PSA's grading can be inconsistent which is not really something you can account for. I honestly feel like at times they don't even use sub-grades to determine the overall grade (they just look at the card and pull a number out of their ***). Also worth bearing in mind they are more lenient on centering and much tougher on surface/corners, so if you aren't already doing it it might be worth weighting surface / corners in your metrics when determining the end grade.

Lol- I hear you, and cannot disagree. Our last several subs have been much more consistent: we had a few that were just way off and did not agree with our pre-grades. As you can see in the video- I was harder on my grades than they were, I had some bump up.

PSA and blind go hand in hand.

When you're grading those 2022 Optics and you're trying to judge centering, look down by the name plate and compare the left/right to edge. Your Purple Shock Aidan H. copy had, according to my measurement, 39/61 centering left-to-right. With the soft back corner, PSA was definitely going to knock you down from a 9 to an 8. They're rough on corners.
PSA cert 91455959 shows a 10 copy. It has nearly perfect 50/50 centering. Look at the name plate area.

Thanks Jim- good tip. I do try and look on ebay for similar cards in a PSA 10, to see how they look- but some cards just have too much going on. Have not heard from you in a while, hope all is well?

@@nothingbutcardboard I've just been busy with work. I haven't done any grading since my two 69 card orders in January came back. Those were really poorly timed orders. All NFL cards come back in the off season when prices plummet. That was poor planning on my part. I'm hoping to get a small order out the door by the end of the month before the special ends.

    PSA grading is too inconsistent.

$84 profit for all that time and effort aint worth it . Buy cards for a hobby not to make money imo

It’s a hobby not a job- wait for the 2nd reveal. If it felt like work, I would not be doing it.
Do you collect- if so who or what?

It's good practice and something you can make money off of as a service (which is purely profit) if you get good at pre-grading. It's also just as much of a hobby as collecting the cards itself and probably something he does for fun tbh. $84 in profit now doesn't necessarily mean $84 in profits in a few months either.

@SlickShoes thanks for the reply. Its a hobby, we need to make $ to keep it going, but in the end it is for fun.
