    Excellent video!
    Consider that urbanites now, for example in New York and Amsterdam, super rarely leave city limit, or even Manhattan and the old canal belt center. When expats living in Amsterdam leave the city, it's on a train or taxi to the airport. In either, is car ownership very common with "normal" people? Having all of NEOM to explore by train is probably nice enough for knowledge migrant expats, which is a target audience for NEOM. If just a fraction of Saudis are tired of living near their families, NEOM seems a logical place to go. Like being a born Monegask in Monaco, or a born Emirati in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

    • @gigaprojects
      @gigaprojects  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The area of Saudi Arabia is equivalent to the whole Western (Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.) and Central Europe (Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Romania). Until MBS petrol was cheap and public transport was something for pilgrims and douche bags. This has all changed, but considering the size of the country they have a long way to go.
      Just consider the old joke, a Saudi and an Emirati buy car ... The Saudi buys a Toyota (because he's not that rich) and drives it like a Ferrari and the Emirati buys a Ferrari but drives it like a Toyota (because the country is so small)...

    350 kph trains...France has had 300+ kph ones since the early 1980s. Not sure how long acceleration takes, but French and German trains are quite OK at reaching 350 kph nowadays. Doing it underground is a bit trickier, it could be noisy, and noticeable a lot of floors up.

    The total length vs module discrepancy...might some of the mountain sections be a lot longer, to be a similar size project? If the average height is only 100 meters or less, it could be a few kilometers in stead of a standard 800. And it makes sense, to cross the mountains with as few chances for hiccups as possible.
    Little trams on rubber wheels...indoors that might be very dusty, like in large auction buildings.

I think we make a pretty compelling argument that if Saudi Arabia doesn’t deliver the Line, that they will lose all of their reputation, so they have to deliver, they have to build this. You’re completely right, Neom is way over budget AND behind schedule. And for this reason MBS fired half of the Neom Management.

    Huge glass buildings are like a death star for everything near them. Even mirrored buildings in London can melt cars under the right circumstances. Imagine what the sun can do where they want to build the line.
    And flying cars mean flying car crashes. Not a question of IF but of WHEN and HOW OFTEN. And each of these electric flying cars will carry an immense amount of combustible power. Have fun keeping the line from burning down.

    17:00 this may be racist but i think Saudis will love it! It's a chance to live in air conditioning 24/7! Middle East is hot as balls. Plus the other benefits of creating your own climate: forests and parks etc rather than arid desert. It's win win. They feel like they're on par with Europe or usa or something in terms of climate, they live in a super modern designed city with all the conveniences, and they have super high speed access to a port and a ski resort. Plus they have one of the most interesting buildings and tourist attraction on the planet...

    • @EridanusYT
      @EridanusYT 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      As a Saudi myself I just wanted to state that Saudi had air conditioning 24/7 since decades now maybe since the 40s or 50s and power in here is top notch and never goes away at least everywhere where I lived in Saudi (aka each city and town I visited) even malls and any building would have that even at the entrance door so it's nothing that we seek or gonna enjoy for the first time with all respect. The other thing Saudi already got places that has great nature and climte and looks like some areas in EU or mostly tourist sights in South Asia with green mountaints that reaches the clouds and rain almost all over the year and even native pink trees that looks like the Japanese Sakura just look up (Abha) for example and I been there many times they don't even use ACs cause it's cold all around the year even in the prime of summer and it's been attracting people not from Saudi only but from other countries in the region since at least 30 years ago and it has sights that you don't even find in countries used to be a tourist countries in this region like Lebanon and Syria or even Egypt even tho they got amazing stuff going on for them too, and (Abha) isn't the only places in Saudi with amazing climte or diversity the only issue is that we been a closted country for tourist and we've been focusing on cities and understructure we never gave those amazing places the time or effort to turn them into their maxmimum potentioal yet and make them known worlwide and sadly even that there's truth in every stereotype but when it coems to Saudi people have this harsh stereotypical vision that we're all desert all over and such unliveable place etc. keep in mind Saudi is at least 500x bigger than Dubai and we got more climte and geo diversity that Dubai and look how wasily they managed to make Dubai one of the top 3 places for tourist attractions not imagine Dubai 500x bigger and much more diversity and much more money to start with and you got yourself Saudi Arabia my friend.

    Most parts of the Neom project might be viable in some way, but I don't believe the Line will work. The issue isn’t about construction-it’s about making a city like this functional and livable. Its design feels unnatural and unfit for human life

    سيدي وكما تعلمون فإن من خير الأدلة على أن هنالك سننا اولى من هذه المظاهر التي عكف بعض الناس عليها: ان من اهم ما كان يميز رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في الظاهر عن اي احد من المشركين هي امور خُلُقية وخَلقية ..
    اما الخَلْقية فلا سبيل لاكتسابها..
    واما الخُلُقية فإنها تُكتسب بالتحلم والتصبر وما الى هنالك ..
    واما المظاهر الاخرى فإنها لم تكن مميزة لشخص النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم
    فقد كان من المشركين من يطيل لحيته .. ومن يعتني بنظافته وعطره .. بل وكان كلهم يغطي رأسه ..
    فلابد لسلم الأولويات الا يكون مقلوبا .. فقد كان الناس ولا زالوا يدخلون الإسلام بسبب خُلُقيات يرونها من المسلمين هنا او هناك .. لا بسبب مظاهر يشاركهم فيها اي احد
