I was considering the Ekster box style wallet when I was looking for a minimalist wallet. I agree that the price point is a bit high. I believe the cards are held in either by felt or a plate or both, which are subject to wear. I'm curious how good the longevity is with that style of wallet. I tend to like my card holder style wallet.

Essentially you'll be rolling up bills in a rubber band and keeping them on the outside of that thing, NO THANKS. Get an RFID card and buy a nice leather wallet.
I believe this all comes down to preference, and this type of wallet would never be my preference. My bill fold has always been a piece of leather and it always will be. I'm not on board with the aluminum wallet trend. I'm already carrying a smartphone in one of my pockets, and I like having a soft leather wallet to lay flat against it, without worrying about scratching my phone, and so I can carry my phone and wallet in the same pocket pretty comfortably, but this is not my strongest argument against these aluminum wallets.
If you buy a fine enough leather bill fold, you'll never need to worry about it wearing out or a mechanism malfunctioning on you. If minimalism is what you are after, then why not just carry less cards? I do not promote the idea of carrying upwards of 25 different credit cards and miscellaneous cards at any given time. What happens if you lose the wallet or get robbed? Do you really want to go through the nightmare of having to cancel 20 credit cards? If I was a truck driver or someone working in a profession where I had to carry this many cards I'd want something much larger, in leather, to do that job. The bigger the piece, the more sight I have of it, and the harder it would be for me to miss it.
In time a leather bill fold will develop character, becoming better with age. Aluminum will scratch, the mechanism will some day wear out, and you'll have an ugly uncomfortable piece of metal in your pocket. I would not invest in this.
Thanks for letting me speak my piece here, you have a great channel!
