Hey I know this is old but I have to thank you for posting this. Being a huge RE fan, back in 1998, I was 10. And unfortunately I never finished the game despite how much I adored it. But sitting here smiling ear to ear seeing how the story unfolded and how smoothly you handled every nook and cranny just makes me a little happy inside. Mainly because I lived vicariously through you for an hour and a half. Thanks for this vid!
Interesting fact: In Leon A, Leon backed up into the pole and the zombie fly out from the back of the police car, and they both aware of the 16 wheeler truck; In Claire A, Leon crashed into the pole and the zombie fly out from the front of the police car, and only Leon is aware of the 16 wheeler truck via rear view mirror. Which made the start of Leon A, Claire A, Leon B, and Claire B differ from each other, and that is a really nice set up.
Basically, RE2 wouldn't even have happened (and with it, neither would have RE3) if that damn Umbrella dude knew how to aim and killed Birkin in the first place... GOOD JOB MATE. Claire would have arrived in a normal city, she would have met Chris and went to dinner with Jill and Barry while Leon would have been filling paperwork in a creepy office and they would never have met.
Not completely untrue, zombies were still present in the mansion before the STARS teams showed up, so it's entirely possible that some zombies and infected animals got out before they arrived.
Yes, indeed, there were zombie dogs in the forrest, and sooner or later they would have contaminated the city, but the big bad outbreak happened because of rats eating the T virus leaked during the attack on Birkin's lab. But yeah, the city was pretty fucked even before that anyway, that's true.
A little trivia: the technique used by Claire while shooting with the Colt Single Action Army is an actual shooting technique, called fanning. It consists in keeping the trigger pulled and moving the striker with the off-hand repeatedly. It allows for a more fast-paced shooting, basically :D
Carci bet when you did this you never dreamed you’d do the remake!! I live in the uk and your remake vids have helped me massively Thanks dude. Keep up the amazing work Think you should do all the play station metal gears!
Crocs are huge, have spiny ridges along their back and tail, and live down here in Oz Carcin. RE2 has one big a*#e alligator I believe. Also, love your videos.
Because of your videos i started to play the RE series from the first one. Games that i've played a little back in that time, but never really put much dedication into it. Now i will try to finish the original trilogy and maybe also play Code: Veronica and Outbreak. Thanks!
As much as I love the Remake I really wish they would have kept this and the storyline were basically are any characters scenario while one I would like for it to be different but to even if they didn't make it different in these still did it the way they did it I would have loved once you come across officer Marvin that he does explain everything that's going on but I think it would have been way more interesting to actually see Claire's reaction vs. Leon's when it actually comes to the idea of finding out that it had to do with the Mansion incident versus them just being left in the dark to find the note left by Chris
Found another inconsistency in the game: the road Leon and Claire drive through in the beginning and where the tanker truck slams into them, it looks pretty wide in the opening cinematic of RE2, but when you play RE3 and investigate the map and the surroundings of that part of the town, you'll notice that the same street is pretty narrow, like it has room only for one small vehicle. I think that you can see part of that street in the alley that's between Longsdale Yard (where you battle the gravedigger for the first time) and the City Hall (the Y-shaped alley).
Wow! I never knew Brad was at bottom of the entrance stairs. So I'm guessing by the time claire and leon arrived at the police station jill already went to the clock tower?
Is this really true? I am looking at this video like/? kind of puzzled. Claire has always been Scenario B,When does she go through Leons path on A scenario? Wouldnt that make this video B?
Subhash x Record It’s true. Each character has an A and B scenario. Starting a new game starts the A scenario, and loading a finished game save starts the B scenario
@@dile3725 i learned a factoid about the in game canon for A and B yesterday. CarcinogenSDA does longplay runs on his channel. He put it like this that because he had killed the Alligator with the explosive barrel in the A side that Claires Scenario doesn't exp that enemy. I had no idea One run affected anything more than extra weapon or item selection.
Even after all of the playthrus and speedruns I have done with Claire, I never paid any mind to the fact that Kendo's crossbow uses the same cocking sounds as his shotgun. xD
I know this comment is old but you sure gave me some nostalgia with what you said about the old friend. My friend Benny lives and breathes Resident Evil and he has the same dedication that Carci has to these games. Long live RE
For anyone following along, but playing on the NA version (or perhaps any non-JP version). The handgun ammo in the STARS Office is on the floor behind Wesker's desk.

