in my opinion
No.
Great career for a guy who played quarterback in college✊🏼
Man I love Pat 😂😂 he’s so goofy he’s knows damn well know one was ever shown a tape of him tackling 😂😂
the Bengals will get an indoor practice facility before Edelman gets into the HoF
You really want to put that in the aether though?
If Eli Manning gets in the hall of fame then Edelman should get in. I'm all for neither one of them getting in because Eli has been average his whole career besides those two post season runs, but I have a feeling Eli will get in because of his family. If that happens, then there is no excuse for not putting in Edelman.
There absolutely still is an excuse. The main one: there would still be a ton of other receivers more deserving to be in the HOF other than Edelman, including Wes Welker
Awesome player! I'm a Chiefs fan and he was such a soul crusher! Bucs?

It's a joke to even consider him a hall of famer with his limited production
He’s the first true versatile weapon

He's the football equivalent of Dustin Pedroia. An ultra competitive scrapper with a nasty streak and the skills to back it all up. Both were an absolute blast to root for over the years.
But just like with Pedroia, going 100% on every play of every game will catch up with you, and the drop off will be quick. It was clear that happened with Julian and I think he picked the right time to walk away.
They're also multiple time champions who will almost certainly get less HOF consideration than they deserve. Thanks for the memories #11!
