It's unfortunately the same residents in the community who make the mess.

I’ve been out during cleanups and watched construction workers and others with trucks full of stuff - looking surprised when they realized they couldn’t dump their crap there because we were out there cleaning it up!

Trust me, you see that new construction in the back behind that man and woman speaking, they are going to take 5th Ward now and call it something else. It will start being cleaned up and once they do, more and more new construction will appear and the residents that have been there for 30 years will be gone.

When people get active and vocal about protecting their communities it makes it a lot harder for other people to take.

@Buildwithbrittany I do believe that the people who are doing that illegal dumping are probably residents of that area somewhere close. The residents have to start fixing up their homes, taking the barbecue pits out of the front yard, cutting the grass, go by 2 gallons of paint instead of a rack of ribs and a fifth of crown Royal, stop by a bag of weed etc and fix up your properties. The city doesn't care if they come in and clean it up and the very next day it looks like it did before they arrived. They want all of those people gone so they can gentrify it, plain and simple.

I don’t know if every neighborhood had this but there are local dumping sites that are free for residents to dump at up to four times a month.
