One time, a kitten meowed at my back door to let her in. I let her in, made sure she got water and food, and then woke up my sister and told her she had a new kitten. Best gift I ever got her.
And who's gonna feed him? We rescue means provide food, shelter, medicines, vet, vitamins, etc. That's all need a lot of money. Rescuing without spay or neuter means farming.
If you care so much why are you not begging to take the cat in yourself? Man so much of this "bleeding heart" mentality but no followthough with the actual moral part of the concept. Oh and before you say I should, I don't feel these feeling towards animals I don't know, I form bonds over time I don't instantly "create" them. I live in Rual KS I've developed the thought I cant feel bad for every moment I see road kill cause id never feel anything but sadness again and I refuse to do this, you can I actually support you do.
I grew up in rural Michigan in the 1960s. We lived among farms although we did not have a farm. The cat distribution system sent us a total of 21 cats and kittens. There were feral cats, villages cats who got drop off as unwanted pets, kittens in boxes along the side of the road, one gifted by a friend of my mother who was aware of our kindness to feline friends, and one brought home my my adult sister who found it in a bird cage at a flea market. They all had names , loved to be cuddled, loved riding in my backpack on woodland walks, and came quickly if called. There was not even one who was aloof or malicious❤😊

The farms were disappearing to urban development. Poor cats and dogs were caught in the middle. Lots of sweet cats came through our life's We got pushed out eventually, by the development. Still when I see a cat I always wonder what happened to those cats. So many cats
We had a bunch growing up. I suspect they were forced out by development of the farm land by our house. People just started dumping them in our yard. We got them all fixed and my mom was down to maybe 10 when I left home. I am now attracting my own, but staying under double digits for now.
A few years ago on a summer afternoon we were drinking lemonade with our neighbor. She said she was considering getting a cat. Next day I was on my way home from work walking the last 300 meters, a skinny, tiny orange kitten jumped out of nowhere screaming at me from the top of his lungs. I picked him up, rang the bell at my neighbors', the hubby came out and took him without a word. The rest is history.

In September 2017 I lost my beloved Mr. Charles at 13 (the prettiest Maine Coon mix ever) to a one-in-a-million pet medicine side effect. I was inconsolable, never wanted to have another cat. In November my mom told me about a cat at her workplace who chose the warehouse to birth a litter of 3. The workers fed the kittens but they remained feral, momma cat left. Then one kitten got run over by a truck. Two days before Christmas my mother called me "I just realized the plant will be closed for the holidays until 2 January, what will happen to the kittens?" I told her "we both know what will happen to them...". I headed from work to the pet store then went home by taxi with the mountain of supplies. It took two hours for the forklift drivers to collect the "twins", as I refer to them (one loooong black cat with tiny head and a compact little tuxedo, they look nothing like each other). I love them to bits though even after 7 years one can't just pick them up or be loud around them, trauma is there. But they both are very happy. Those who don't own pets can't even imagine how many times a day these little critters make us laugh 😀
You must have an premium subscription. Take that precious black and white one in and find her a foster family. Or put a shelter on your porch! And it seems you may need to find the local TNR group or cat feeders if you have that many adorable needy cats around. Just think all the cats have noticed you're a kind and generous person and are asking for your help.
Shelters are so full everywhere now which is why ppl are looking for foster pet parents for awhile till there's room for till they are adopted to the right caring owners..

I've had cats all my life and, except for a couple, they all adopted me by various means: 1) Walking through an open door and going to sleep somewhere (bed, couch, my lap, on top of water heater in basement, etc.) 2) Perpetually camping on my porch waiting for me to open it so they could do #1. 3) Watching my front door from under my snow-covered car. I open the door and they do #1. 4) Neighbor passes away, cat does one of the above. You get the picture. Welcome to the club! All of you cats are absolutely lovely, by the way. Sorry man I'm in the same boat! The cat distribution system has always sent me double subscriptions! I have rehomed so many cats and I have 3 of my own a couple fosters waiting for a home and a wretched looking stray (who's looking better since I've fed him) outside. He has a little house outside though and a water dish and gets food when I see him which is most days. I can't take anymore in but I do what I can.
I understand the feeling. I have 9 and recently a mama feral decided my engine compartment would make a good nest. Luckily, I was able to get her four kittens out and mama moved them into my backyard. 🤦🏻♂️
I feel your pain! I now have 4 in the house and feed the neighborhood colony cats about a dozen. Two of the inside cats are from the colony. I can't take anymore in! Yep cancel my membership!
I also just lost an elderly cat! 18 years old. but then by a stroke of really bad luck, [one of] the youngest also passed away not even two weeks later. he was seemingly healthy. no symptoms leading up. completely shocked and saddened. he was only 2 and leaves behind his brother. barely had time to grieve one before I'm also grieving another. but then bare in mind I lost another one just 10 months ago. I've really been reminded lately how fragile life is.

