Stevie was born less than a year before me. Much like SRV, I started playing guitar at very early age, for me age 10 in 1965. We had a lot of the same influences, so when Stevie hit the scene, his music was familiar to me. The secret is that for us guitar players in the late 60’s early 70’s, word got around that if you wanted to get into next level blues chords, you had to get the Mickey Baker Jazz Guitar Volume 1. The Lenny chords are major 6 straight from the Mickey Baker book. Riviera Paradise, Superstitious, Walking the Tightrope, he’s using chords from Mickey Baker. I played guitar in my school jazz band in the early 70’s and the Baker book was my bible. First time I heard Lenny, I could play it in five minutes. It’s just a Mickey Baker major 6 moving up and down.
This was an awesome analysis right there, man. You're pointing out some really important stuff here, like no one before, please do more stuff like this! This truly is an awesome lesson. Really like how you're nailing all the Jimi influenced moments.
Wish I could get that "sting" that comes across on his B string 7h9 vibrato during the main riff. Something so simple yet so hard to duplicate like him.
None taken. In all the vids i do, i always push the fact that they arent note for note. Its impossible to express it the way he did. Its just to help get ya there. As far as the chord, it falls in the same There were so many takes. So many bootlegs and so much improv. Playing a snippet of Riv Paradise into it was just fun. Appreciate you checking out the video and letting me know

I never tire of this kind of soulful playing....sweet sounds indeed!
Your tone on this is wicked-- reminds me of the Out of the Shadows boot

Great playing man!!!! I saw you mentioned you have the volume rolled down. Is this your clean time into the amp or is your tube screamer on as well?
Just beautiful chords. I don't think I'll ever get over the loss of these two titans of guitar. :(
What amp were you using here btw?
My signature amp from Custom by Cougar
I know it’s a lot of work but if you could tab these licks. Put them on Patreon.
It’s OK to know the names of chords! 😝🤘🏻🎸🇺🇸
Haha. Thanks!
6ths, myxo?
I mean no disrespect.

You’re playing the first chord wrong.
It's a wonderful sound Nik, but why call it "lenny" it has nothing to do with lenny tones...cheers
Its not a tone vid
He's literally playing Lenny lol
@theriffwniksevigny5473 oh ok, just misunderstood.
