    Just the tensioner when theres no oil in it on initial startup. Most of them do it after the chain stretches a bit which is normal. Any timing chain will stretch a bit over time until it stretches really bad at which rate itll rattle very loudly continuously

    I have Corsa D 1.4
    Rough idle and no check engine light, no error code. What is the problem?

    Hello,why you put 10w40 oil instead of 5w30? You had issue with idle noise engine sounds like a diesel ?

      10w40 is too thick, my engine is working good, not burning oil and no more noise apart the 3 seconds from the start. The 5w30 is good for me.

      I put some 5w30 in mine but it kept burning almost a liter of it every week. I got sick of that and let it burn a small bit for a day or 2 after a top up, then threw in about half a teacup of 80w90 gear oil. Never again did it burn a drop of oil. It didnt like the cold weather too much but after about 5 minutes of driving it seemed a little quieter than before. I drove that car for a year and a half afterwards with no oil related troubles although the rod knocks and piston slaps did return slightly. The previous owner abused it through lack of maintenance. But hey, at the time it was cheap and i needed a car. Ended up getting 2 years of driving out of it before selling

    Sounds like the distrubution chain there in the beginning

      I thought so, but I open the engine top plastic cover and check the chain by trying to pull or move it. It is rock solid, no play, can't move it. When it is cold outside below 15 celsius the noise disappear. I checked the timing chain here th-cam.com/video/4ZIbBMeKhL4/w-d-xo.html

    what was the issue? Was it the oil filter valve?

    • @CorsaDForever
      @CorsaDForever  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      After replacing the oil filter valve, the start is much quieter.
      But beware, the noise can also be caused by the wear of the hydraulic lifters that no longer hold the oil or the worn chain tensioner.

      A bit of everything in these. Hydraulic tappets, chain tensioner, general engine noises etc
