- Peter Tork (b. February 13, 1942) is an American musician and actor, best known as a member of The Monkees.
After more than two years of the show, six albums, a movie (Head), a television special, and tours across America and abroad, Tork had had enough and quit the group, striking out on his own with a group called Release and contributing banjo to George Harrison's soundtrack to the film Wonderwall. He was also credited with co-arranging a Micky Dolenz solo single on MGM Records in 1971.
In 1976, Tork reunited with fellow Monkees Davy Jones and Micky Dolenz for the recording of a Christmas single, which saw limited release.
To make ends meet, Tork periodically worked as a high school, substitute teacher, tutor, and basketball coach.

I looked up to him as a kid. I'm only 20 now. And now as an adult, I admire him truly. His intelligence, optimism, dedication and jubilance is so thoroughly communicated just through his speaking. I love this guy.
I met Peter at a Monkees convention and he was exceedingly kind and gracious. Thanks, Peter, for the music and all of the laughs, and may you rest in peace.
He was centered and happy in his later life, this is very comforting to me!
If there was ever a single person in this world I would ever want to talk with it would be this man.
Me too!😊
I'm sure George Harrison & Peter Tork will have a frank discussion on spirituality up in Heaven.
Always was...and still is the cutest most musically talented Monkee
Peter Tork and George Harrison were so much alike in many ways. Both my all time favorites. Great, witty and down to earth. Precious gems.
Peter was a deep thinker and highly intelligent, as evidenced by his answers here. Down to Earth, genuine, and self deprecating. He's just perfect.
Peter is so intelligent and very smart and so open and honest peter is so sweet and very down to earth loving person
So incredibly poignant listening to you share your thoughts & heart 2 days after your passing. "Be a hero to yourself" was such a powerful take-away . Thank you Peter, for not only being a friend to all of us, but giving us joy, lots of laughs, memorable music & your words of wisdom. Rest in Peace amigo.
So underrated . 💕 RIP Peter 🌹
Be a hero to yourself is fabulous saying Pete had will never forget. RIP.
What an absolute delight to see Peter Tork after all these years! Wise and gentle and refreshing, there is still a youthful and buoyant magic to him. In fact, he's better than ever.
I've loved this man since I was 7 or 8 yrs old. He was my favorite Monkee. I ended up becoming a professional musician myself, and looking back, their music really inspired me, just the mix of styles, from pop to country rock to jazz. Despite being portrayed as the dumb one, he is the smartest. Peter Tork is one of the guys I'd love to play with, just once.
Peter Tork was ALWAYS my favorite one of The Monkees
Me, too.
RIP sweet Peter.
"Be a hero to myself". If we could all strive to that end, the world would be a better place. Great interview.
I do so love Peter Tork. I feel certain that we could have an amazing conversation. Beautiful soul.
Thinking of Peter today on his birthday. Hope it's heavenly! 🩷
You will be missed. Rest in love Peter.
My favorite Monkee.
I have to agree, he's such a down to earth, real person. A very interesting person, and I really like his philosophy on life! He was my favorite in the group from day one, and still is.
I always felt Peter was an old soul, here to spread his wisdom and gentle philosophy. Why do I feel so close to someone I never knew?
He still has a young mind . . . something that leaves most people by his age.
Great interview :)
Yes Peter be A Hero to your Self is a great motto to living your own life
A beautiful true Peter. You are missed. You were so much more than the character you played. What an extraordinary person you were.❤️
Brenda Jones Just came across this. Good interview, huh? He was always so articulate. I could listen to him all day.
I WILL MISS U OLD FRIEND. U WERE A DEEP DUDE, GOODBYE, AND THANKS FOR THE FUN AND LAUGHS

I've met him a couple of times. He's a really nice guy.
Peter Tork was and still is my favorite. I love his music now with Blue Suede Shoes. I always respected him for his honesty and down to the realism roots. Love his humor of course and his singing. :)
FYI, the name of his group is Shoe Suede Blues.
Nice pfp :)

