Underrated guitarist! For those who know rock guitar play, Alex is among the great innovators and improvisers in the business. As for the band, it os simple: they are among the greatest prog/rock bands to ever grace a stage. We shall not see their like again.

"The Weapon" live. Different kind of song but a cool video when they were in their prime.
Granola won't get you healthy. You need to break the sugar/carb addiction we all have.
    Go carnivore.
Even if u can't do it long term, it's a great elimination diet. It's so effective that some people adopt it as a lifestyle. (I have, for the most part).
It's only food that comes from animals; beef, lamb, eggs, butter, dairy, fish, sea food, bacon and pure sea salt. Chicken is fine but it's too lean. Without the fat, I get hungry within 3 or 4 hours (like when I eat the standard American diet).
I eat fatty ground beef everyday. Usually 1 pound of ground beef in the morning and same in the evening.
Breakfast will be 3/4 pound of fatty ground beef topped with 3 or 4 eggs. If I'm not hungry in the morning, I'll fry the beef then add 5 or 6 eggs till cooked and take it to work, eat it when I'm hungry.
Dinner will be 1 pound of fatty ground beef, 2 or 3 slices of SUGAR FREE bacon and cheddar cheese.
Sometimes I'll eat salmon as a side dish and I snack on Sardines in water and plain, sugar free yogurt.
I realize it sounds boring or restrictive but is it more restrictive than a lifetime of obesity, diabetes, insulin and statins? Feeling like crap everyday, all day? Coronary heart disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, altzheimers and cancer have tripled since 1970 and it's because of sugar and UNSATURATED fat from vegetable oils (seed oils).
The saturated fat in animal products has all the essential nutrients along with the best protein and it makes things taste good without using sugar. It also keeps you satiated for a very long time. You won't get hungry for many hours (carnivores typically eat 2 meals per day) and cravings for junk food will go down.
Of course, rib eye steaks would also be ideal but they do cost more so I stick to FATTY ground beef.
Watch some YT videos from the carnivore community. Plant free MD, Dr. Ken Berry, Dr. Shawn Baker, Dr. Paul Mason, "Low Carb Down Under" and so many more. If you want to avoid the costs associated with poor health, learn what this is about. These doctors and scientists are prescribing Rib Eye steaks for optimal health while our conventional doctors are putting us prescription medicines for the rest of our lives.
I chose rib eyes (well, ground beef!).

The first part of the song is in Morse Code.
Alex Lifeson (the guitarist is also a licensed pilot and was flying them back to Toronto and the code came on. It stuck with Neil and Geddy. Yes, Alex is a beast on guitar and has a chord named after him.
There were 40,000 people at this concert. Other songs

You'll get a lot of recommendations, but I would pick one more live one, Freewill from the Time Machine Tour (2011). The song was on 1980's Permanent Waves and they rock it in 2011. The studio version is awesome too, but the breakdown in the middle is madness and chaos. If you want to hear something 'heavy' by them, try Stick it Out or Headlong Flight (or even Driven). I don't know if you really realize it, but this rabbit hole is really really deep. 19 studio albums and very few 'misses'.

YYZ is the call sign for Toronto-Pearson International Airport. Alex Lifeson, the guitar player, is a pilot. One time they were in a plane and Alex was flying it. All controlled airports have a three letter call sign. Like LAX, ATL, JFK and so on. They transmit this call sign in morse code for transponders in airplanes to recognize. Neil heard this and he and Geddy thought it would be a neat idea for a song. The beginning is the musical representation for YYZ in morse code. Hence, the song became what it is and appeared on 1981's. Moving Pictures. It was played all over the radio, too.

These guys will practice for a few months on their own before they get together and practice for another few months before they set out on tour.
Natural Science, Freewill, Farewell to Kings, Limelight. Once you get past Moving Pictures, the music "changes." If you check out that era? Definitely pull up the lyrics because imo the songs become more lyrically driven. It's a big shift in their sound, and quite a few followers moved on from the band due to this change. Songs that I dig during this time.
Subdivisions, Losing It, Time Stand Still, Mystic Rythms.

