You 3 are awesome! Anyone who has not built a home while taking care of animals etc does not know how tiring and stressful it can be. Especially when you haven't done it before. So so proud of you Ladies!!!!
Absolutely totally proud of y'all. You put that frame up and window in like a BOSS. It looks so so Good💜❤️ Great Job ladies I Love it‼️ Stay warm and safe🪵
That window looks awesome! I'm afraid they would find my dead body in a snow bank! My idea of "warm enough to work outside" is 72 and sunny! 😎😎😎 Keep up with the great job you. I will keep up my prayers 🙏 for you. Stay safe, stay warm ❤ Sharon in Iowa.
Hey Gang, looking great but Heather if you decide to put a flower box on that sil you'll have to cut the doors LOLOL God's Good Blessings to you and your beautiful family keep up the good work love U guys XOXOXOXO, your BIGGEST fan
Psychologically on a big job, it helps when you can periodically do tasks that "look" like you've done something other than just a lot of work, a reduced materials pile, etc... This wall end gives you that visual.
When you do things like measure and draw lines - consider labeling them with the measurement taken and ALSO with words which say what they are or are for. Its a PIA but if you are elsewise distracted (stress, weather in your case, putting out a brush fire elsewhere, attending to other obligations if a week-end warrior diy type) labeling eliminates secind guessing. It can also point out a missed consideration.
Wow have you ladies turned a corner on construction. Best install yet in my opinion. FYI I watch a TH-cam channel diyfferent Doug & Ashley during their reconstruction of their Michigan house gave the best explanation on the why's of how to keep water out when putting windows. If you have time you should check them out. Thanks bunches I really enjoy your show.
Raise the blade of the saw. Allow 1/8 inch of blade beyond the material thickness. This will drastically reduce the drag on the blade, making the cuts much smoother.
Great job on the wall and window , and you finished 👍Might want to put some construction adhesive above and on sides of wall to hold it in place, looked a little wonky when you were installing the studs 😎
Good job ladies! That should help to keep it a little more warmer and lighter in there for you. I told you all it would be quicker and safer just to slide down that hill on your bottoms. LOL You ladies be careful out there! Don't get into too much orneriness out there! X's &
Looks good Lady's. How you going to secure the window to the container frame? You could say this is Girl power right. 🤯 Thanks for sharing. We got down to -12 last night. High of 0. Back to -15 Windchill -35 for tonight and tomorrow morning here in Iowa. I was ready for spring girls 🤠
Hi Girls good job I just won't ed to let you know what I did to my house when I built it I got door's that opened out word's so it would be hard for and 1 to kick them in don't think anyone will be coming throw my hard wood doors I made my own solid wood doors and got the door frame but then any 1 can smash a window lol lol
Great work putting that window in. What a change it makes and what a view! Does this mean you could close the metal doors if bad weather happened? PS. What breed are the black and white chixs, they are beautiful. We have Comets. Great layers. Check out Cob Hill Farm, AR. What a chix flock they have. I never knew so many breeds existed. Fun learning new things.
Good morning my favorite TH-cam family!! Woo hoo you got the window in!! Looks awesome!! I have a question. How do you attached your wood framing to the shipping container? I’m very interested in building. Thanks ladies!! Have a great day!!
I'm wondering if you should have sprayed foamed the containers, to stop the sweating?? What happens if it continues to sweat behind the pink stuff than mold will grow!!
Would have loved to do spray foam but can't do to it being to cold here right now to spray. We waited to see if it would sweat on the walls before continuing with foam on wall. Will talk more in-depth on this is Saturday night Q and A video!! We will be live in the comments also!!
Great video. Back in the 1970's, while I was living with my brother, & going to Univ. of Okla. Norman, Oklahoma; I had to drive up an Icy hill. I chose to go in the ditch, which had a snow cover, instead of going up the Icy road, which I did not have any traction. This was in a 2wheel drive, automatic transmission station wagon. Heather, Have you thought of going down hill on the snow, using your snow shoes?
Just wondered if the pink board insulation your putting against the walls of the container. If you thought of instead of glueing it to the container wall cut it to fit again the container wall and why I’m asking is when the container metal expands and contracts it more than likely will pop loose from the container cause it being metal it does that when it’s hot outside and cold outside. You could start the wood wall studding building putting the pink foam insulation board behind it as you build just like your glueing only it can move behind the wall studs a little and it would not pop loose from the container wall during season changes the glue will harden it in place and after a while the expanding and contracting of the container will pop it loose. By trying this way I’m describing a way maybe kill to birds they say with one stone. The pink board is behind and in between the container wall and the wall studding. And you could return the glue and use the money from it for other materials maybe not sure.because both of those steps done then put you other insulation in it will be up against the pink insulation holding it snug to the container wall to and then you plastic over the insulation and then your finish sheeting drywall or what ever your gone to us. One other thing to if you do ever have a leak or find sweating and mold starts for some weird reason you can pull your wall panel loose and take plastic away and pull the insulation out and get to the pink wall board insulation. And pull it away easier and not busting it up in pieces from being glued and can reuse the pink board again and save time and money for a repair of any of the walls in there. I hope I’m some ideas help. Thanks for your channel it’s inspiring to people and there are not many brave woman who take on the things you do on your channel. So you are showing woman are just as skilled at anything men can do.
I am going to address this in a video all on its own. This way of doing it is very confusing to a lot of people. I am taking advice fr local builders and lots of research. But in short it isn't a big deal if it pops off this is just to hold it in place as the other parts are slowly put up. I will also be taping the seams so this is the best way. Thanks for all the encouragement you always send our way!!
Question.. will there be enough room with wall sheathing, depth of window, etc. to close those doors if it became necessary?? I am a bit of a doom and gloom guy but had to ask
That looks freaking amazing! GOOD JOB! When taping windows, you want the tape to be on the outside of the window an inch or two as well, then the window, then more tape. It works the way you did it too :)
see if the counter is only 36 inch tall that way to short . of washing dishes or what ever doing it should be teller be comfortable for you if your standing there so like about it