I hear you! About a year ago we started feeding the stray cats that passed through our garden and garage and there became more than ten of them. Until four days ago when we saw four new kittens in the gutter above the front door.
When I was a child,every stray cat for miles around showed up at my house. I had twenty-four at one point. Only seven of them lived indoors; the rest shared the barn.❤ I want to renew my subscription to the network.
There’s a bulletin in the neighborhood that lets other cats know the 🏠 that will feed and get fresh water and that if they play their cards right they will be taken inside and pampered 😂😂😂❤

Two have lived to be 19 and my current cats are 18 and 11. But I have a friend who invariably adopts seniors ten years or older. A friend of mine who feeds all the strays on the west end of town had to move…the next morning, all the strays in the area were at her front door to welcome her, and ask for food!
People keep dumping their unwanted kittens in my driveway. We’ve had four of them and I’m tired of it. We bring them in, get them healthy, get them their shots, get them fixed and fattened up and find homes for them. But it’s exhausting. It’s expensive. People need to take care of their own cats. We got four of our own. Don’t need any more cats.
Been there done that. I think part of the problem is that you get a rep with neighbors for being their pet problem solver when you become known as the "cat person" or "cat people". When rescuing multiples like this, never underestimate the financial costs or emotional commitment needed to care for beloved rescues when they get old and/or sick(er). (God bless the vets and techs who worked so diligently and courageously through Covid, but I'm sure like many others we found going through the pandemic with elderly or sick rescues and dealing with all of the special office restrictions about not being able to go inside with the animals made everything that much worse.)
vets not a problem. it's what you do when they're gone. I'm grieving 3 cats that passed in one year unfortunately but honestly I still feel like I'm grieving one who passed 5 years ago and even ones that are still alive and well now. just because they're getting old, anything can happen and also it's inevitable. I have a lot more heartache to come. but gotta cherish the present.
We all know that just like any other subscription and membership, they’re going to go above and beyond to make the canceling process a nightmare so that you just give up and live with it.
My stray I’ve had for 3+ years came and woke me early that there was a new kitty in the backyard. He never liked other cats and would get a big tail and be quite aggressive so I tapped on the window thinking that the cat would run off out of our yard. Instead, the cat came running to the back door. I opened it a little thinking my cat was going to get territorial. Instead, they started kissing noses and I let the other kitty in just to check him out and make sure he was OK …well that was a year and a half ago. I went and had him checked for a chip and neutered him, and he became my cats cat. 😂 it’s like they send out a bat signal: Hey, this is a great place. These suckers will take in all kitties and feed us tuna!

Welcome, we have 10 inside cats and I had 14 ferals fixed, 11 stayed, and 3 didn't appreciate the fix and left. We thought our membership was canceled after that, but 2 years later, 2 young females have been showing up at night time.
I took down the (apparent) neon sign over my house when I got to 7 rescues. I've fulfilled my subscription requirement! I did find homes for several that I fed, provided outdoor shelter but didn't bring in. I feel your pain.
I once had up to 8 cats so I know the feeling. Through attrition due to old age and health issues I am now down to 3 but still feed 2 more strays (probably the neighbor's cats) outside everyday.
I have a 3-cat limit. At that point you're running two litter boxes, changing those on constant rotation. This violates that rule, but I can't say I hate it. 😂
Oh those of us who rescue domestic (read as pet) animals certainly bloody know about it. We juggle our own household bills, the bills for the vet (including the speying animals that adult “children” ‘have to have’ and then can’t/won’t be responsible for), plus the animal’s food, and our own…and don’t even think about having a holiday without budgeting another couple of grand for a cattery.
When they know the address they send out the message. I dont know how but it happens. I didn't want a cat and eight years ago one showed up and then six months later another one and four months later two showed up and finally three years ago I dragged a little female to get her fixed and she moved in the next day. She is sleeping right now on my dining room table. All fixed and fed and loved. Please remove me from the list!
Lol, I now your pain! Every time a cat gets ready to die, two more show up out of the woods. So far, every single one shows up with medical problems... diabetes, hernia, enlarged heart, congenital respiratory problems, etc., etc. I swear they know who will take them in!!!!

