Loss is a part of life. Having a foundation (one that was undoubtedly built, at least in part, by your grandparents) makes a huge difference. I'm old enough to have said good-by many times. Two grandparents, both parents, more than 20 aunts and uncles, a brother-in-law, a step-father-in-law, a nephew, a number of friends and more. It is a part of life. I am so thankful that I never had to deal with two at once like you have. I can say time helps heal. But with the closest, no matter how much time has gone by, it can feel like yesterday if you let it. It has been nearly 40 years since my father passed, and there are still times I miss him terribly. I can also say it doesn't get easier with practice. It was as hard saying good-by to my wife's stepfather last year as it was saying good-by to my father 40 years ago. But you are on the right track. The hope that comes from faith in the resurrection of Christ means that this is not the end. My prayer is that in addition to hope, and despite how their lives ended, that you can also find JOY in knowing that they were doing something that they loved.
