    A very nicely done video! Very good camera angles and lighting; it was very easy to see what do were doing and to follow along. I have found that it's often easier to clean the rust and debris from the caliper mounting brackets if you remove them from the steering knuckle first. The rotor is out of the way, and it's easy to use a square file or caliper file to remove the rust. Applying a good brake parts grease to the mounting bracket under the abutment clips will also help to slow the accumulation of new rust. Lastly, it's also a good idea to always remove, clean, inspect, and relubricate the caliper slide pins with a silicone-based grease during a brake job. Sticky or frozen slide pins are a primary reason for uneven brake wear and reduced brake pad life.

      Thanks for the comments. I'm doing the slide pin lubrication as a separate video.

    Ive got a large old warn pad reset screwdriver to just pry the pads apart before removal , suitably adorned in copious anounts of duct tape for disc protection ,
    I'm a Northern tight arse and hate fiddly tools but hey , thats me, Nice to see the K12 getting more love !!!
    Is it a project car as it seems to have been sat a while with those Spidey Webs ?

    Nice. I think I'll just do it myself although I haven't got one of those tools that presses the piston back in. Is there something else that can do the job?

      Thanks. If it's the front brakes you could use this method: th-cam.com/video/E6iso9mVi8g/w-d-xo.html

      If it's the rear brakes, the pistons need to be rotated as they're pushed in

    good vid ... as i mainly work on motorcycle, i always use brake cleaner on the pistons ,and give them a good clean also is this advisable in this situation on a car

    hi, put new brake pads in, its touch the brake disc? but it should not touch, it grinds always.

    • @screwsnutsandbolts
      @screwsnutsandbolts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Is the backing plate rubbing off the disc ?. It could have been bent slightly when you were taking the wheel off. Check this video: th-cam.com/video/uwIZTwFoI0U/w-d-xo.html
