  • Using airguns to combat rose-ringed parakeets on Kauai. Native to India, these birds ravage residential and commercial agriculture on Kauai. Not only do they target food crops and fruit trees, they also spread invasive plants and disease through their droppings. Large and noisy flocks can be observed at dusk in areas where they roost. These are where the battles will take place, at their roosting locations. Doing my part to help secure the natural beauty and food securities of my island. Mahalo for watching. I hope you enjoy. Aloha

Nice selection of targets there. Glad they all stay still for you. I bet a small army of marksmen could really make a dent in the population
Keep up the good work. Mahalo

The birds stay still, but the wind blows the frond around. We try but there's still alot of places that won't allow us access. And sadly, we're getting push back because they've monetized it for a few and those people complain cause we're reducing the money they get. Which is dumb. Its a problem to be rid of, not keep around to catch a check. Mahalo for your support and kind words. Mahalo for watching. Take care, aloha.

@@Sky121671 I full on understand. I grew up in koloa and moved back when I got out of the army. Now I live waimea and the houses are closer than I'm used to. Me and a buddy are planning an airgun shoot sometime soon. I'll hit you up if anything.

Good job. In Australia we call them Indian ring necks. We don't have wild flocks. Just the pet trade. Is thus Hawaii?

Yes, this is Hawaii on Kauai. They were originally pets but escaped starting with hurricane Ewa in 1982 and then again with hurricane Iniki in 1992. Since then their population has gone pretty much un checked, except for a few locals like myself, that are tired of the destruction that they cause. Not only do they eat fruits and crops, they also defecate alot where they roost, usually onto park tables and benches that are under the trees. Pretty crappy for tourists trying to enjoy watching the sunset and having these things defecating all over them. I hope your pet industry doesn't turn into a problem like we have here.