The battery is low and it needed a new blade.

Looks great. Makes a lot of difference. Your driveway does not look like fun.
Once it's closed in you may want to caulk the cracks in the front room/tree house before insulating, to seal it up good.
So exciting!!! Great job
I really enjoyed watching this. Bravo girls 💋
We need to do less talky talky and more worky worky videos. Hahahah
Great job on the window.
Great job!!!!!!! Excited for you.
I highly recommend securing that wall to the container before you go any further
I agree

@Kuz we Kan farms - please don't hammer the window in, use sreews for it. One wrong hit and you need new glases.

They are Wyandotte chickens . They are meat and eggs layers that do really good in this kind of weather up here and are also great momma's

Nice to see progress going on.

No I love the look of them. They can also close up.

Very nice ladies! Coming along great! When does the rope line go in on the road? :)
Lol funny
Great job on the window ladies , just wondering what your doing about cabinets, buying or building your own.
Not really sure right now. I like the idea of both... But space building issues so if I can afford it then I will buy them
Looks great Heather and for a second there I thought hey I’ll stand outside the window and ask what about we’re selling today or maybe serving lol 😂
I got an walk up window at my house when my brother and sister in-law bring me something over they will say we at your walkup window😂😂
Hahahahah
Hahahahhaah
Why don’t you paint the walls with a moisture barrier paint or sealant before adhering the insulation?
What type of counters are you doing if you’re going to do like the Laminate countertops remember their backs have a 3 to 4 inch height
Good point I had forgotten about that but I think butcher block
Better to be slightly bigger on the sizing than too small

Are you going to tape the window after you have installed it?
I guess you could not tell but I taped it before we put it in....
The chickens are "Quality Control". They have no idea how to do anything, but they will tell you how to do it! :P

No
and you forgot you have put a double topplate for the window
