I really appreciate your effort to play games on there original systems, I’ve got nothing against emulation but it’s just nice to see there’s still a passion for original hardware out there
I own around 15 consoles. to this day, all are in working operation. Many of thiee consoles are ~20 years old now, including my GameCube, ps2, atari, gamboy, original ds, etc. The issue, of which is the reason why people prefer emulation, is the maintenance for those consoles is time consuming, intricate, and sometimes very expensive. Even though I own a large collection of games and consoles (enough to literally fill an entire wall space), I prefer my pc emulation because I don't have to worry about crashes, disks, bad memory, laser failure, overheating, graphical issues, bad cords or power supply, etc. It's just easier to emulate.
@@nolanb9466 It's not preferred just because of maintenance, you have a whole slew of extra features in an emulator vs original hardware including moding, high res textures, variable resolutions, AA, AF, and a whole bunch of other features. Plus it's insanely more convenient.
this was done with a PS2 and OSSC. not a PS1 with HDMI. I use PS1 HDMI for games I am not speedrunning, yes, but I play a PS2 and actual discs when I speedrun.
Raccoon City must have had a low AF crime rate. Kendos shop had no bars or shutter on the easily breakable plate glass window with all his stock just chilling there.
I remember speed running (before speed running was a thing) this game when I was in high school back in 98. Best time I ever got was 1:50:03. I look forward to seeing your work Carci.

Ty for including the SCPH version used. I still play these games via emulator on the go and always shoot for a self imposed best time. Its the little differences that make or break things.
RE2 original Leon has a special place in my heart. Way better voice acted than the remake's Leon and has some personality, too. Thanks for the professional speedrun, Carci! Have you thought about streaming Darkwood? It's a top-down survival horror game with tense... well everything to be honest. Hard to describe without checking it out.

Equally nice is to see that yer not neglecting the old classics like RE2/PS2 versions instead of all the recent focus on the Remakes. I still have those games myself and still play them. Often I do play them on the PS3 to conserve the old PS2 and PS1 hardwares. Unless I wanna, for fun and giggles, play the gameshark and just fool around like playing with infinite rapid fire ammo, LOL!
The booklet from my copy of RE2 is still in my game drawer with a sticky note on it that reads: Leon/A 1:21:42 Don’t think I’m ever going to have the time in my hands to improve that but I’m proud of that time.
i have the original disk and the dual shock version i have it on psp and ps3 also haha beat this game at 5 yrs old i stil have the game guide also my best time was 1 hr 40 min or something i couldn't save the game at all so i hada play it all the way thru haha ima play it for my kids when i have kids
Wow shooting zombies in the knee cap is how u stagger them in the remake. I never realized that worked in OG as well. Wow capcom really stayed tru to the OG
sorry to ask that, but how you get that "perfect image" if i use a AV Cable on my ps2/3 to play ps1 games, (use too componente cable with 5 conectors) the image is "ugly" on OBS on videoCapture Screen, but i can see that's perfect image on your resolution despite everything, it's a great run Sorry About my bad English i'am from Brazil (used a translate google on final)

Buena velocidad de tiempo, pero si tu idea es tardar menos (que no speedrun), usa la versión rookie, yo jugue con Leon A en la DualShock y tarde 1:09:02 (y podria tardar menos porque use el lanzacohetes unas veces, intenté no usarlo). Tengo la foto por si no me crees, xd.
Si usaste un emulador o una ps2 modoficada, ese tiempo es lento, especialmente para un speedrun de rocket launcher. Tengo un tiempo mucho más rápido en psp. psp es un emulador oficial de Sony, así que a veces hago speedruns con esa versión Perdón por mi pobre español, no conozco muy bien ese idioma, así que estoy usando un traductor.
One of the best RE clones (with sprinkles of Eternal Darkness) is Them & Us, which I found to be pretty hard even on easy. Would be great if you managed to do a no damage video for it.
