    I really like the look of the pleats much better than the usual darts.

    Cutest homemade I have ever seen. Love the 4 box pleats. I would prefer a different fabric as I do not like wrinkles, but that is merely personal preference. Also, I love the look of the buttons for the vertical eye movement, but would actually sew them up leaving just enough unsewn at the top to make for easy access. Wonderful first job on the video. Ditto to all the previous viewer comments. Best wishes for your success in this endeavor!

    Great job Casey! 😊 The joys the joys of making ones own clothes. The time and effort is always worth it when you complete a garment that you love and you know you will wear. Now as for the scotch tape hack..... I didn’t even know machines could sew on buttons for you. 😆 i have ALWAYS done them by hand, so you know I’m gonna check my machine for that option. And the buttonhole chisel 😱😳, i didn’t know such a thing existed!! I’ve always just placed 2 pins horizontally at the base of my buttonhole, and then run the seam ripper through the centre. I can see I’m gonna learn some new tips and tricks from you. 😊 Thanks ever so much for sharing, and I’m so glad you decided to post this video.

    I’m so jealous when I see someone drive the rotary blade around lengths and curves. It’s all I can do to run it along a straight edge. Really enjoyed this instruction. I bought my first linen @Joanns for a skirt, and it’s so heavy. I’ll go back to see if I can find the weight you’ve demonstrated.

    • @PatternScout
      @PatternScout  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've had lots of practice! :) I think I know the linen you are thinking of--it is quite heavy! They have several linen blends that are very nice to use. The linen I used for this dress is their "tissue linen" and it is very lightweight (it might also be a blend with viscose--I can't remember).

    How can we measure and adjust the stitch length to sew the buttons? Any tips pls

    • @PatternScout
      @PatternScout  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a little different on each machine, but there should be a dial or button on your machine to adjust the length (and width, for zigzag) of stitches. Check the owner's manual if you are having trouble finding the dials on your machine. For a button, I use a zigzag stitch set to 0 (zero) length and 4 to 5 mm width depending on the width of the holes in the button (the numbers on the adjustment dials are in mm). Hope that helps! :)

    • @PatternScout

      The seam allowance for the neckline and armhole is greater than the fold of the bias binding so I had to offset it a bit. :)

      Hmmm, I'm not sure...did you sign up at this link: patternscoutstudio.com/pages/sign-up
      After signing up, there should be a little message in green under the email form that says "Thank you for subscribing!"

    Not really a beginner friendly tutorial but fine for experienced sewists who have regular plus serger machines. Moves too fast, can't see what you are doing most the time and whatever is written in white is not up long enough to read and I got tired of stopping the video, backing it up to find split second it was there just to read it.
    Great tips for sewing the buttons and for deciding on where to add box pleats except you lost me again with the quick movements and lack of any real explanation of why you showed how to figure pleat area and size but changed it. I've not seen box pleats made before but doubt I will try.
    Why are you pulling the material behind the needle area? Doesn't that cause ripples? wouldn't a walking foot be better?
