I can’t believe there seriously is now a Venom trilogy
We live in a world where Venom has had a trilogy but not Justice League 😂
James Gunn is making a Amanda Waller project anything is possible
We got Venom trilogy before GTA6
Ant Man got a trilogy, Venom was at least a more popular character than him
🎯It’s not they just made content.
I couldn’t fathom driving five minutes to see this, much less five hours.
masochist
Yep. Every time a youtuber says they had to drive hours to see a bad movie, I feel so bad for them. Having many movie theaters near me, it's wasted on me. Tho I do sometimes go just to buy popcorn or take pics with posters.
😂😂😂 damn
i always liked the venom fx and tom's performance but they certainly aren't good movies by any stretch, I was hoping this one might put in a bit more effort than just Tom's weird performance. Too bad!
I can't believe they squeezed 3 movies out of this trash fire.
Thank you for the heads-up on the end credit scenes, this is super useful, wish more channels would do it.
Mmm strike or no strike, I don’t think it would’ve made much of a difference haha
Yeah the series wasn’t suddenly going to be good the third time out lol.
I can’t think of a better way to close out the dumpster that is the SPUMC than Kraven lighting it on fire. I hope for a glorious, stinky bonfire that I can watch from afar. This franchise deserves nothing less.
#IBlameAviArad
Damn, so this is where Otto Hightower was during season 2.
I saw the first 2 Venom movies on their opening nights. Gun to my head, I couldn’t tell you what happened in either of them. If you look up the word "forgettable," there should be a photo of Tom Hardy's Venom.
Its about time this series ends, lets move on to hopefully something better for Tom Hardy.
Lol i like how you make Hardy's dialogue feel like one of those Telltale Games of the "choices matter but not really" variety.
If you're not aware of what I mean, they're narrative stories where it SEEMS like the choices you make matter. People die. Destruction happens. All as a result, seemingly, of what you do... and then you play the game again and realize those things were going to happen anywayz and the dialogue choice be swapped out for nearly anything else.
It got to the point where you were able to recognize "this choice doesn't matter" by the quality of the writing.
All Venom 3 commentary aside, can we all just acknowledge that amazingly tailored ad read???
That ad transition... 🎉🎉🎉😅😂 beautiful!
I refuse to stay safe, Dan. I like to live dangerously.
The movie has a runtime of 1h31m, without credits.
The end credits are 15(!) minutes long. The after credits scene is only for fans who followed the MCEU. It was fun, but not worth waiting for.
Miraculously Crap Extended Universe
Would you mind spoiling me the post credits scene? I'm curious, but not enough to watch the movie itself.
1 hour 30 minutes, that ain't bad
@@reuben8648it’s “miraculous that it’s bad”? Is that what you’re saying? Must have took you all night to come up with that one…
@@PatrickBaker-z2q Its miraculous how bad it is. Not my best work but nothing to get offended over!
Sony somehow needs to be stopped from making more of these pointless villain movies.
I disagree. Unlike Madame Web and Morbius, at least Venom movies are fun to watch.
@@TabalugaDragon for how bad they are maybe. Certainly not quality movies by any stretch of the imagination.
@TabalugaDragon fun? More like painful
I don't think villain movies are pointless, it's just that the studios have no idea what story to tell or how to tell it
@@the7percentsolution not bad, average. Madame Web's bad moments were fun to watch, Venom movies are typical action flicks for a single viewing.
At least with Venom movies I can see the enthusiasm by the creators.
Hey Dan I know you probably won't see this but I love your work and observations and critique, glad to see you're doing better
I would like to continue to see Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and Venom in future Spider-man and MCU movies. This review has me at stream at home, pre-paid as part of a monthly subscription.
Naaa he's not really Eddie Brock
I will watch Tom Hardy in anything, but I have to stream this
Saw it last night and had a lot of fun with it, which is all I expected and wanted from it. Won’t say it was good, but I was enjoying myself and that’s what mattered to me.
We live in a world where Venom somehow has a trilogy yet Justice League hasn't 😂
well spotted (ditto)
Dan, I appreciate your nuanced reviews and calming voice. Hands down my favourite film critic. Cheers
Dan, you simply did not need to go that far for us 😭😭😭
Tom Hardy elevates any scene. His talent is off the charts. I've rewatched the 1st film multiple times in awe of his performance.