Articulate and interesting to listen to. A very good interview with Peter Tork.
In real life, opposed to the Peter character in the show, he had so much wisdom.
Peace onto.Mr.Tork, thank you for the good times.⚘🌐🙏🗻
Always has been and always will be a nice guy
best interview ever posted by peter for the general masses--
Peter was amazing ❤
What an interesting interview - not the "same old, same old" questions, and Peter gives such thoughtful responses. Thank you for posting this!!
What a lovely man Peter Tork was, and became...filled with the wisdom that age can bring. This is such a nice video. Thanks.
What a nice guy, & an excellent interview.
R.I.P.
That was a great interview on Peter tork
Be still my heart. RIP.
A very smart guy, with a lot of talent. I like his blues stuff, and he seems like a nice guy too. I think he should do some self helps tapes too, he has a flare for words, a kindness to him, and understands from experience how difficult life can be. Best of luck Pete.
This is great!!
Thanks Peter. Love you.
Like The Beatles, there is only 2 left in The Monkees.
Yes wouldn't it be wonderful to sit and have a talk with him - a D & M - he doesn't make jokes out of everything you talk about which some people do to get out of having a talk. I've always loved Peter, it hasn't changed over the years. I do also like his dry sense of humour which he has, which he doesnt show much of here.
Rip Peter.
I love Peter!
Hey, Toronto! Nice to see.
Great interview. ♥ This guy is amazing.

I would love to have seen the other Monkees answer the same questions.
I needed to hear a lot of that
Awsome musician, awsome man!!! I still have my autograph of Mr. Tork from 1996..That was round the time of the Justus CD !!! The Monkees performed in Cleveland,Ohio...They really rocked!!! Very entertaining show!!! I grew up watching the Monkees since 1970/71-re-runs as a child and have bee a fan sence..I wonder if Mr. Tork liked the New Monkees that came out in 1987!!?? 've always wondered about that. Rock on Mr. Tork!!
Wow. What a great interview - and what an amazing guy with fascinating insight into life. I agree with stychnthyme - want a great conversation Peter Tork would be.
RIP Peter
ADD, yes I would have to agree but what talent....
Peter always just seems like such a nice guy. Loved the Monkees and loved seeing this video. He's going to be at the Chicago Wizard World Comic Con and I'm so looking forward to meeting him. :)
all excellent probing revealing questions... designed to bring out the subject's nature... good articulate repsonses from The Tork
Thank you for sharing this video❤️👏❤️ enjoyed very much
Way to go, Pete!
This is one of the better youtube vids I've ever watched. Thanks for uploading this :)
Actually he was more like George Harrison, the quiet, whimsical, versatile one.
Peter Tork got to spend an afternoon with George Harrison at his house when The Monkees went to England. Tork also got to record some banjo on the sessions for Harrison soundtrack Lp, 'Wonderwall'.
I agree
He is right, probably at least once in your life you will meet someone who wants you to be somebody you are not. It is not an emergency on your part to try to please that person, no matter how hysterical or emotional they may act.
Love you, Peter.
Good Lord, I can't believe he's SEVENTY!!!! Happy Belated Birthday!
He was 65 when this interview happened. But, yeah, time flew by quickly
So sorry he's gone. Just a wonderful guy.
RIP :-(
Ah, 2007, he was battling cancer at that time. His doctors gave him a clean bill of health in 2009, so he was still in the middle of that fight. Glad to see he kept his wicked sense of humor.
Wow the piety comment. Perfect answer.
I LOVE THIS! THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS, GOOD QUESTIONS AND GREAT ANSWERS!
HAPPY BIRTHAY MR.TORK
i really enjoyed this thanks
I have one of his strats, at least I think so. You can see it in the video "Deep Blue dJinn in the studio, Jan 2011"
Very interesting interview. :) He seems very likeable.
Real!
