For newer versions of Audacity, the Leveler is actually Distorsion > Distorsion then Distorsion Type: Leveler
Thanks man, don't have to search for it now.
Thank you so much!
Thank you for this
your a hero
Thanks for this
Using 3 or 4 layers of noise reduction will almost certainly ruin your audio quality even with bass boost I highly recommend NOT doing this without backing up your files first to make sure you don't create a mess...
I agree...especially for vocals...Best is to highlight each breath sound and apply the above effect with very subdued settings...Have you ever listened to someone singing or speaking with no breath sounds...it sounds weird...
So true..
This guy it's a complete mor on -- he never hear the audio before applying layers and layers of noise reduction
Really thank you! It took me 2 hours to cut out all my breathing from 1 hour podcast by marking them manually and replacing them by silence :). Masacre! I used everytime noise reduction for removing outdoor recording noise (did amazing job on waterfall sound in my podcast) now I will use it for my breathing and clicking sounds :). Thanks man, thanks so much :)!
Thank you. Your instructions are so clear. I wish you had more tutorials for Audacity. I just wanted you to know that you are appreciated.
The problem with this method is that it distorts the quality of the audio.
this is horrible method
dude I was going to have to re-record my entire podcast, but I found this and fixed it. It took care of 90% of the breathing!
You're a total legend for taking the time to do this, really appreciate it and it's saved me so much time now! Thank you
No worries!
This has made my audio sound a lot better. Thanks!
Equalization have been replaced by filter curve you can do the same with this plug in now (bass bost) direction is: Effects / filter curve / manage / factory presets / bass boost
THANK YOUUU
thank you
It works! Thank you for the advice! To be honest it seems to damper down the rest of my clip also. The audio is still there, but it seems 'eared' a bit by running this function from Audacity.
Really good job, Loved this video. I avoided removing any breath sounds because I was worried it would make the audio sound choppy, but this works flawlessly. Really good video!
I did a lot of pre-recorded messages for radio. I used to go through the whole thing removing my noisy breathing. It took hours on top of the recording! At least I now know how to remove future breaths easily. Thanks!
too much Noise reduction destroys the audio -- why didn't you play the sound at the end so we could hear the difference? sigh --- you knew what would happen didn't you
Yes, that's true but he only reduced it, which when I do to mine still sounds fine, he even says at the end of the video that you still want to hear the person breathing
You also can do what he's suggested with one particular noise - without highlighting the whole clip.
I am just keeping my microphone a bit further away now, and thats helping reduce the breathing captures, when I am recording my videos.
Thank you so much for putting this guide together! I hope you have a great year ahead. 💖✨
This will save me a lot of time. Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial.
I did what you said in this video, and the sound turned out horrible. I think I might of removed to much breath sounds that it affected the general audio and the base boost did not help. So I just took out less and did not use the bass boost and the sound was awesome.
I agree...I used to use Noise Removal Effect on my vocals...no matter what setting you use it deteriorates the quality of the audio file and especially vocals. There are two alternatives and they involve a bit of work especially if it's a long recording. Remember before you start... "breath sounds" are a natural sound when you record vocals...Taking a breath sound off completely sounds weird on a recording. (1) Highlight each breath sound individually and go to the Amplify effect & test what amount you want to reduce the sound & repeat for all the others. It's not difficult to do if you're recording is less than 4 or 5 minutes long. (2) The other and probably more effective is to apply the above procedure but only highlight each breath sound you want want the effect to apply to.. I've been using Audacity for over ten years...The best & most important effect right now is Loudness Normalization (LUFS) which should be applied when all other effects have been done. This effect ensures that your Audio is at the correct levels when you upload to TH-cam. I use -14dB LUFS setting. You can check your audio levels afterwards on TH-cam by right clicking on the video and going to "Stats For Nerds"..and going to the third column down. This will tell you how much your levels have been reduced by TH-cam or should be increased to get to get the levels right. Remember TH-cam will decrease your audio to their standard levels no matter how much you amplify on Audacity but will *NOT* increase the levels if the audio is too low.
After watching this video and trying it, I noticed that Audacity has the shortcut up top to Repeat Noise Reduction after having done it the first time. So you can just do that on the part that's highlighted - if you're reducing one noise at a time.