There might not be anything worse than traveling 10 hours round-trip to see a movie that you don’t like.
This movie was at its best when doing Saturday morning cartoon style slapstick and bad when trying to be a superhero movie.
3:20
PLEASE. Them just trying to do normal stuff is the absolute best part of the first two movies. Tom Hardy sitting in a lobster tank is in my top 10 favorite movie moments
Imagine how good this trilogy would be if the writing had the same passion as Tom Hardy's performance.
@@BatAmerica Absolutely. If only the writing and direction was as energetic as Tom Hardy is for these films. But I suppose that's what happens when his threats are basically mirrors of himself and means there isn't much variety in how they are dispatched. And yet, I know it's still gonna make a killing because all these films entirely rely on Tom Hardy's charm reeling you in for that ticket and that's all the studios need, damn if you care to watch them in home releases or not.
Thanks Dan for traveling so far to see this film and make a review. Was curious if Chiwetel Ejiofor's character in this film had any connection with Mordo. Guess not.
Thank you for saving my $12
Venom is so cringe! Hope they don’t make the symbioses part of spider man 4
Venom 10/10
Venom Let There Be Carnage 10/10
Venom The last Dance 10/10
I saw the first two Venom movies on planes. I'll wait for my next flight to watch this one.
I am curious to see how this ends but I will wait til it’s streaming…good review
Kelly Marcel following on from her terrible Fifty Shades of Grey script has made an absolute killing as Writer, Producer & now Director on this incredibly mediocre Trilogy!
I blame Avi Arad
Can you really blame her for 50 Shades of Grey?
The idea she's in the running to direct the next Bond is excruciating
I guess she's getting better
Well first Venom is pretty good although 2nd is awful
I feel like doing three of these has physically aged Tom Hardy a lot. It's as if a real life Venom sucked all the life out of him.
Nice transition and jokes with the jean ad. ;)
Finally going to see Wild Robot this weekend. Will wait for Venom 3 on streaming.
SONY doesn't read the reviews. They just cash the check on this series that somehow keeps giving them big returns on. It's one of those series like Resident Evil or Transformers. I see how much money they make, and I'm like "HOW?!"
People have low standards
Thank god this garbage franchise is done
They're going to milk it as long as it makes money
@@abhilashpanda5758 I’d be willing to bet this one isn’t going to make money. If I’m wrong, at least Tom Hardy seems to be killing it himself by saying he won’t come back. These movies are all junk they are an embarrassment to film making.
@@Moobeus then don’t watch them my guy i actually really enjoy the venom movies, but honestly just move on with your life and don’t watch them 😂
@@Awarenessss85 I’d rather have money spent on good movies
@@Moobeus then go ahead and do it 😂 like why are you telling me this?
Zero interest in ever watching this movie. Excited for the Pitch Meeting.
I even watched most of the trailers for this but when the early reviews hit I was still like: „wait, this came out???“ 😂
Hey Dan, I was looking up showtimes for Venom & noticed that there are screenings all day Thursday everywhere. It’s not the first time noticing a movie that’s advertised as opening on a Friday but in reality is opening on a Thursday and not just midnight or late night but all day in multiple auditoriums. Shouldn’t these be counted as 4 day weekends or at the very least have an asterisk next to their weekend totals?
It still feels like they tried to adapt the game Prototype into a movie, then just figured out Venom was more marketable.
8:02 - she's having the time of her life pulling on those jeans
I love how Dan's thumbnail pretty much tells me how the review is going to go
Imagine if it was a road trip movie of Eddie Brock and Dr. Connors, both rehabilitated and trying to suppress their darker halves, but then being targeted by a biker gang that they piss off that weirdly has advanced weapons
In an ideal world, the second movie should have only had Cletus Cassady (not Carnage) in a "Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lamb" role, where he helps Eddie/Venom track down and stop some (non-symbiote) threat, maybe Shriek or someone. And THEN, in a post credit scene, Cletus gets a piece of the Symbiote and shows up as Carnage in the final film, which should have been titled Maximum Carnage. That would have built up the character and anticipation and not get boring with Venom fighting symbiote after symbiote. That's just my opinion though... :)
It felt like the studio wanted to use the last of Venom to set the stage for spinoffs with the other symbiote and Knull.