We bring them in, get them healthy, get them their shots, get them fixed and fattened up and find homes for them. But it’s exhausting. It’s expensive. People need to take care of their own cats. We got four of our own. Don’t need any more cats.
Been there done that. I think part of the problem is that you get a rep with neighbors for being their pet problem solver when you become known as the "cat person" or "cat people". When rescuing multiples like this, never underestimate the financial costs or emotional commitment needed to care for beloved rescues when they get old and/or sick(er). (God bless the vets and techs who worked so diligently and courageously through Covid, but I'm sure like many others we found going through the pandemic with elderly or sick rescues and dealing with all of the special office restrictions about not being able to go inside with the animals made everything that much worse.)
vets not a problem. it's what you do when they're gone. I'm grieving 3 cats that passed in one year unfortunately but honestly I still feel like I'm grieving one who passed 5 years ago and even ones that are still alive and well now. just because they're getting old, anything can happen and also it's inevitable. I have a lot more heartache to come. but gotta cherish the present.

My stray I’ve had for 3+ years came and woke me early that there was a new kitty in the backyard. He never liked other cats and would get a big tail and be quite aggressive so I tapped on the window thinking that the cat would run off out of our yard. Instead, the cat came running to the back door. I opened it a little thinking my cat was going to get territorial. Instead, they started kissing noses and I let the other kitty in just to check him out and make sure he was OK …well that was a year and a half ago. I went and had him checked for a chip and neutered him, and he became my cats cat. 😂 it’s like they send out a bat signal: Hey, this is a great place. These suckers will take in all kitties and feed us tuna!

Welcome, we have 10 inside cats and I had 14 ferals fixed, 11 stayed, and 3 didn't appreciate the fix and left. We thought our membership was canceled after that, but 2 years later, 2 young females have been showing up at night time.

I took down the (apparent) neon sign over my house when I got to 7 rescues. I've fulfilled my subscription requirement! I did find homes for several that I fed, provided outdoor shelter but didn't bring in. I feel your pain.

so glad that I lived in a HOA neighborhood.... each house is only allowed a maximum of 4 pets.(any combination of cats, cats, cats or cats)
HOA cannot control inside cat quantities as long as your fur babies are healthy & in a clean home.

I once had up to 8 cats so I know the feeling. Through attrition due to old age and health issues I am now down to 3 but still feed 2 more strays (probably the neighbor's cats) outside everyday.

I have a 3-cat limit. At that point you're running two litter boxes, changing those on constant rotation. This violates that rule, but I can't say I hate it. 😂

Oh those of us who rescue domestic (read as pet) animals certainly bloody know about it. We juggle our own household bills, the bills for the vet (including the speying animals that adult “children” ‘have to have’ and then can’t/won’t be responsible for), plus the animal’s food, and our own…and don’t even think about having a holiday without budgeting another couple of grand for a cattery.

When they know the address they send out the message. I dont know how but it happens. I didn't want a cat and eight years ago one showed up and then six months later another one and four months later two showed up and finally three years ago I dragged a little female to get her fixed and she moved in the next day. She is sleeping right now on my dining room table. All fixed and fed and loved. Please remove me from the list!

Lol, I now your pain! Every time a cat gets ready to die, two more show up out of the woods. So far, every single one shows up with medical problems... diabetes, hernia, enlarged heart, congenital respiratory problems, etc., etc. I swear they know who will take them in!!!!
