I knitted and crochet with wild abandonment as a young mother and when my 11 yr granddaughter wanted to learn I picked up my néedles again and was delighted to hear her say “look grandma, I’m making material”. Now we knit together on road trips l love your videos. Thankyou

I’ve been knitting since I was 14! I started learning on bamboo chopsticks when I was working at a cashier at a consignment shop. There was a lot of down time and not a lot I could do, but I had chopsticks and I had yarn. Now it’s one of my favourite hobbies! I’m currently working on a sweater for myself and a pair of mittens for an Etsy customer :)

I also love your honesty, sweetness and your style from how you design your projects to how you wear them. I really appreciate you taking the time for knitters who are beginning or just less advanced. It’s very helpful and encouraging. Lastly. I haven’t come across a video of yours that specifically discusses how to pair different yarns/ yarn weights. That has opened up a whole new perspective of knit inspiration and would be extremely helpful as I consider future projects and how to use the abundance of yarn in my current stash. I learned the basic knit and purl from my mother when I was about five years old. However, I never knitted any clothing until just five years ago (I am now 63 years old). I always thought knitting clothing looked too complicated. But my sister showed me how to knit a hat with a circular needle. After I made the hat, I was hooked, and I could kick myself for not knitting earlier. I have since knitted several pieces of clothing including a fisherman's sweater. I'm most proud of it; I gifted it to my daughter for Christmas. I'm always interested in learning more about knitting techniques, methods, etc., so I watch knitting tutorials on TH-cam a lot. I came across your tutorial for the Arctic Light Sweater, and I loved the pattern so I purchased it. I will definitely be watching the full tutorial because there are some stitches that are new to me. I'm so excited to start this pattern!
My mother knitted. I inherited her needles and would love to make something with them. I do crochet but find knitting a bit more challenging. Thank you for doing these videos.

I found your charming channel and have been delighted to listen to you and watch you work! I would like to begin again at a young 70! I began knitting when I was about 10….golf club covers for my father on 3 small needles! I use my right hand to hold the yarn….not elegantly over either finger like European knitters…😢 and, it causes tension problems. So, I am going back to the beginning with you, Kika to try and correct these issues and to see if you can teach an ‘old dog new tricks’!❤😂
I finished this project! My first knit project! Though I have to say, if anyone struggles with it, try first knitting a bunch on thicker yarn. I found the thinner cotton with bigger needles frustrating at first but when I started a second scarf project on bigger needles and bigger yarn and got the hang of the knit stitch, coming back to this was a lot easier. Thanks for the tutorial!

Very new to knitting. I DID have very very basic little knowledge amound CROCHET though from my mother when i was a child but she had also long forgotten the skill later on. When I was in college, one day i just grabbed some wool at home which we had for school projects and used palm leaf sticks to craft a and alternative for needles coz i didnt have enough to spend on those. It was kinda hard to use it and the yarn would often get caught on it coz i couldnt make it that good. But i still managed to finished a hat for my then 4 year old niece and felt really proud of it. I took me 3 months to finish beacuse working on that was pretty hard as anyone could predict, plus had classes and exams to deal with. That was my first and last knit work i did. But after getting my job i have been CROTCHETING for around 4 years now. I usually make bags and i have never bough a bag ever since i started crotcheing, i only use my self made bags and even manged to sell some. These days i have been interested in KNITTING again, more specifically socks. I WOULD LOVE TO KNIT SOME AND GIFT THEM TO MY FRIENDS /COLLEAGUES, But have no idea how to do it ANYMORE. So here i am surfing youtube for guidance😅. Once i get the hang of it its my goal to knit a swaeter or cardigan.

I’ve tried knitting quite a few times from different videos but I couldn’t ever seem to get the first part and cast on. It took a few tries but I was able to learn through your video! My stitches are looking not so great right now but I’m sure if I stick with it and keep practicing, it will get better and better just like when I learned how to crochet! Also, I know how to crochet and it kind of made learning to knit even harder because I couldn't grab the yarn without a hook, the needle was too straight and the yarn was falling 😂😂😂 . Now when I saw your video I want to try again, this time with wooden needels :)
I've knitted years ago before my son...and knitted him a few very simples and easy caps. But I stopped because I felt it was so exacts on numbers and mistake was hard for me to get undone. So I've switched over to crochet to make and design "amigurumi" dolls. I've picked up crochet again (during the lock-down years, of course). But I have managed to stay with it, but I do miss knitting. :-) Glad that you're are doing this. California is too warm for sweaters, but I enjoy watching hand made garments

My "knit status" is I would say intermediate. I have 3 projects going right now (2 cardigans and a pair of socks). Where I fall short in knitting is things like complicated color work and lace patterns. I've done some simple lace patterns and two tone color work though.
It's amazing everything that you do. I'm thinking to try out knitting.. Usually I Crochet, and when I see knitting and all fun stuff I want to learn it. But.... I don't know why it's so so so hard.. 🙈 For a person who crochet 21 year its super hard to hold those needs. Wish me luck..