Check out “By-Tor and The Snow Dog” Live Exit Stage Left Tour for wild guitar playing! I’ve been a RUSH fan since 1974 when I saw them open for KISS. Alex is the best! I think one reason for Geddy’s bass sound is that in later years he just jacked into the venue’s PA system and that’s why you see the fun stuff he had behind him (washers, roasting chickens 🤣) as a joke going on about Alex’s stacks of amps! Actually, the crowds were larger in São Paulo, but it was in Rio where they planned to shoot the video over two nights. Technically, it wasn’t loud “in there” because this was an open air concert on the beach.
Nor did either of the two nights in São Paulo even have the largest crowds before which Rush ever played. Their Brazil shows were only the largest in which Rush was the headliner.
Back on July 30th, 2003 a crowd estimated at over 450,000 (of which I was one) watched Rush play a handful of songs in their home town of Toronto, but the two groups ahead of them on the bill were AC/DC and the Rolling Stones. It was a charity concert, organized in the wake of a deadly outbreak of a respiratory virus called SARS-COVID-1. That one came from China too. It was likely more deadly but more difficult to transmit, but it still shut down two of the world’s major cities (Toronto and Hong Kong).
Anyway, the Stones had a long history with Toronto (which they used as the staging ground for most North American tours) and they had been touring with AC/DC at the time anyway, which is how they wound up headlining what became a day-long concert. Actually, there was one act wedged in between Rush and AC/DC: Justin Timberlake. The poor guy had to dodge many projectiles tossed at him from an increasingly rowdy crowd, so it got a little ugly. Mick later had Justin appear with the Stones to sing a song or two with them, with Keith Richards having once admonished some of the trouble makers who apparently resented Justin’s presence there.
I should mention two more points here:
    1. The nigh portion of the concert was led off by legendary Canadian rockers, Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman (who gave the world many hits as the Guess Whoo and BTO in the late sixties and seventies.
    2. There’s a video of the concert.
So, I’m going to recommend that you listen to Rush playing Spirit of Radio at the “Concert for Toronto.” Just enter those key words, as well as “SARS” and you’ll find lots of links to the performance. TH-camr Stickhits has probably published an upscale version, so maybe add his name to your search terms too.

My approach to healthy eating for successful weight management is completely different than that mentioned above. I've maintained a healthy body weight for the past 20 years on a whole-foods vegan diet, which excludes anything that comes from an animal, and almost all packaged foods which are loaded with added sugar, salt, and fat in order to make us crave more. Naturally occurring carbs found in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes are the body's preferred source of energy, and when eaten as close as possible to their natural state, they come packaged with fiber and essential nutrients, which keeps you satiated for hours; and a well-planned, varied diet will ensure adequate protein intake from sources like beans, nuts, and whole soy foods, whose prices have remained relatively stable while prices of animal proteins like beef, poultry, and eggs have skyrocketed. If you set aside what social media influencers are pushing, and take a close look at what health professionals are recommending, you'll see that they mainly recommend that we move towards more of a plant-based diet to manage our weight and lower our risk of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. And you don't need to make the switch all at once - it took me six months; just start by going vegetarian for one meal per day, one day per week, or every day up until 6 PM, and you can look forward to a wide variety of tasty plant-based recipes, better health, and less of a strain on your pocketbook. While you're looking into that, if you'd like to see another "holy $#!t" performance, featuring some of Neil's best drumming, I recommend ByTor and the SnowDog/In The End/In The Mood/2112 Grand Finale from Exit Stage Left. Cheers from Canada! 🇨🇦

Alex Lifeson is not at all underrated, Gibson even created a special edition Les Paul guitar named after him.

Alex has to be one of the most underrated guitarist. He's as much of rush as Geddy and Neil.

How he got that sound of the bass? Geddy hitting the strings as hard as possible using his fingernails.

Three musicians at the top of their game. I saw them 35 times in concert, never left one disappointed.
Rush has been my favorite since 1981, and my three people.
My thoughts are with you, I’m Type 2 diabetic, lots of on going issues due to high blood sugars.
I’m going to a blander meal time regiment. Chicken, veggies. Only get fast food as a treat like it was back in the day.