You can also use keyboard shortcuts as well to speed it up. But doing that throughout a very long audio makes fingers tired :)
Thanks so much!!! this really helped.
I find when I do stuff like this, the audio I'm trying to keep suffers. Too many passes with the noise remover.
This is a great video, but due to its age some of the selections have changed, I have created a list below:
For the Leveler
Effect -> Distorsion > Distorsion then Distorsion Type: Leveler
For Compressor
Effect -> Volume and Compression -> Compressor
For Noise Reduction
Effect -> Noise Repair & Removal -> Noise Reduction
For Equalization/Bass Boost
Effect > EQ and Filters -> Filter Curve EQ (select Bass boost)
For Normalize
Effect -> Volume and Compression -> Normalize
First off, thank you for this video! I used the technique and the breaths did indeed go away. Unfortunately, the whole audio sounds really "off" after doing so. It's like the richness of my voice is gone and I sound like I'm doing my podcast from a cell phone or something. I'll keep looking for a solution! Good luck everyone!
This is great! However my breathing noise did sort of come back after enhancing bass and the normalization part so I did another round of noise reduction.
Dude I'm trying to get started on acx and hearing my breathing has been killing me audition wise thank you
Thanks Mate!
Appreciate the tutorial, but in what way is this tedious 18 step process considered "automictically"
Amazing tutorial, thanks!
Thank you so much..
Great Explanation Thank you !
You are welcome!
this is not the best method as it affects the quality of the sound too much. the best video is from some foreign guy named "Automatically Remove Breathing from Audios, Podcasts or Videos" that used auto duck besides nosie reduction. Try that instead and compare results.
you think bro??
@@mafijas1055 he is right
Thanks for the tip!
Thank you!
I think if you use the noise gate you cant get a better result without distort que audio quality
LEGEND AT WORK
Hi Mister How To...very helpful video. I can't find Leveler in Audacity. What would another name be for it? I want to follow all the steps. Thank you.
You can run the compressor and limiter effects to level.
Whenever I apply "Noise Reduction" to an entire track, it changes the quality to sounding like I recorded inside a tin can. I have yet to find someone who can address this issue.
This was great. I accidentally hit the unlike button but I fixed it. This was very helpful!
THANKS A LOT ❤️ I was in trouble now feeling good ❤️🤟
It is NOT the correct method to remove "unwanted" breath. Every time the noise reduction process is repeated, the quality of the audio will be affected. I usually keep it mellow. This will actually give the listener a good feeling, especially if it is a female voice.
wont this fuck ur audio???
thank you bro for giving this vid. great work👍😀😘
No problem 👍
Amazing!
I don't have leveler in Effect.
Remember that every time you use the Noise Reduction in Audacity, you are running processing over your whole track (and degrading the audio each time) that much more.
I was really excited about this, tried it out and it totally messes up the audio. No go!
thank you so much
You're welcome!
This doesn't destroy the sound of the speaker?
Don't do this. Seriously, this is waaaay overprocessing the audio. Either lower the gain on the breath or cut it out and add silence from another part in the track to fill the gap.
Amazing video
Good job
whatever version I have, doesn't have leveler. Does anyone else know what I should do?
Not really "automatic"...
This is fantastic, thank you kindly Sir. :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
thank youuu
Useful but after I use noise reduction on one breath, the entire track sounds muffled and not as crisp
I'd never do this. I find it too disruptive for the overall sound. I prefer to handle each breath sound individually. It's more work, but the overall effect is preferable to me.
how to do it bro?? doing the same thing he does?
@@mafijas1055 I'm recording my first audiobook. It took me 8 hours just to manually edit 15 minutes. I still have 4 hours of recordings to edit. I will never be able to meet the deadline this way. There HAS to be a better way to edit out breaths in-between sentences.
@@Bob-lr2xp okay share me the link when you do it
I don't have the levelar
I followed your instructions and my audio sounds terrible. The breaths are gone, but the audio quality itself dropped significantly.
What’s leveler in the 2023/2024 version?
Are you Australian?
my whole audio is getting affected
It would be easier just to mute them out...
You had two breathing sound. You make more work than taking away each. you did so many step for nothing. this is bad work enviroment
Thank you.