Instead of using the last movie in the trilogy to tell a complete story for Eddie and Venom to wrap up their story they used the movie to try and setup their future movie universe. Bad.
I have a feeling this won't be for me. 2 hours of Tom Hardy playing with himself
I’m so excited to watch Venom 3 tomorrow in RPX! ❤❤❤❤
I'm going tomorrow see in IMAX
Thanks for the video Dan!
What’s a mid credit scene? They start showing credits the middle of the movie?
I am like 90% sure Knull is going to be a setup for Songs attempt at some Avengers Endgame movie with Tom Holland Spidey and the Venomverse
Hey Dan! Do you plan to review the show The Edge of Sleep? I loved it even with its flaws and I'd be really curious to hear your thoughts on it, starting the review now!
I was disappointed with part 2 so I wasn't planning to see this in theaters. But for some reason my wife is kinda pumped for it and I find that cute so I guess I'm seeing this after all.
Cherish her
While I'm not saying I'm certain the writers' strike was 100% unrelated, but... isn't "disjointed" part of the overall oeuvre of the Hardy Venom movies?
I haven't seen Venom 3 yet, and I wouldn't remotely be surprised if, when I watch it, I say "ooooh, that's what Dan meant"... I just find the "wait... hold on... what?!?!" of the Venom movies to be part their charm.
Looking forward to watching it!
This ^^ the hardy venom movies from the first have had this weird slightly incoherent structuring to them that is the same here. And yes it's disjointed but it's also one of the things that's interesting about the series and despite being disjointed it works somehow
I only waited a day I was just happy to see Venom and Tom Hardy, so funny and pleased not asking for much so a end to his story but there is are other venom out there.
I just got out of this movie and I came straight to dans channel. He pretty much nailed it on the head. This felt like scenes just thrown together. And I was confused what the actual plot was for a minute.
I was going to go but I haven't seen Smile 2 yet and that seems like a better use of my time. I can hold out and watch this at home.
It got the classic Dan shrug! He's fine with it folks! He's fine with it!
5/10 will watch....... at a matinee
There's been one undebatable summer hit, a few films struggling to make their money back, a bunch of low budget movies that don't matter, and a large number of complete flops. I see no reason to return to the theaters. Actually, scifi/fantasy books have become much more entertaining than movies, but Hollywood won't risk making movies based on current books. They stick with 80 year old comic books. Insanity. The newest scifi book I recall a movie was made about was a badly written mess called "Star Wars". I don't have to tell you how THAT went!
AVI ARAD has ruined so far...
* Borderlands
* Venom: Last Dance
* Daredevil (2003)
* The Punisher (2004)
* Elektra (2005)
* Fantastic Four (2005)
* X-Men: The Last Stand
* Spider-Man 3
* Bratz (2007)
* Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance
* The Amazing Spider-Man 2
* Ghost in the Shell (2017)
* Venom: Let There Be Carnage
* Uncharted (2022)
* Morbius
And now he's gonna ruin...
* Kraven the Hunter
* Legend of Zelda
* Naruto
As long as Arad lives, there's no hope
Wow. He might be even worse than Alex Kurtzman!!
I disagree - a LOT - with the majority of those films you listed as being "ruined." But even if I completely agreed with you, you HAVE to acknowledge that without Avi Arad, we wouldn't have ever seen the MCU. As a producer on things like X-Men, X2, Blade, Spider-Man, Spidey 2, all those films that everyone loves, there wouldn't have been someone at Marvel turning to Feige and saying "What do you think, think there's something we could do in-house on our own?"
In short, you can't blame him for stuff you don't like and NOT give him credit for stuff you do. He's played the same role in both sides of that equation.
#IBlameAviArad
@@Bad_Wolf_MediaThe only reason to give him credit is that he sold film rights like candy in the 90s thus forcing Marvel Studios to make films with B and C Listers, but to say he's any reason any decent superhero film exist is silly...