Hey Carci did you know you can get the bow gun or shotgun that Robert Kendo was holding in claire A or Leon A after killing the zombies that were eating Kendo 2 times I just wanted to let you or anyone who reads this know.
It' looks like in the beginning, the zombies that are on the path to the police station are a little different in the US version and a little bit harder to make it there without damage. So you're right, in Resident evil 2 the zombies are harder to to kill without damage. An example is at 27:20, you run right by the zombie and he didn't even move or turn around..lol. That doesn't happen in the US version.
there are two zombies there in the US version. you’d just kill those. oooohhhh, two crossbow uses, so hard~ the US version isn’t actually harder in casual play. you’re just forced to shoot more things.
No need to be so sensitive, I wasn’t criticizing you, I was agreeing with you. YOU said the US version was more difficult to do a no damage run and you’re right. I was pointing out things I saw to validate your statement.
hey man, don’t put words in my mouth. i wasn’t being sensitive, i was mocking the idea that the US version is somehow harder. Now Nightmare Mode, that’s a challenge.
I think I see what happened here. I think I misunderstood you. I went back to the video and listened again, and around the 12:36 mark you said that the zombies in Resident Evil 2 are a little tricky for no damage. Since you were playing Biohazard 2, I thought you were saying that the zombies in Resident evil 2 were more trickier than Biohazard 2, thus making them more difficult to deal with. I forgot that it's the same game, just called something different in Japan and you were just referring to resident evil 2 in name only. I wasn't criticizing you or trying to put words in your mouth. I've picked the game back up and played it again because I saw your videos, they were great runs and you made it look easy. Also at the 12:35 mark, when I shoot those zombies, somehow one or two always grabbed my leg, no matter how fast I shoot. I've completed A/B with both characters with the worst ratings so now I'm going for higher rating. I've completed Claire A/Leon B with B ratings in my last attempt and now I'm going for the one save attempt because there's no way i'll ever get no damage.
Hey Carci, will there be B scenario playthroughs on here in the future? You got me through Directors Cut, Remake, 3, and the A scenarios so far, yet I need more guidance lol
The original Resident Evil 2 released on playstation one in year 1998 should be remade by Capcom then thereafter released where you play as Ada Wong character with her own story on disc one scenario A and disc two scenario B for PC and playstation consoles or nowadays video games are downloaded from online services whereby there's no physical disc, my point is give Ada Wong her own story since Claire also had her own. Capcom should use the same engine as was used for original Resident Evil 2 because it seems whenever too much change occurs it's just a mess especially when it comes to video game remakes. Resident Evil 3:Nemesis released in year 1999, according to video game reviewers had better improved character models and overall graphics but it was mostly similar in gameplay style to Resident Evil 2 which is magnificent, with it's pre-rendered backgrounds and tank controls. Playing as Ada Wong would certainly be fantastic, game developers should add new weapons, items and puzzles while leaving everything else as it is with tank controls and pre-rendered backgrounds, i emphasize leave everything graphics and gameplay wise as it was in 1998 while decreasing loading times and maybe improve character models as they appeared in Resident Evil 3:Nemesis, since technology has advanced rapidly. In terms of the story of Ada Wong there's talented writers to do it, one story where she survives at the end and another where she dies. Capcom can title it a retro video game re release of sorts and released on PC, playstation 5 and on any other gaming platform. People at Capcom need to revisit original Resident Evil 2 to see why the game was successful. Usually a common complaint of Resident Evil 3:Nemesis, for example, was it's too short, but it can be rectified with Resident Evil 2 with Ada Wong. Original Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3:Nemesis had brilliant dark tenebrous atmospheric tone of nightmarish horror emanating therefrom with zombies and other creatures contained therein.
Before Remake 3 came out, I was hoping that Capcom was going to include all of the major parts and key areas as well as the mercenaries mode that you play as a kind of side game. I don't remember if you have to beat the game first to unlock mercenary mode or not, but damn that was my favorite part of the OG Nemesis. Don't get me wrong, the main story and game play were outstanding as usual for late 90s survival horror, but I really loved the mercenaries mode. The Remake 3 was decent but some key areas were cut from the game and there is no mercenaries mode.
Question: Wouldn't picking up the bullets behind the Red Jewel Statue be faster than grabbing the ones off Barry's Desk? I mean, you're already pushing the statue over them, or are they not there in the Japanese version?