Kika, this video is so amazing! First of all, if you don't tell I'd never know "Kotova" means "knitting"! It's so nice to know new words (and discover Finish!). Second, here in Brazil, we measure the needles as you do in Europe. :) As I told you on Instagram, here in Brazil circular knitting is not popular, so I don't know how to use circular needles or double point needles (but I know the stiches and how to use the other needles). I am SO excited to knit with you! :D

I’ve been knitting since I was a teenager. I can make basic sweaters. My weak point is to plan for the size. My creations are mostly ended up too big. Also, I find it difficult to make perfect underarm shapes. Would like to learn more about it. Thanks Kika ❤️
Ah yes I’ve also had the problem with sizing and the knits turning out too big, I think it’s often due to knits growing slightly in siz e when you wear them due to the elastic nature of knitted fabric. I’ll definitelt make a video with some tips for this and what I’ve gound helpful 😃

Yes more advanced stuff is definitely coming up, and I also thought about making some videos with some particualr tips or preferences I've gatehred over the years that relate mostly to designing your own knitewear, thought that could be nice and maybe valuable to share in a video. I found your charming channel and have been delighted to listen to you and watch you work! I would like to begin again at a young 70! I began knitting when I was about 10….golf club covers for my father on 3 small needles! I use my right hand to hold the yarn….not elegantly over either finger like European knitters…😢 and, it causes tension problems. So, I am going back to the beginning with you, Kika to try and correct these issues and to see if you can teach an ‘old dog new tricks’!❤😂
I finished this project! My first knit project! Though I have to say, if anyone struggles with it, try first knitting a bunch on thicker yarn. I found the thinner cotton with bigger needles frustrating at first but when I started a second scarf project on bigger needles and bigger yarn and got the hang of the knit stitch, coming back to this was a lot easier. Thanks for the tutorial!
I tried to teach myself years ago but never finished the project. I’m so excited about this series because you make it so clear on “how to” that I may actually be able to finish that project. Thank you!

Very new to knitting. I DID have very very basic little knowledge amound CROCHET though from my mother when i was a child but she had also long forgotten the skill later on. When I was in college, one day i just grabbed some wool at home which we had for school projects and used palm leaf sticks to craft a and alternative for needles coz i didnt have enough to spend on those. It was kinda hard to use it and the yarn would often get caught on it coz i couldnt make it that good. But i still managed to finished a hat for my then 4 year old niece and felt really proud of it. I took me 3 months to finish beacuse working on that was pretty hard as anyone could predict, plus had classes and exams to deal with. That was my first and last knit work i did. But after getting my job i have been CROTCHETING for around 4 years now. I usually make bags and i have never bough a bag ever since i started crotcheing, i only use my self made bags and even manged to sell some. These days i have been interested in KNITTING again, more specifically socks. I WOULD LOVE TO KNIT SOME AND GIFT THEM TO MY FRIENDS /COLLEAGUES, But have no idea how to do it ANYMORE. So here i am surfing youtube for guidance😅. Once i get the hang of it its my goal to knit a swaeter or cardigan.

I am self taught and picked it back up last year. I have been mostly knitting blankets for my kids and some scarves. I am a long term knitter taught by my mum when i was 6 I am a bit more than 60 now. I knitted a sweater for my teddy bear first and really haven't stopped knitting since.
My great-grandmother taught me how to crochet when I was 4 years old. Love it. I have always wanted to learn to knit, also, so this is great!! Can't wait to learn more!
I’m an advanced beginner I’ve knitted little baby cardigans and infinity scarves. I really want to knit a top down sweater for myself. Really love colours and soft fluffy yarns you use in some of your sweaters.

I’ve tried knitting quite a few times from different videos but I couldn’t ever seem to get the first part and cast on. It took a few tries but I was able to learn through your video! My stitches are looking not so great right now but I’m sure if I stick with it and keep practicing, it will get better and better just like when I learned how to crochet! I'm really excited for knitting with you! 🐑🧶 I've tried to learn once before from my grandma. I tried on steel needles but it was hard. Also, I know how to crochet and it kind of made learning to knit even harder because I couldn't grab the yarn without a hook, the needle was too straight and the yarn was falling 😂😂😂 . Now when I saw your video I want to try again, this time with wooden needels :)
I've knitted years ago before my son...and knitted him a few very simples and easy caps. But I stopped because I felt it was so exacts on numbers and mistake was hard for me to get undone. So I've switched over to crochet to make and design "amigurumi" dolls. I've picked up crochet again (during the lock-down years, of course). But I have managed to stay with it, but I do miss knitting. :-) Glad that you're are doing this. California is too warm for sweaters, but I enjoy watching hand made garments

Can you teach us knit some nice winter basics? Hat, gloves and shawl with some nice pattern? I love to give home made gifts for christmas and this would be amaaaazing😍
My "knit status" is I would say intermediate. I have 3 projects going right now (2 cardigans and a pair of socks). Where I fall short in knitting is things like complicated color work and lace patterns. I've done some simple lace patterns and two tone color work though.
It's amazing everything that you do. I'm thinking to try out knitting.. Usually I Crochet, and when I see knitting and all fun stuff I want to learn it. But.... I don't know why it's so so so hard.. 🙈 For a person who crochet 21 year its super hard to hold those needs. Wish me luck..

Second, here in Brazil, we measure the needles as you do in Europe. :)
As I told you on Instagram, here in Brazil circular knitting is not popular, so I don't know how to use circular needles or double point needles (but I know the stiches and how to use the other needles).

I’ve been knitting since I was a teenager. I can make basic sweaters. My weak point is to plan for the size. My creations are mostly ended up too big. Also, I find it difficult to make perfect underarm shapes. Would like to learn more about it. Thanks Kika ❤️
Ah yes I’ve also had the problem with sizing and the knits turning out too big, I think it’s often due to knits growing slightly in siz e when you wear them due to the elastic nature of knitted fabric. I’ll definitelt make a video with some tips for this and what I’ve gound helpful 😃