It's like crediting Paul W S Anderson for the recent decent videogame films 💀
But audiences did far more damage by creating the market for this juvenile crap in the first place, and now it dominates the theater.
This is flopping, which I expected!😂
Eddie and Venom go to White Castle. Make it so!
Dan I love you more than any here, youre the ONLY youtube channel I recommended, and I rarely disagree with you (I had your exact thoughts on Loki S2, if some miracle ending doesn't save this, its not worth it,), but yeah, you liking Venom, I couldnt understand. The accent he is doing is so weird (I'm from SF), tired mirror antagonist, no jokes worked for me.
I really did and why five hours
In terms of symbiote compatibility I guess Eddie Brock just has *wait for it* the perfect gene.
Sony is the reason always have been. Their only sucess has been the Spiderverse movies . Wish they would sell the rights to the MCU. Spideys rogue gallery mediocre movies with no spidey is a fail, and missed opportunity.
I’d like a venom movie where all through his lens and they make Spider-Man the villain
I've seen Venom 3 it was awesome I loved it!!!!!
I didn’t like the first movie & flat out hated the second one. This is a Stay Away for me. This weekend I plan to see Conclave. & I’m probably going to see Smile 2 for a second time
So Sony has now wasted Venom, Carnage, Morbius, Madame Web, Spider Woman, and Knull and are en-route to wasting Kraven and Rhino while trying to set ablaze a dumpster with Silk in it. 🤦🏾♂️
Just came back from seeing it, and hard agree with everything that was said here (I did not watch your review prior to seeing Venom 3).
I could summarize the movie in less than 30 seconds, half of it taken by the 2 minute infodump at the beginning.
3:40 this cracked me up 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Holy shit 5 hours I wouldn't drive that far if I got to see it 6 weeks early
Thank you, Dan. I’ll be seeing Conclave Thursday night instead of this third Venom movie.
Fun is what best describes the series and still fun curious for the 3rd. Fun review.
Sounds like The King in Black is as big of a non-entity in the movie as he is in the comics
The Venom movies are rubbish but Tom Hardy is great in them which has been pretty much the only reason I've watched them. So I will definitely see this one but probably not in the theatre.
Dan when discribing the big villian you just discribed Thanos from how many of the MCU movies
I forgot it in T Minus One Minute.....
5 hours, thanks for doing this for us, your viewers
Just saw it and i was so dissappinted, another madame web situation? Whats the point of including knull in the trailer? Cast the lizard guy and include his family just like joss whedon include a random family in justice league for the flash to save them. Bring back detective muligan and his symbiote just to do nothing and die instantly, and a singing scene then another dancing scene? Seriously?
Venom: Good Riddance
Thanks for the review and saving the money and time😅
I've noticed not alot of people are not talking about knull.
It's kinda funny to me how a Venom movie has a title, "The Last Dance" 😂
Just wanted to say...I HATED comic book Venom. It was either cartoonishly stupid or serious horror movie that got ruined because of stupid looks. But the movies were tolerable if you're drunk/distracted/with friends. So I'm definitely going to watch Venom 3 with my son, either in the theater or at home. I think its good to understand what a movie is going for, instead of complaining what it isn't.
Yes! Revive the old Hope and Crosby “Road to…” movies but with Eddie and Venom!
Venom now is a comedian symbiote. That alone already pissed me off.
After the first Venom, I was done with this franchise. Sony isn’t going to sucker me out of any more money unless it’s Spiderverse.
I've got my ticket reserved to see it in 2D after work Friday night.
Maybe this will be a TV show ala What we do in the Shadows.😊
Oh wow Dan is in overlook hotel
It's Venomorbin' time.
#IBlameAviArad
This Sony series of films is probably the worst film franchise. Even the DCEU had higher lows than this.
I'll agree the mid and after credit scenes weren't worth it.
The Screen X format I saw it in was a gimick that made the not great movie more entertaining in my opinion.
Avi Arad is the ultimate villain to the spiderman SPUM universe
SONY fumbles the ball once again. This is what happens when you overprotect your only money maker Spider-Man.
Well, it was certainly better than the Joker
There are plenty of disjointed movies not filmed in the strike: X-Men 3, No Time to Die.