@@CarcinogenSDA thank u Carci! Btw i love your runs and speedruns with or without commentary.. They're very helpful. Sometimes when I can't sleep I put one of them and I ended up sleeping 😂😂
Claire's gun is stronger than Leon's gun yet Claire's was a police standard issue of the RPD so that means they should of been fine and not dead... Huh?
after watching a few of these, i wonder if it's possible to get away with a minimal shots run, basically, what's the bare minimum shots required to get through the game, and if we could improve on it. (Just to clarify, i mean in every RE game)
@@CarcinogenSDA I hate to be the one to say it, but that sounds like the kind of run that would be the equivilant to a dark souls 2 broken weapon run, while using the santier spear with the mundane infusion; kind of the obvious choice really. :/
At 12:20 you mentioned skipping that room because claire doesn't have the lighter yet & because the room doesn't have bullets. In the US version there are bullets in the back of the room where you light the fireplace, I'm guessing not in the JP version?
Just revisited the US spot, bullets are in fact completely hidden from sight. Mashing the action button in the northeast part of the screen will find them.
I know it's not in the JP version of RE2, this is the case with most hidden items however a hidden herb can be found in the same room you find the precinct map. Personally I prefer the US version for the sense of exploration.
is this because of the recording or is the japanese version actually this washed out in terms of color; Euro version really shines though the game is slower; Great run Mr. Carci!
In the A scenario with either Claire or Leon if you run out of bullets from what I remember you can just run around Birkin and wait for the elevator to come.
Apple Pie I'm not 100%, but i think A is with Sherry, and B is the other character's exploits in the meantime. So Leon B is in the same world as Clair A, and vice versa
Kiiller got it partly right :) There are four scenarios: Leon A, Clair B and Clair A, Leon B. Both A and B scenarios have the same basic setup for both characters, the main differences being that Sherry is always going to be with Clair and Ada will always be with Leon. What I meant by "the same basic setup" is that the routs you take in scenario A and B are going to be the same for the most part weather you are playing Leon or Clair. For example: Scenario A is always going to have you run to the gun shop while scenario B is always going to have you run towards the back area into a shed (minor differences being made along the way for Sherry or Ada). Those two different ways into the Police Station will have you run different routs through said station. Important items will also be put in different places depending on which scenario you are playing and which character you are using.

LCD + PS3 = lots of lag. Try a PS2 on a CRT if you can. Put your TV into game mode and turn off motion blur too.
I got him now. I just have to spam R1 and X.
Great!
13:52 Liquid?!!!
At 12:20 you mentioned skipping that room because claire doesn't have the lighter yet & because the room doesn't have bullets. In the US version there are bullets in the back of the room where you light the fireplace, I'm guessing not in the JP version?
Aaron i don't know, because i don't use handgun bullets as claire most of the time anyway
Just revisited the US spot, bullets are in fact completely hidden from sight. Mashing the action button in the northeast part of the screen will find them.
Aaron good to know :)
I know it's not in the JP version of RE2, this is the case with most hidden items however a hidden herb can be found in the same room you find the precinct map. Personally I prefer the US version for the sense of exploration.
Carci, why no knife only or kill all RE2 runs on your TH-cam channel?
Eric Olivier i haven’t done them yet
"yet?" as in they're coming?!
Eric Olivier when i get around to them. it usually takes me 2 weeks to do solid runs.
I can wait, these RE vids are great man, keep 'em coming.
I've never seen that outfit
is this because of the recording or is the japanese version actually this washed out in terms of color; Euro version really shines though the game is slower; Great run Mr. Carci!
uh this video was in composite, so it’s gonna be washed out.
In the American version the gun shop guy doesn't sexually discriminate against Claire by calling her babe and darling
yes he does
I'd say especially the American version
i did not know there were differences between the japanese and us version.
I am also wishing the Sherry section in the remake was not the Sherry section in the remake. :P Just not very engaging after doing it a bunch.
MARVIN IS WHAT?!
First time I played RE2 I had to restart because I didn't have ammo to beat final boss
In the A scenario with either Claire or Leon if you run out of bullets from what I remember you can just run around Birkin and wait for the elevator to come.
lmao i don’t think so. you just die if you fail to beat Birkin in a knife only run.
was played on an emulator or on a real ps1 i wish to know
PSP
What's the difference between A and B?
Apple Pie the B scenario for one character shows you what they were doing during the A scenario for the other character
22:54 who is the one that screams?
the mayor's daughter
And Marvin is- *BLAM* Hahaha!
Why do I always forget the valve handle!!!!
