I love how this direct gave us obscure JRPG _and_ obscure platformer and fans of both were like "OMG mcfunnypants is finally rereleased!!!!"

It's honestly kind of weird that the announcement just glossed over Klonoa 2 like that -- that thing hasn't been rereleased ONCE since 2001. Prices for it were getting into the like "entire monthly salary" range. This is a pretty big thing from a preservation standpoint, and for people who just want to play the dang game without forking over nearly four digits worth of money!
I know, right? It's only ever been available on PS2 until now. So psyched for it!
There’s a bigger trailer on namcos account idk why they didn’t show that, I’m really glad they realized how many people still love the series and I hope we can get more games like the Japan exclusive ones being localized or even new fresh games
I was excited about that when I heard that. I was like "so 1 is announced. Will 2 be-" and then they said it would be both 1 and 2. As someone who never played the first one and grew up with number 2, I am excited to play the first one and replay the 2nd one
Klonoa 2 as of now is going for 60 to 70 dollars disc only, 100 CIB, not terrible, klonoa 1 is the true epidemic, with a sealed mint CIB going for well over 1000

I know Klonoa 2 in PRS was not perfect. But at least it run well in RX 570 without too much setting.

30 seconds. It was only on screen for around 30 seconds, yet it managed to get one of the biggest pop-offs of the entire Direct! Crazy stuff!
The Klonoa announcement was the biggest surprise for me in this direct (yes, more surprising than Strikers and MK8 DLC). What's funny is that I was watching someone play Klonoa on Wii the day of the Direct.
Nintendo Switch is at the moment not made for kids, but for Adults to enjoy their childhood back.

Seeing how happy the Klonoa announcement made everyone makes me cry, all of these reactions encapsulate exactly how I felt seeing it!
Man, seeing Klonoa come back like this makes me so happy. I played the f*** out of the second one and to hear, in present day, that it's a rare game makes me sad. Definitely one of the hidden gems of the PS2 era. I have the entire soundtrack on my phone, so listening to those songs just gives me the itch to play that game. So happy I'm finally gonna scratch it. (might need to import the EU one if NA doesn't get a physical release)
Same. This game had a funny story behind it. My dad would beat the game and then it would disappear. Eventually it would come back and the cycle would continue. I hope my switch copy doesn't do this too

Considering the amount of hype that is going on, and the fact that this game will be available on multiple consoles, that's a very high possibility.

The sad part is when the 2008/2009 Wii remaster of the first game came out, the sales were low to the point Namco/Bandai cancelled the Wii remaster for the 2nd game and cancelling a new Klonoa 3 game. Well this is our chance. If this HD remaster sells well, we might get a 3rd game.
The minute I heard the Wind Village song, I was immediately transported back to my childhood, when I would play the first game over and over to the point I knew it inside and out. And when I heard the characters talk in Phantomile-ish, I was sold. I am totally gonna get it once it comes out.

It makes me happy to see how despite the fact that Klonoa has not been a well-known franchise (and rather undervalued), many people EXPECTED something new from this character

I cant believe how many people reacted like this. I always felt that inly me know this franchise. I love Klonoa so much played every game except ps2 cause i never had the console plus none of my friends were interested in the game to buy. From all Nintendo releases in the direct this was the best. Now we want a new f zero Nintendo

Unfortunately couldn't catch the reveal live (I was at work), but as someone who played the Wii remake of Door to Phantomile when I was a kid and loved it, and always wanted to play Lunatea's Veil, but never got the chance to do so, when I DID find out......let's just say eardrums were broken. Good on ya, Bamco, for not only bringing our Dream-Walker back, but taking such care in doing so and making it available for all platforms as well! Super excited!
When the guy at 2:10 and 5:48 says "WHAT! WHAT! WHAT!" it reminds me of my dog barking. Both the way he says it and the fact that Siri has interpreted his bark as that word in the past.

Most people in these live twitter and youtube feed are into dudebro games. A game like klonoa is consider an L for Nintendo because it shows they got nothing. Its console war BS fuel do not take them seriously.

This brings me a smile that they recognize klonoa despite been assent for almost 2 decades, i played the 2nd game on the ps2 which i own and im definitely getting this collection. He's also my most wanted character for smash since smash 4, too bad he didn't make it in ultimate because of kazuya, but i will not lose my hope to se him in the next one, if i learn something from hmk after the sora reveal is "believe, you have to believe", the same thing will go for crash, rayman and waluigi who are also characters i wanna see as well.
Definitely looks a lot better than the Wii remake in both the technical standpoint and visual standpoint. I do like the remake depiction of the klonoa model in the Wii version, but the OG models will be what people will always remember, so props for them going back to it.
Though, I think they can use clothes for Klonoa in the remake for something else. It’s an interesting design.
Speaking of which, if this game sells well, will they consider doing the movie idea again?

I didn’t realize this was a remake…
Yup! Original Klonoa 1 came out in 1997 on PS1. Then Klonoa 2 in 2001 on PS2. A remake of the first game came out in 2007 on Wii. It was the last game of the entire franchise.
Encore/Phantasy Reverie uses the same engine as the Wii remake for the first game but with more accurate coloring and a more accurate model of Klonoa himself. The second game could also be using that same engine for all we know. One thing is guaranteed: almost every original animation and sound asset seems to be used. The cutscene animations look identical by the individual frame just with better models.
I'm so happy, Klonoa is back :')

In all seriousness though... this is an AMAZING platformer that honestly has a GREAT story too. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE try out this AMAZING and UNBELIEVABLY underrated and underestimated franchise on whatever platform you choose to play it on when it comes out on it (I plan on waiting for the PS4/5 one so I can have Klonoa TROPHIES BECAUSE YES). I promise you won't regret it.

I never played these but I watched a Video of the first game and dam this looks exactly like my cup of tea.
I love cute wholesome stories and characters that have a bit of a dark edge to them.

I remember I played this game when I was very young on my Ps2 in played it so much and I really liked it yet when I started to grow up I didn’t have my ps2 people I was around never heard of this game I thought me playing this game was a fever dream honestly yet seeing the trailer on this direct make me scream so loud I couldn’t believe it and now seeing others react the same way just puts a smile on my face..I am getting this day one no questions ask
