I am so excited. I just drew out this blouse using my sloper. Please do more of this type of video showing people how to design using their personal sloper. Thank you a million times.
🤯You just blew my mind with the spicy-facing tips in this video! (1) drafting them a smidge tight on the inside and (2) sewing on the fusible, then flipping to fuse to give it that nice finished edge!!
Hi Casey, this is in my opinion the best video on drafting and making your own wrap top I've seen on TH-cam so far! Thanks so much for your videos, I'm really enjoying your channel :) I've recently bought a few of your patterns and I'm really looking forward to making the Hana Tank and Dress. Have a great day!
YOU can be very proud of yourself 😘 😋.Very nicely clear drafting and machine work. Professional all the way. I trained in fashon, you are a gem. Cécile from Paris
@@PatternScout will u be doing more videos like this one? I went thru ur playlist and because I'm 75 there's a lot of styles I love but unfortunately could not wear at my age. Lol. Again thank u for sharing ur talents with us.
I've never seen that technique before with sewing on the interfacing before ironing it on. Very interesting. I will try it on my next make. Thank you x
Having watched this video again there will also be a jacket. I have serious mobility problems with my arms, so the wide dolman sleeves are perfect, giving me width I need to get the jacket on and off. Your channel just keeps on giving. Thank you!🌷
What a great tutorial! Thank you! I love all the beautiful techniques you used to create this. I especially love the interfacing method, which I've never seen before. I'm really impressed and just subscribed ☺️
They're both so pretty! But i like the dimension of the daisy print more! Newbie here, trying to learn all the things i can from YT! You have a great channel, esp for a gal like me who knows next to nothing about sewing 😂 I am near the point of obsession!
Ok I’m totally going to try this!! I love my Romy wrap top but the drapery cut-on sleeve is a really great option for when I want to be lazy and not mess with a separate sleeve piece. Thanks for the tutorial!!
Thank you for this video ! I am a big fan of the wrap+grown on sleeve silhouette. I usually struggle with size of the overlap , I'm always concerned about gaping ! Thank you for all the sewing tips too ! The inside of your garments are so clean, I love it ! I will try to incorporate some of your techniques into my next sewing projects.
So glad you enjoyed it! I think the wrap edge can sometimes take a little trial and error, but adding a slight curve helps a lot! Thanks for watching :)
This is so cute! Several years ago I created a bodice sloper in a class which fits me really well but I have never been able to get the sleeve to fit right. I think I can make this one! So thank you! I’d love to see how you go about drafting a sleeve sloper!
Thank you for watching! I have a skillshare class on drafting a sleeve sloper here: skl.sh/38EwUyk (that link will get you a free trial so you can watch it for free) :)
What a perfect wrap top! I am definitely going to try this project! I LOVE the way you sewed the interfacing to the facing so the edge is so neatly finished! Thanks for this great video! I have several of your patterns and I’m subscribing right now!
That jacket!!!!!! 😍 It reminds me very much of traditional Japanese sewing techniques, especially with the quilted belt. Something similar would have been worn as a utilitarian everyday outfit to work in, indigo/navy color with white quilting top stitching for beauty and reinforcement (sashiko). Lately kimono style clothing and sleeves has been appreciated in fashion, but I’m even more excited by these other details!
thanks so much for watching and for the history info! This style is definitely inspired by Japanese styles (the shape is so classic and great for easy sewing while still being just a beautiful shape). I love the sashiko techniques I have seen, although I have yet to try it in a more traditional sense. :)
Wow! Sew easy! Pun intended ;) I love it. I've been keeping my eye out for this blouse pattern & have been working up the nerve to create my own slower to start drafting for myself. Perfect. 😊 Thank you!!!
wow, love the top you have on in this video, I make all my own shift and pinafore dresses as I have broken crooked back and have to custom make my clothes to accommodate my back , lucky I can sew and have done lots of my own sewing for many years, my mother taught me how to sew when I was 12 years old and I persevered reading the patterns several times till I worked them out. the reason that I make my dresses is I could never get the right colour that I liked or the right style, or the shop had sold out of my size all the time. Since I broke my back, I had to cut my dresses with sleeves into pinafore dresses because the sleeves no longer looked right, so I stick to tee shirts under the pinafore dresses, which I can get to fit my shoulders and back better, I might try your wrap top could be another option for me, and your interfacing trick is fantastic, !
Thank you for watching! My blouse is the Sofia pattern from Victory Patterns. It really is so nice to be able to custom-make our own clothes, isn't it!
Oh I really love the finished results, and the tutorial is excellent. I'm just about to tackle a modification of a wrap top, so this is useful. Thank you. PS. I don't do French seams to start with as I know I'm usually going to have to alter something somewhere so the bodice is a great place to start. Thanks for making everything so clear.

Can't say enough about the interfacing tip! I'm a little (ok, a lot) nervous about drafting my own pattern for this. I'd buy yours right away if you chose to make one.
I love the design of this wrap top! Would it be easy to add a skirt to turn this into a wrap dress? I'm a total beginner at sewing and want to make a wrap dress for a friend, and I think your videos are approachable and easy to follow. Thank you for the amazing content!
Yes I think so! Just lengthen the bodice and make sure there is enough room for the hips plus several inches of ease (per your desired fit when it is wrapped and tied). :)
I saw a video on TH-cam about under-stitching, but so few sewers do that in their projects. I am happy to see how easy you make it and how effective it is. Also, how easy you make French seams look.
Wow thank you for this amazing tutorial video and I can’t wait to see more videos.. any tips on a off the shoulder top or even the top your wearing at the end of the video.

Both of these are so beautiful! Thank you for the amazing tutorial. I'm wondering if we already have a boxy top pattern that we like, can that be used as a starting point and then just follow the instructions to draft the wrap? Clearly I'm procrastinating making a bodice sloper...
Haha I totally understand procrastinating on the bodice sloper! :D But yes! I think you could use just about any top that you like the fit of as a starting point, just something to benchmark the length and width of the bodice and sleeves. Thanks for watching, Danielle! :)
Loved it! Hope to try both of these styles; this is exactly what I was looking for. Is the collar on the second version attached in a similar way to the facing on the first version? Look forward to doing your bodice sloper course x
Thank you for watching! For the second one, the collar is just a straight strip of fabric (folded in half lengthwise) attached to the wrap edge, but it is not turned to the wrong side like a facing. It stays exposed. Hope that helps!
Oh, the other tie is also sewn on the same way, at the wrap edge. One tie goes through the little slit in the side seam when you wrap it around the waist. Hope that helps! :)
