  • This is my own method of caring and breeding hamsters. There are tons of ways how to breed and take care of their pups. You can follow whatever methods that suit your style, as long as the hamster/pet is safe. You can comment down if you have suggestions or tips to share. These are my roborovski (pied) hamsters. Happy Pet Keeping!

    That mother looked to be really bored. I would recommend you put in more bedding material for her to burrow in and a few natural toys and hides for her to play in and for the pups to go in. I would also get a bigger cage and after a couple of weeks of birth, putting a wheel in. That would really help. All that pacing you see in the video can indicate high levels of stress and the deep litter, toys and wheel would help counteract that. As would the bigger cage. Just a few thoughts, but the babies look great xx

    Hey isnt those spaces small for your animals? Not an expert though.

    • @thekbs7854
      @thekbs7854 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      yes, thank you for your concern. this space is small. this is an unintended pregnancy. I put her in a small cage so she won't be distracted when giving birth and will only focus on her pups. she may hurt herself if she was in a large cage with some obstacles. she and her pups were transferred to much larger cage after a month and two weeks separately.

      yes, it is a small space for her but in my case, i prefer this each time we have a hamster that got pregnant by accident. I can monitor her health and she can also prevent hurting herself in bigger bins.

    my hamster is pregnant and we thought the was giving birth cuz she got really big her nipples were visible and she was bleeding a bit in her nest but then she didn't give birth and just went to sleep and this was a few hours ago and still no pups do you know what I should do I googled it and nothing helpful I'm getting worried now do you have any tips?

    • @martinihousepets4286
      @martinihousepets4286  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      she's maybe stressed. Make sure to separate her from others, place her in an area where she won't be distracted. Only go near her cage to feed her, or refill the water bottle. leave her alone until she delivers her pups. make sure to also feed her vegies. she will naturally give birth. one reason that she's bleeding in her nest is when she's stressed. I recommend to place her cage in an area where she can have some privacy. also avoid checking on her too frequently (unless feeding). She'll be fine :)

    • @martinihousepets4286
      @martinihousepets4286  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it is still possible. I don't usually recommend breeding but in case your robo is pregnant, separate her from others. Her beddings must be clean. Make sure she isn't disturbed. Only come to her when feeding or giving her water. Don't touch the pups too. It can be stressful to her and may end up not taking care of her pups. I know she'll be successful next time :)

      @martinihousepets4286  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am sorry to hear that. Do not touch the last pups. Feed the mother hamster with vegetables. also, do not go near them. It will stress the mother out and will probably eat the pups or ignore them. Always check if she has a good water supply. If the beddings are narrow, cover their bin/cage where the mother won't be distracted. Hopefully, the pups will be able to make it.

    My hamster gave birth to 5 pups..1 died in birth...2 she ate later..and after 9 weeks other 2 also died today..I m feeling sad...now I got the reasons..small cage for mother may be the reason..or not proper bedding....can you help me with the material you used for bedding? Now I kept male and female again on same but big cage...

    • @martinihousepets4286
      @martinihousepets4286  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry to hear that. I use aspen beddings. Yes, small cage may be one of the reasons. You may also consider the environment. The cage must be put to less noice or where the mother won't be disturbed. Food and water must also be availablr at all times. Mother hamsters will most likely abandon weaker youngs to save some energy for pups that have higher survival rate.

    I am a hobby breeder of Syrians and at the moment I have a female Syrian that should give birth but she doesn't, so its very stressful. I dont understand but maybe there is something wrong inside of her that the babies can't come out as easily, so I need to go to the vets to see what they can do.

    • @martinihousepets4286
      @martinihousepets4286  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry to hear that. One main reason is the mother may be in distress. Natural instinct, though harsh, they will most likely abandon a pup that they think won't survive to conserve milk to other pups who has bigger chance to survive. What you can do is to have the mother plenty of food, veggies and best if you put their cage where they won't get disturbed.
