  • How to take your cards from a 9 to a 10 by touches up the edges. Even MacGyver would be proud of this.

    We've come a long way from taking our bundle of cards, held together with a rubber band, and trading with our buddies in the school library at lunch.

      Yes we have. That was a little before my time- but I do remember going to the mall when they had shows, and looking thru the boxes of individual cards to finish building a set of cards. 1st set I put together in a big binder was an 1985 Topps set. ( back then shows were free and just had tables thru out the middle of the mall.

    ive used the wipes you can buy to clean high end television screens and touch screens and used them to clean the surface of chrome cards with great results

    You can do whatever you want to your own cards and if PSA or any other company slabs them, then it’s no big deal. Simple as that end of discussion

      Cutting a card is wrong in our opinion, and there are some pretty fancy gadgets that can take a very small slither off a card. So if PSA measures the card and it is still “ with in “ tolerance- is it wrong? In my opinion yes, they say you cannot cut or add color to a card.

      @@nothingbutcardboardbut there are extremely small variances in cutting sizes from the factory. If you have a card with "extra meat" available that can be trimmed to exact size, then it's undetectable. What you are doing in this video is really no different than cutting. You are removing material. Ethics have never been a measurable dynamic and grading companies have no way to detect it. Grading is really a joke in the end. We are just fooling ourselves. A nice card will always be a nice card regardless of graders opinion.

      Not sure I agree- I understand what you are saying, and there are things that they say are wrong. Cutting a card is wrong, even if they cannot tell- it is still against the rules.
      There are videos of interviews with PSA and SGC, where they talk about cleaning a card- what is allowed or what they are looking for.
      To us all the things we share are “ cleaning a card”- we do not consider it altering. Some disagree with us, maybe eventually the grading companies will come out and say what we can or can’t do to a card before sending it in.

    You don't get dinged for fuzz on the corner or edges. In fact the fuzz is a sign that the card has not been trimmed or altered. If you do this method for older cards they may say it's altered because all old cards had bad fuzz on the edges. And if one happens to not have fuzz and is cleaned cut, well it may be "altered"

    • @nothingbutcardboard
      @nothingbutcardboard  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You definitely do get dinged for fuzzy edges on modern cards at a minimum. We have cracked slabs from multiple grading companies that have subgrades (BGS, HGA, and CSG) that have received an 8 or 9 on edges due to fibers running up and down the edge of the cards. In fact I have some at PSA now that I have resubmitted. I can’t speak to older cards, but I find it hard to believe a grading company can claim a card is altered if it has mostly clean edges. Tape/credit card will only remove loose fuzz, it with not completely break off all fibers like if you trimmed it.

      @@nothingbutcardboard i submitted some cards to SGC and they did have fuzz. But the corners are sharp as an arrow! The only way I saw the fuzz was from digital microscope. I will update these comments when they come in. For sure the cards at 10. Will let the "fuzz" decide lol.

      Not true at all. I've seen plenty of modern cards graded a PSA 10 with fuzzies on the edges and especially on the corners. @@nothingbutcardboard

      It’s not really a to each his own thing if psa just decertified a card because it states in their rule book, it’s not permitted then just because you sneak your crime through undetected doesn’t make it ok or legal.

    The card is my property after purchasing it. I can do with it whatever I choose. The grading companies are obligated after being paid by me, to judge the aesthetic perfection. If I wanted to sell my vehicle for more money I might repaint it, replace parts, or put on a body kit to obtain more value. Is this wrong?

    • @fastesteddiealive
      @fastesteddiealive 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes. It needs to be disclosed. Coins comics every collectible value plummets if it is cleaned or painted or parts replaced make it not original. Stop trying to justify your crimes because they go undetected. If later on the truth comes up n psa decertifies cards like what just happened to kurts cards obviously it was a crime to begin with. It’s passing the buck to the next guy when u sell it and those problems come to the light. You sir have no morals and are the type of guy who when someone says why did u lie to me.. you say cause you didn’t ask. That’s what liars do. A car can’t be sold as original paint if u painted it. It’s common sense. Guns swords anything like that the value goes down once you restore it in any way. Sorry to break it to you but psa agrees w me so your opinion is not valid. Just cause you sneak a crime under the radar doesn’t mean you won’t be held accountable once it’s discovered. Just cause u pay for a crime to be committed doesn’t make it legal
