Peter never failed to give an interesting interview. What a Renaissance man he was. Wow - and get to the end, his remarks on "being a hero unto yourself" and his philosophy about being different... I wish the interviewer had asked more questions around these themes!

The idea of the individual as an expression of the hero to himself is also expressed in the work of Joseph Campbell in his work, The Power Of Myth. Campbell was a patient of the Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Jung, who may have been the first to express this idea.
If we have confidence in our self and do the required work in developing our own inner power (achieved through empowering our version of love) then we become "individuated" and the leader and hero of who and all we can be... :)

@@robbrown4621 I hadn't heard of Joseph Campbell or this particular work - will have to look this one up. Thanks for responding with this!

@@bluestmarble9934 This may be a helpful analysis of Joseph Campbell's idea of the hero (originating with Carl Jung). There is a lot of Joseph Campbell on TH-cam. He did a series in the late 1990s along the line of Carl Sagan's Cosmos: th-cam.com/video/Hhk4N9A0oCA/w-d-xo.html

You can hear how his voice changed, that darn cancer eventually won. I miss my favorite Monkee, the best of the bunch.

I always especially enjoyed when Peter took himself seriously on an interview. I mean the clowning was fine and all, but....he had a lot of talent and ideas that were often left in the background (and yes, he should have played LEAD on guitar with the Monkees).

Crawdaddy! magazine has an interesting history, I checked it out on Wikipedia because watching Angie, conduct her interview, she at times appeared to me cool if not cold, unconnected, a bit insincere toward her guest. Perhaps it was not her preferred assignment. Still enjoyed hearing from Peter Tork.
