Simon,I am no expert but must say this episode is up there in excellence with Delos, Wynn, Lavag, and Nahoa. Really exceptional! Can't wait to see you sail her, properly rigged!

Wonderful boat, I had an old beat up like yours 40 years ago. Get a trapeze and someone to sail with, that's where the fun begins.

All hail Champ! I miss 4 legged Champ so much! I have been watching you since you were in the van with him! I live in my own van now (for 3 years) and you were one of the inspirations for that. I have no interest in sailing myself but I watch all your videos still because I am always interested in what you are doing. Keep following your dreams!

Seeing you hand paint the lettering reminded me of my artist and signwriting grandfather.
FWIW, Brian from SV Delos recently cleaned rust colours stains from their hull and tried oxalic acid and a number of other cleaners. The one that worked was Permatex Rust Dissolver Gel that contains phosphoric acid and ethanolamine. Engineering toolbox says Polyester (Dacron) is resistant to Phosphoric Acid if that's what your sails are made from, no idea about ethanolamine.

There is something joyous about the naming ceremony and being able to share it with your friends and island family. Not to mention that feeling when the wind fills the sails and launches you forward. 😊

Amazing job on the hurricane! Fish are gonna be tipsy though. Could put some white shoe polish or paint on those rust stains

Suggestion on cleaning sail. Simon, Maybe get an old piece of sail and try spraying a clear primer on it, than spray paint it white. At least it won't stand out so much. As I said, try in on a old piece of sail and see how it works first. btw the little Catamaran looks great...

I have had the most wild sails of my life on a Tornado! They are absolutely the most exciting boat to sail on. I used to sail one with dual trapeze… amazing times!

Loved, loved this video. Congrats on the Tornado!! Great work bringing her back to life. Excellent choice of the Champ name, very fitting tribute to that sweet boy. Looks like it passed Honey's test also. All the friends helping, very cool. So happy for you. 😊👍

I have to tell you this. I'm proud of you for doing a great job. Oh course I don't know anything about sailing, but I think, by the grin on your face, you did a great job on fixing "CHAMP" up. And I believe the olè dog Champ would be happy about it to.
I miss seeing him on your videos & I know you miss him to. But he's sure would be proud of you.
    Be safe on the water,
    Chris from Missouri

Ooh! Nico press is a pain in the tail... We use it fairly extensively in Aircraft rigging and the school of thought with most aviation mechanics I've met is that you should have a little bit of a tail so you know the crimp has the proper grip strength.

I've never tried the gel version of it but may also work it isn't like CLR that has acid in it.

Oxalic acid will remove the rust stains from sails just do not leave it on to long and rinse well. I use it to remove stains from gelcoat but have seen others use it on sails with magic results. Whether it affects longevity i don't know but one old boy swears by it.

👍👌👏 Very well done! Congrats for having and learning all those skills. You definitely put a lot of effort and love into this racing catamaran. It turned out really great. Nevertheless: Unfortunately all that is distracting you from the main goal.
Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health to all of you (including Honey of course).

old time Borex [cheap too] for rust on sail....

  • @mikeskelly2356

Mmm, all that tasty seaweed. Lay it out to dry and save it for soups and salads! For rusty stains on sails I always used Oxalic acid powder dissolved in warm water. It works fast and doesn't harm the sail materiel. Like any powerful cleaning agent, use it outdoors and wear gloves, goggles and a mask. It's not that nasty, but safety comes first...Ah, I've got the same stitch breaker, but I mostly use it to de-vein shrimp! Maybe that's why my sails smell like seafood, Mmm, tasty seafood...

You give way too much prominence to really bad music on your videos. It's a shame, because otherwise, the videos are really good.

It is a lot easier to just get a Virgin to piss on the boat, If you can find one?
