Courses in piano technique at Improv Planet: improvplanet.thinkific.com Dr. John Mortensen explains the Left Hand Trick that makes your piano sound better.
Thank you for your videos… I watch them all, many of them I’ve watched more than twice. Would love to see a video dedicated to how one plays differently for music of different eras.
Great lesson including nocturne op. 37 no.1. One of my favorite nocturnes that grew on me over time. It's got this rather heavy, moody, super profound feel to it while all in all remaining... quite understated, and it somehow manages to make me feel like that's exactly the point. Not too many composers that can pull that off for me; and though I haven't started practising it, I feel it'll be a real challenge to do it justice like that. This lesson is definitely bound to help with some of the subtleties!
I find "stride piano" (for want of a better word) hellishly difficult. Probably the best thing to do is to partially memorize the L.H. That's the only technique that's worked for me with this kind of music.
9:19 "your sound will never be better than your imagination"
The truth hurts :(
Terrific lesson and so valuable for amateurs with less nimble fingers who still want to find more on the page.
Great stuff. This earned you a new student.
Excellent advice even for a beginner like me.
Doing this also helps to understand and learn the underlying harmony.

Thanks for the lesson. I am working on Bach's Italian Concerto, so will apply these ideas. Have a great day! 😊
What great content thank you so much. I look forward to applying this.
This was very helpful!
Thanks
What an education. Thanks.
Sounds Satie-like.
Would you play the trills in k545 in the two handed approach with like finger 2 both hands ? or would you just take it with one hand?

Would you mind making some piano tutorial lessons of using 3 hands play on romanic pop music similar to Liszt Un Sospire and/or Liebestaum no 3?
